get ready for a plot twist oof

Both Jimin and the devil froze, eyes incredibly wide, not believing what was being seen as a hand broke through the surface of the water.

It took Jimin a few moments to snap out of his state of shock before he was darting over to the edge of the river, crouching down outstretching his arm to grab at the hand grasping for land. He knew it was Jungkook, he had held his lover's hand so many times that he basically had it memorized.

He held onto the familiar hand tightly, pulling as hard as he could and not being able to help the small gasp that left his lips where Jungkook's head broke through the surface of the water.

What had she done to him now?

The dark brown strands of hair that Jimin associated with were long gone, the chestnut brown colour that Jimin remembered him having when they first met replacing them. Amongst that though, were scattered pastel pink highlights, the colour complimenting his rosy cheeks so wonderfully.

It was when he opened his eyes though, that Jimin swore he felt his heart stop.

They weren't the tempting crimson that Jimin was just starting to get used to, but they also weren't the warm chocolate brown colour that Jimin had fallen in love with in the first place.

They were a mesmerizing icy silver colour, leaving Jimin speechless and practically paralyzed as he stared into them. Jungkook also seemed to just shine. His cheeks were dusted with a golden glitter, every single thing about him being absolutely show stopping.

"J-Jungkook?" Jimin finally got out, reaching forwards with his other hand to caress the other male's cheek. Jungkook was simply floating in the river, everything below his neck being covered by the water that should have been subjecting him to immense pain right about then.

"Jimin." Jungkook grinned, watching a tear slip down his lover's face. His voice was raspy from just regaining it, but it was still downright melodic, almost even more beautiful than what Jimin remembered.

"How are you alive?" Jimin asked, running his fingers through Jungkook's wet hair. "I'm so, so happy that you are, but how? There's no way that you should have been able to survive that, despite me wishing that you would."

He watched Jungkook's newly coloured eyes flit downwards, avoiding his gaze for just a moment before he sighed.

"Help me up. I'm going to have to explain, I know I am, but I'm sure that you're going to need to see it to believe it." He spoke, voice beginning to come back to its full potential with each word he spoke. He seemed so calm and collected, something that Jimin found so strange, because he never remembered Jungkook having those traits.

Nonetheless, he used all of his might to haul Jungkook up onto the tiled floor next to the river. However, all of the air seemed to be punched out of his lungs as he looked at Jungkook's soaked form, his eyes downright refusing to believe what they were witnessing.

Jungkook's collarbones were glittering with the same golden sparkles that dusted his cheeks, his shirt seeming to have disappeared. That, however, is not was had Jimin's mouth going absolutely dry.

Right in between his shoulder blades, sprouted two snow white wings. The feathers that made them up looked incredibly soft, almost replicating the soft down that adorned baby birds. The tips of them faded into a golden ombré, and they were beautiful.

If Jungkook looked stunning before, now his beauty was absolutely mind blowing. With his legs clad in white jeans and his body adorned with golden accessories, he didn't look real.

But Jimin couldn't let the beauty before him distract him from the fact that he had no idea what the fuck was going on.

"I, am an angel." Jungkook spoke softly, smiling and nodding his head in the direction of his wings. "If you couldn't already tell."

That fact seemed obvious, considering Jungkook's drastically changed appearance, but the words still sent a shiver down Jimin's spine. His Jungkook, was now an angel? There had to be some sort of misunderstanding.

"But how?" Jimin asked, reaching forwards and taking hold of Jungkook's hand. "It has to be the holy water, right? She made you drink it, and then you were thrown in it. Maybe it had some sort of effect?"

"You can't create an angel." The devil's words had both Jimin and Jungkook's heads whipping in her direction, shocked to find what seemed to be an almost scared expression on her face. It was an emotion that looked so foreign on her face. Jimin couldn't remember a time when she was scared of anything.

"What?" Jimin asked, Jungkook's gaze dropping to the floor - as if he already knew exactly what she was talking about.

"If you aren't God, you can't create an angel." The devil elaborated. "You can't turn somebody into one either. No matter the amount of holy water that you force onto somebody, there will be absolutely no effect."

The devil scanned every single inch of Jungkook, eyes catching on the golden tips to the feathers of his wings. Her face morphed into an expression that neither of them could decipher, and she gulped before continuing to speak. "There are only two possible ways to become an angel, every thing else is useless."

"Well?" Jimin prompted. "What are the two ways?" He noticed the way that Jungkook began to squirm softly where he sat, sending him a confused glance and rubbing soothing circles against his hand in an attempt to calm him down.

"If you go to heaven after you die, and God deems you worthy enough to bear a pair of wings." She paused, wringing her hands as multitudes of buried memories from her own past were suddenly coming back to haunt her. "Or, if you were born a pure blood angel."

Jungkook sunk his teeth into his bottom lip, awaiting what Jimin was going to say next.

Jimin's mind went haywire. If those were the only two ways, that meant that Jungkook had to fit into one of the categories.

He pondered the first option, but quickly ruled it out. Jungkook hadn't died (in the conventional sense of the term), but even if he did Jimin was sure that the younger would have just landed himself a spot down in hell.

Which left the second option, but that one seemed absolutely impossible too. Jungkook had been human, then demon. But to think that his true from was an angel's? That everything else was just a disguise? He didn't want to believe it.

"Jungkook, I'm going to ask you something." Jimin began, using his fingers to tilt Jungkook's head up and make eye contact with him once more. "Whatever you answer with, I'm still going to love you regardless. Understood?"

"Understood." Jungkook nodded, Jimin's eyes briefly darting over to watch Jungkook's wings fold up.

"Who are you, really?" Jimin questioned, his bottom lip quivering although he was trying his best the keep his composure.

Jungkook sighed, bringing Jimin's hand up to his mouth and pressing a soft kiss against his knuckles.

"Where do you want me to start?"
