I didn't know how I was supposed to tell my parents I was bionic. Do I even tell them? I mean, they've been gone for so long. I thought they'd be back by now. But I guess it gives me time to practice in the mirror.

I got a call from Mr. Davenport that morning to come by before school so we could talk about my bionics. I didn't have a capsule, so they haven't been activated yet. But once he made one and I stepped inside for the first time, I'd be a true bionic human.

It was scary. The fact that I had these abilities but they haven't been activated. Why did I have the fear my head would pop off my shoulders? I'm being too paranoid about this.

I walked into Mr. Davenport's, Leo turning in his chair to face me. And he did not look happy.

"So you get bionics for being out in a life-or-death situation, but I stub my toe and it can't get invincibility?" Leo complained as I chuckled, walking over and slapping his shoulder.

"I may not have my bionics activated, but when they are..." I said, leaning to Leo's ear. "Sleep with one eye open." I whispered as he shot you and ran off.

Mr. Davenport walked in from the lab elevator, waving to me as he grabbed a tin of cereal with the Davenport logo on it.

"Did you really make your own cereal brand?" I asked with a chuckle as Mr. Davenport gave me an annoyed grin.

"No I didn't make my own cereal. These are power pellets. They are packed with nothing but pure adrenaline that helped to activate Adam, Bree and Chase's bionics when they were still learning to control them. Now that they've learned to activate them on their own I had no use for these, until you came along." He mused as I shrugged.

"Well alright Mr. Davenport! Slap me down a bowl and get me the milk mama is ready for her bionics!" I cheered and sat down as Mr. Davenport chuckled in amusement.

"That's cute but no. You see, Ness, these pellets are packed with so much adrenaline that if you have too much you will too energetic and won't be able to shut your bionics off. And with your bionics being the most dangerous out of the four I can't risk you having too much. Besides, you're bionics aren't even activated." He explained as I sighed, standing up.

"Alright then, take me to the lab and activate these bionics! I want to try out my super intelligence. Then i can finally kick Kelly Hartland's butt in chemistry!" I grinned with an evil look in my eye as Mr. Davenport simply smiled.

"Yeah... okay let's go do that."

"So how does this work? Do I stand in one of their capsules and you press a few buttons? Do you have to take out my chip to activate it?" I asked as Mr. Davenport stared ahead for a moment.

"Uh you just stand in Chase's capsule and they'll activate automatically. But this means that until I am finished building your capsule, you will have to share one with Chase." Mr. Davenport said as I frowned.

"Why not Bree?" I questioned as he snickered.

"Have you seen Chase? He's like the size of a pug. And well... Bree kicks in her sleep." Davenport answered as I sighed.

"Why do I have to share a capsule Anyways? I feel like that's an invasion of personal space, and what's the point of them anyway? Plus, I won't fall asleep standing up." I commented as Mr. Davenport walked over to the capsules.

"You don't get it yet, Ness. These capsules were designed to keep their bionics at bay. Without them, Adam, Bree and Chase will glitch all the time and expose their bionics to the world. They put whoever is inside to sleep in a matter of minutes, so you won't have to worry about struggling to sleep. You're capsule should be finished by Friday but until then you and Chase will need to share one." He explained once again as I nodded.

"Okay. I think I got this... totally. Also uh Mr. Davenport?" He turned his head to me, lips pursed as he listened. "There may be a chance I also.. have the commando app." I said whilst picking at my nails.

"You WHAT?"

"It's fine! I can keep my emotions under control! I've always been really good at that!" I reassured as he shook his head.

"No it's not just your emotions that will trigger your commando app, Vanessa. The Commando App can be triggered by any high intensity feeling or emotion. Say if you were to see a child or person being attacked, that could trigger your Commando App. Or if you feel very embarrassed, scared, anything. You have to promise me that you will stay calm or I will have to get your parents to take you out of Mission Creek High." Mr. Davenport clarified as I nodded.

"I promise. I won't let Spikette out of... wherever she is." I swore as Mr. Davenport smiled and nodded, patting my back.

"Alright then. Well... let's get you activated." He said as I smiled, walking up to Chase's capsule and staring at it for a moment. I took in a deep breath, opening the capsule as sterling inside.

There was a quick flash of light and a tickle in my neck as I felt my body surge with electricity. I laughed at the feeling, stepping out as Mr. Davenport walked over.

"How are you feeling?" He asked as my brain tingled with new information.

"I... I feel amazing. Wait! I want to try something out!" I said as he took a step back. I got in the position Chase would get in for his force field, a purple ball forming around my body. I grinned with excitement as I made the ball smaller, throwing it to an empty cup and watching it fly across the rooms

"THIS IS THE COOLEST THING EVER." I cheered as Mr. Davenport joined in.

"Okay now I know this may seem exciting but you have to remember. Keep. Your. Bionics. A secret. No one from the outside world can ever know about them." Mr. Davenport ordered as I nodded, giving him a hug.

"Thank you for saving me." I whispered as he hugged me back.

"You're welcome. Now, get to school before it's you're late." He said as I nodded, running off back upstairs.

"Guys! Guys! I have to show you something!" I panted, running up to Adam, Bree, Chase and Leo who stood in an empty hallway.

"Where have you been? You're an hour late!" Leo said as I grinned from ear to ear.

"Oh no where. Just getting my bionics activated." I whispered the last part, opening my palm to show everyone the electricity dancing between my fingers. They all gazed in awe, grins on their faces.

"That's so awesome! Man, now I wish I had gone with you to that warehouse." Leo complained as I giggled with excitement. I felt Chase's lingering eyes, then a tug as he dragged me towards the stairs.

"Hey can we talk about last night? I just... I want to know where we are standing." Chase whispered as I looked around.

"We are standing in the middle of school." I joked as he rolled his eyes.

"You know that's not what I meant." He said as I sighed, shrugging.

"I don't know, Chase. I mean, I'd have to think about it. Maybe I'll have an answer by tonight." I said as he sighed and nodded, a sad look in his eyes as we walked back.

"Okay so I need to go. There's this big test in Home Ec I didn't study for and I really can't miss out on study hall or I'll be forced to do summer school." Leo said as I nodded and waved goodbye.

"And I have to go find random strands of hair for my Leaning Tower of Hairsa." Adam grinned and skipped away.

"And I... have no where to be so I'm just gonna go to the library." Bree said, walking away and leaving me and Chase alone in the hallway.

The two of us shared a look as I whistled awkwardly. "Is now a good time to tell you that Mr. Davenport doesn't have my capsule ready so I'll be sharing a capsule with you until Friday?" I smiled as Chase's eyes widened.

"Why can't you just share one with B- actually never mind. She kicks in her sleep." He said as I nodded and sighed.

"Look, if I'm being honest it sounds like I would be invading your personal space if I were share the capsule with you, so I think that if I just don't use my bionics until Friday-"

"No it's fine, Dottie, really. If we sleep back to back then I'm sure there will be plenty of room for the two of us." Chase reassured as I tilted my head.

"Are you sure? I don't-"

"I'm sure. Besides, we are... both small enough that we wouldn't even touch one another if we slept on the walls of the capsule." He continued as I sighed, nodding.

"Alrighty then. I guess I'll see you at lunch."

"So... what do you guys think?" I said while turning the corner into the main lab, spinning in place as I wore my new mission suit. I wasn't going to lie.. I looked hot.

Chase apparently noticed I did too, as he was at a loss for words.

"You look amazing, Ness!" Bree complimented as I smiled.

"Yeah Nessie! You totally rock that mission diving suit!" Leo joked as I rolled my eyes playfully.

"Now just remember, Vanessa. You haven't even begun training to go on missions so you will inevitably be backup until you have learned enough to go on a real mission with the team." Mr. Davenport said as I nodded in understanding.

"This is going to be awesome having a bionic best friend that's basically my sister." Bree mused as I laughed, feeling my phone buzz.

"Oh, give me a second guys." I said with a smile, walking out and rounding the corner to answer the phone.

"Hello? Uh yeah this is Vanessa Valin..." I answered with a nervous chuckle. The smile on my face slowly disappeared as the man on the phone continued to talk.

"What.. what? I don't-I don't think I understand what you're saying... could you please repeat that?" I asked as he said those words over again.

I felt my heart shattering into a million pieces as the phone slipped out of my hand. My eyes were glued to the wall ahead of me and I hadn't even heard my phone crash and shatter , let alone the footsteps of Leo.

"Nessie! Adam just threw Chase- Vanessa?" Leo said as his smile also was wiped clean off his face. I could feel the tears forming in my eyes, but I forced them back, only allowing my cracking voice tell Leo I wasn't okay.

"My... I don't... This can't be happening." I whispered quietly as Leo's eyes widened in remorse. He gave me a tight hug as I stopped myself from breaking into an ugly cry.

He brought me back to the lab, everyone quickly noticing something wasn't okay when they noticed my puffy eyes but matte face that hadn't shed a tear.

"Vanessa? What's wrong?" Mr. Davenport asked as I slowly looked up at them.

"My parents." I started as they all realized too fast what was coming.

"They're dead."
