Leiloni's POV

"How many monsters are there?"

Troy started counting pointing his fingers on every monster surrounding us. "Thirty-four," he said looking at us.

"Have you included those monsters?" Lauren said pointing to the monsters surrounding the flag pole where Aaron had climbed.

"Nope."

"Then that makes it forty-five," I said and turned my gaze to Aaron who's still holding tight on the top of the pole because when the moment he goes down, those monsters below him will surely eat him alive.

"Can we kill all of them?" Lauren asked.

"I have ten bullets left and I think you still have fifteen so we need to make sure that we'll hit them on the head," Troy said as I turned my attention to him.

Lauren took a glance at the monster below us and gripped on the pistol that she's holding. "Let's do this then."

Lauren and Troy immediately positioned on both ends of the bus; Lauren squats on the right while Troy was on the left. They wasted no time and started shooting the monsters as pulps of blood were splashing on the air. The loud gunshots resonated across the main building that made me cover my ears.

"Are there still monsters coming?" Lauren asked yelling while focusing on her target.

"No, I don't see any monsters heading this way," I said wandering my eyes around us.

Troy stopped shooting and turned his attention to Lauren. "I have only five bullets left and I only killed four monsters."

"I killed ten," Lauren stopped shooting and turned her attention to Troy, "I have five bullets left too."

"Wow, nice aim," I said looking at Lauren with amusement and she just flashed me her smug look. She really must've trained a lot at shooting. Both of them started shooting the monsters again while counting down every bullet they shoot.

"Three."

I looked at Aaron, who's still on the top of the pole, and he's slowly sliding down but he's trying his best to hold on tight.

"Two."

I gripped tightly on the crowbar that I was holding and turned my gaze to Troy.

"One."

Both of them pulled the trigger of their guns and a loud gunshot once again resonated across the main building. Troy and Lauren stood up and put their guns inside their backpacks; Lauren took a metal wrench while Troy took his baseball bat.

I looked at both of them and took a deep sigh. "Let's do this."

The three of us immediately jumped from the bus holding tightly on our weapons and landed on the ground. Monsters rushed towards us with their hands stretched trying to reach for us as my heart started to race. Before one monster could even reach me I immediately swung the crowbar that I was holding making it drop hard on the ground.

Another monster missing an arm was running towards me opening its mouth widely revealing its blood-stained teeth and a tongue that has been cut off. Before it could even reach me I immediately saw the crowbar again making it fall wildly on the ground while blood splattered all over my body.

The three of us continued hitting every monster that runs towards us right on their heads while grunting. I'm kind of getting tired and I think I have already used all of my strength. As I smashed one of the monster's heads, I accidentally lose a grip on the crowbar and it quickly dropped on the ground making a loud clanging sound.

One monster suddenly jumped on the top of me making both of us tumble on the ground. The monster's face has a lot of scratches and I can almost see its skull. I tried my best to push the monster away from me but it was too strong and have started gnashing its teeth as blood was dripping all over my face.

"Lei!" Troy shouted and I can see him ran towards us. He instantly swings the baseball bat hitting the monster on its head and it rolled wildly on the side. Troy grabbed my hand to help me stand up from the ground and gave me my crowbar.

"Thanks," I said briefly while panting.

Troy's lips formed a smile. "Always welcome."

I saw one monster running towards us so I immediately pushed Troy to the side and swung the crowbar hitting the monster on its head making it drop on the ground as its head cracked open.

"Thanks," Troy said and looked at me with amusement.

"Always welcome," I flashed him my smug look and he just chuckled.

We've finally killed all of the monsters and Aaron was still up there holding tightly on the pole.

"Aaron!" I shouted cupping my hands in front of my mouth and thank god he heard me, "you can go down now!"

"Lei!" Lauren suddenly shouted from behind me so I immediately turned around and everything moved so slow.

There was a monster rushing towards me with its mouth widely opened revealing its teeth covered in blood. It was already near me and was about to bite my face but someone suddenly shoved me to the side making me fall on the ground again.

Why is everything seems so... familiar? It feels like... deja vu.

Someone grabbed my shoulders to help me stand up, I looked at who it was and it was Troy but his attention was not at me, he's staring at something behind me with terror overtook his face. I turned around and what I saw made me froze there standing.

It was Lauren, laying on the ground screaming in pain as one monster was feeding on her flesh. Tears started to run down my cheeks so I immediately run towards her but Troy grabbed my hand stopping me. I turned my gaze at him. I blinked a tear away and removed my hands from his grip and started running towards my best friend, Lauren.

I gripped tightly on the crowbar and yelled as I got closer to them. Without hesitation, I instantly swung the crowbar hitting the monster on its head that was on the top of Lauren making it roll wildly to the side. It was about to stand up but I smashed its head with all of my strength repeatedly until its head was mashed as bits of brain, flesh, and blood were scattered on the ground.

I stopped as I heard Lauren groaned so I immediately rushed towards her. She's still laying on the ground but she was bitten on her right arm as blood started to pool all over. Her face contorted in pain and was breathing heavily.

"Troy! Help her!" I shouted while my visions were starting to get blurry as tears started to form on my eyes again.

"Lei..." Lauren gripped tightly on my hand and tried to form a smile on her face as her skin started turning pale.

I just shushed her and caressed her hair. "I-It's going to be alright, okay? Y-You're going to be fine."

My voice started to shake as tears were flowing endlessly but she just shook her head and blinked a tear.

"Troy!" I shouted again looking at Troy but he just sat beside me and caressed my back.

"I'm sorry Lei... but-"

"No! S-She's going to be fine!" I burst into tears and sobbed leaning my face on Lauren's chest, "I can't lose you!"

"Hey, listen..." Lauren groaned again so I immediately looked at her, purple veins were starting to bulge on her pale skin and her eyes were almost covered in white, "... I don't have enough time left and I can already feel it inside of me... I just want to say that you are the truest best friend I had since we were little and I'm so sorry if I can no longer stay by your side..."

"No... I can't... p-please fight it, we will still travel around the world together right?" I started sobbing again while Troy was just rubbing my back trying to comfort me.

"I can't fight it any longer Lei... it's too strong..." Lauren groaned again while her face grimaced in pain, "take care of yourself okay? And always remember that I love you."

I just shook my head and wiped the tears off my face. "We will find a cure, I promise."

I was about to touch her face but all of a sudden, she let out a loud scream as her eyes were completely covered in white and huge purple veins were starting to bulge on her skin. Her body started to shake uncontrollably that made Troy pulled me away from Lauren.

"What happened?" A voice of a man asked behind us. I looked at who it was and it was Aaron.

"You son of a bitch!" Troy unexpectedly threw a hard punch on Aaron's face making him fall on the floor with his nose started to bleed.

"Troy!" I tried to stop him but he did not even listen to me and rushed towards Aaron. Troy grabbed Aaron's shirt and started punching him on the face.

I was about to go and stop them but a low growl from behind me made me stop. I turned around and what I saw made me shiver down my spine as my heart started to race. Lauren was standing in front of me with his mouth pooling with blood. She moved her head in circular motion emitting a sound of cracking bones.

I think I've dreamt of this before...

"Lauren..." I whispered as I took a step back.

I was about to go get my crowbar but it was too late, she quickly jumped on the top of me making the both of us fall on the floor. She was gnashing her teeth as blood was dripping all over me but I tried to push her away from me grunting. I was about to kick her away but she unexpectedly poked one of her fingers on my right eye and suddenly pushed it through that made me scream on the top of my lungs in extreme pain as I felt a warm liquid flowing out of my eyes.

"Lei!" Someone shouted as I heard some footsteps rushing towards us. I heard a loud thud and the heavy pressure on the top of me was already gone and I can no longer hear any growl.

I gazed on the blue-ish skies above us but I can't see it clearly, I lost my other vision and I can still feel the stinging pain on my right eye. I was still laying on the ground and I'm feeling a little bit dizzy and my vision was getting blurry so I just stayed in that position as I felt someone lifted my head.

"No... Lei, stay with me okay? D-Don't leave me..." That voice, was that Troy? I felt something dripping on my face but I can only see a silhouette of a man. I was about to touch his face but I felt tired and exhausted.

I'll just close my eyes for a little while, just for a while.
