Chapter 9

Bio terrorist

Bio terrorist

Bio terrorist

A barrel of a gun was the only thing Riley felt as she was pushed towards the yellow cage towards the side. The gun disappeared and a rough hand pushed her inside. Her knees hit the ground and she fell to her side, a loud ringing in her ears.

The other people inside the cage stared at her for a moment, but they turned away, finding their own problems more important than the trembling teen on the ground.

I am a bio terrorist?

No! You are a conduit!

Very slowly Riley opened her eyes, the ringing coming to a stop. She let out a grunt, pushing herself to stand. The panic inside her rose again as she looked around her. These people should not be locked away, bio terrorist or not.

Conduit

Riley shook her head, trying to shake Delsin's voice out of her head.

Yes, conduit

Her eyes darted back and forth across the walls of the cage. If she was indeed a conduit. She would be able to get out of there, right?

Deep breaths

She took a step back, than another. Her eyes focused on the wall in front of her.

How did Delsin do this again?

He just... dashed

So that is what she did. Riley closed her eyes tightly and took off.

The wall, as she had expected to hit her in the face, did not appear. Instead she felt a surge shoot through her. Like electricity.

With a sharp intake, she opened her eyes.

"Stop!"

Riley turned around and fell shock fill her as she noticed the cage in front of her, the people inside staring at her in shock. A DUP agent was advancing towards her, his gun drawn and pointed straight at her.

With a quick step Riley took off again, as she had done way to many times that day. This time though, she kept her eyes open. The world around her faded away in a blue hue, energy spiraling around her. Not like the smoke she had seen Delsin use, or the neon she had seen Fetch use. No, this was different, like electricity. As Riley finally came to a stop, letting the energy go, she noticed she was on the other side of the city. Near Olaf's to be precise.

After giving herself a metaphorical kick on her ass, Riley stepped towards the tall building. That had to be one of the perks of being an ex employee, knowing every single way to sneak in and out of the building. In no time, Riley found herself on the roof, the oversized neon build-board hanging above her head. She had to collect her bearings, and the best way to do that was by climbing the tallest building, and staring off into the lid up city below.

So there she sat, her feet dangling off the edge, her eyes misty with unknown tears. She was silent, her mind so loud it felt quiet.

She was a bio terrorist, a freaking conduit! Part of her would want to jump of a cliff, wanting to end her fear. Another part wanted to jump in joy. She could make a difference now.

Her life would change drastically, no matter what she did.

Paige would want to lock her up, there was no doubt about that. For the safety of the people, she could nearly hear her speech as she cuffed her used-to-be-best-friend.

Her mom and dad would disown her. Two high government agents with a conduit as daughter? They would erase her from their family tree.

Delsin... he would be the only person she could think of, who would not want to harm, lock up or abandon. He might even be the only person to still want to be around her.

She had to call him. With a sweaty hand, Riley reached down into her pocket and pulled out her phone. It's cracked screen lid up, showing a happy picture of her and Paige. How cracked that image was.

Just as she was about to press Delsin's contact, footsteps appeared behind her. In shock she dropped her phone and watched as it clattered onto the hard stone roof, a crack or two added to her collection. In a swift movement Riley turned around, her eyes wide. She had expected an DUP or even an police officer, as they had not let her alone this day. Instead she found a face, she had not expected to see.

"Abigail?"
