Last night's dinner was still on Tommy's mind. Sure it had been nice to get out of the house and have dinner with some people other than Clay, but he couldn't help but wonder why Clay didn't go with them. He claimed he had work to do, but Tommy wasn't so sure.

"Where's Tubbo, and Puffy," Tommy asked the others who were a part of the group. Tubbo would have said something, right?

"I don't know," Jack shrugged. Bolin and Opal were busy and had to leave Jack in Republic City while they went out of town, something he wasn't happy with. "Probably had better things to do."

"Don't say that," Niki said, elbowing him. "Tubbo said he'd be back soon and Puffy actually is doing something else, but she wishes she were here."

"Oh, okay," Tommy said, this sort of reassured him.

"Hey Tommy!" Wilbur called from the pavilion, "You guys mind coming over here."

"Oh gosh," Crumb muttered as they walked over to where Wilbur was standing. "He's going to prank us isn't he?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," Wilbur grinned as someone snuck up behind them.

"What are you doing in my swamp," he growled, making all of them jump and Wilbur started laughing.

"Hey Charlie!" Schlatt called as he and Tubbo walked into the pavilion. "Scaring the children again?"

"You need to stop doing that," Wilbur said, grinning as he composed himself.

"Okay, first of all," Charlie then let out a few friendly swears towards Wilbur and Schlatt. Tommy looked at Charlie in awe, learning new words he'd never heard before.

"Okay," Tubbo said, steering Tommy away from him. "Maybe we should go. Nice seeing you Charlie."

"Yeah, stop teaching the kids swears," Schlatt said, covering Tubbo's ears.

"Dad!" Tubbo complained, brushing his hands away. "Tommy, you know my dad, right?"

"Yeah, President JSchlatt," Tommy said, shaking Schlatt's hand.

"Please you're a friend of Tubbo's, it's just Schlatt," he said.

"Okay, Schlatt," Tommy said, "it's nice to meet you."

"Good to finally meet you as well, I've heard nothing but good things about you." Schlatt said, "So what brings you to Airbender Island?"

"I- um, training for the probending tournament," Tommy said, Schlatt's question reassured him that the man was unaware of Tubbo thinking he was the Avatar.

"Well you certainly choose the right place to train," Schlatt ruffled Tubbo's hair, "As much as I'd like to stay and chat with Wilbur and Charlie I have to go."

"But you said-" Tubbo protested.

"I know, but something came up," Schlatt said, he sounded apologetic as Tubbo looked down at the ground. "Hey, maybe you and your friends could come have dinner tonight at our place. Would you be able to come, Tommy?"

"I don't think I can, I already made plans with Sapnap and George," Tommy said, and he didn't think Clay would appreciate him changing plans at the last minute. "Maybe next time."

"I'll try to make plans sooner next time," Schlatt said then walked away. Seeing this Charlie ran after him to catch up.

"He was cool, and weird," Tommy said, talking about Charlie. "But mostly cool."

"That's Charlie Slimesicle for you," Wilbur laughed.

"Are you sure you can't come tonight," Tubbo asked.

"I'm sorry, I really am, but Clay's not really fond of me going to other people's houses or apartments," Tommy said, "I'm glad he let me hang out with Sapnap and George, I shouldn't take advantage of that. Yes, I knew you were going to suggest telling them and coming anyways." Tubbo stopped himself when Tommy said that, mainly because he was right.

"Okay, I respect that," Tubbo said, "And like my dad said, maybe another time."

"Yeah, totally." Tommy said, he shifted from foot to foot. "We should probably get started."

"What do you want to do?" Tubbo asked.

"I could spar with you," Crumb offered, she looked completely relaxed as if this were something she did daily.

"I don't know, can you bend," Tommy asked, he knew what Jack, Niki, and Puffy could do but he hadn't stayed around Crumb enough that he was unaware she was a non-bender.

"Nope," She said, with a grin. "But I can still beat you."

"Alright, fine," Tommy said, he was starting to get cocky and thought he could easily beat her in a match. "But don't expect me to go easy on you."

"I don't," Crumb shrugged as they stood on opposite sides of the sparring circle. They started circling each other, both waiting for the other's first move. Tommy then stopped, brought up a rock and sent it flying at Crumb. She rolled to the side and started to run at Tommy, avoiding the rocks he sent at her. He tried to jump to the side, but this allowed Crumb to sweep her leg out and knock him to the ground on his back.

Tommy groaned, how had he been beaten this easily? Crumb helped him back to his feet, only for Tommy to say: "I want a rematch."

Tubbo winced as Tommy repeatedly got beaten by Crumb, but he was able to slowly learn her fighting style. With a well placed kick he was able to knock her back a few feet with a rock, use another one right after to knock her knees out, and Crumb landed on the ground face first.

"Good job, well other than the part where you got beaten by a girl who just so happened to be a non-bender," Wilbur said, giving a chuckle as Tommy glared at him. "Oh come on I'm sure all of us have been bested by a girl."

"First time Puffy and I sparred she won," Tubbo said, trying to help Tommy feel better.

"Nope, just you two." Jack said, earning looks from Tommy and Tubbo.

"Would you like to make it your first time today," Niki said with a smirk, it was time Jack's ego was taken down a few notches. "Or are you too scared to spar with a girl?"

"Pff, no," Jack scoffed. "Alright fine, I'll easily beat you."

Tommy helped Crumb to her feet and quickly backed away as Jack and Niki started circling each other. Niki made the first move, sending a large fire punch at Jack. Immediately Jack brought up a rock wall to protect him, he then sent the wall quickly moving in the ground at Niki. She vaulted over the wall and upon landing sent an arc of fire at Jack, he narrowly avoided it and sent multiple rocks at Niki. She used another arc of fire to defend against these attacks then used a fire whip to grab Jack's legs and pull them out from under him.

"No fair," Jack complained as he fell on his back. "That's not allowed. I want a rematch."

"Oh that's perfectly allowed," Wilbur said, "You just don't want to admit she was smarter than you."

"I- no!" Jack protested, he stood up to face Wilbur. "She even burned-" He stopped short when he noticed his pants were perfectly intact, they weren't even singed.

"You were saying," Niki smirked, she seemed satisfied to get Jack off whatever pedestal he thought he was on.

"Next time," Jack grumbled, still refusing to believe that Niki had beaten him. "Beginner's luck."

"Ignore him," Tubbo said after Jack had left earshot. Niki had started to walk after him but Tubbo stopped her. "He always does that after losing. Well at least that's what Bolin has said."

"Oh would you look at that, there's Sam and Eret, I should go train," Tommy said, then running off before any of them could stop him.

"I kinda feel bad for him," Crumb said, and she then started rubbing her hands together. "I say we kidnap him."

"We can't do that, Crumb," Tubbo chuckled, this girl was crazy.

"Well I haven't heard you guys give any better ideas," Crumb said, Niki stopped the young girl before she decided to actually go through with her plan.

"Did someone say kidnapping!" Charlie suddenly popped up behind them, "Cause I'm down."

"We're not kidnapping anyone," Niki said, she turned around to face Charlie, "and where did you come from?"

"I came from the swamps below," Charlie said in a creepy voice, then made some gremlin-like noises as he shook Tubbo's shoulders. Niki just gave him a sour look. "No, really. I'm a swamp bender. I might as well be a little goopy, if you know what I mean."

"Charlie! Leave the kids alone." Wilbur came running up to them, he couldn't believe how fast he was. "Well at least if you're going to spook them don't leave me out."

"Aw, I was just having fun," Charlie smirked. "And I am now making it my mission to make that kid from earlier my friend."

"No, you're going to teach him to swear and I don't think his brother will be too happy about that," Tubbo said.

"What teen doesn't know a swear or two," Charlie said, "there's no way he's 16-17 and doesn't know how to express himself."

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I don't think you should teach Tommy to swear," Wilbur said, "I don't want him getting in trouble, or thinking he will get in trouble with Clay. He has enough that he worries about already."

"Fine," Charlie groaned. "But I still want to get to know him. Any friend of yours should be a friend of mine."
