PROLOGUE

"I AM INEVITABLE."

Within the stone cold walls of the Sanctuary II, there was a fleeting moment of peace which many relished in. It was almost as if a blanket of security had been placed over the large man within the Throne Room, who gently rocked a babe back and forth. He had finally accomplished the one thing that would cement his philosophy across the stars. He was to begin his journey of fulfilling his destiny by rectifying the balance.

"Is that her?" A young girl's soft voice echoed. The Titan pulled his gaze away from the babe in his arms, only for a moment, to spare a glance to his favourite daughter, Gamora. Her once golden armour was dripping with icy blue blood from their recent rescue mission on Atlantis to save the babe.

Thanos nodded his head sharply before returning his gaze towards his equal. Gamora quietly crept towards her father, and the babe, with slight apprehension, as she tilted her head in deep thought. Gamora was only a decade older than her, and wondered if Thanos would push her aside.

A whispered lullaby of the prophecy echoed around the Throne Room while the large, purple Titan, with blood dripping down his armour and staining the stone beneath him, gently rocked the small bundle in his large arms. The once white soft blanket, wrapped around the babe, had streaks of blue blood sticking to the cotton but it was of no threat to the small babe in his arms, for she was staring up in a curious wonder at the Titan. Her light brown eyes shone with golden hues under the faint light around the room. There was a small breeze which tickled her flushed, round cheeks, and made her scrunch up her tiny nose.

"Report." Thanos commanded sternly as he gently rocked her, her eyelids were fluttering shut. It would have been a terrifyingly exhausting day for her after being sacrificed to a collapsing star.

Gamora bowed in respect, stopping just before the stairs as she repeated the mission report of her very first battle. It had only been a few years since Thanos had saved her, and since then, she had been trained by the Titan and his eldest children in preparation for her first battle. One which she prided herself on for her many kills.

"The population of Atlantis has been halved, just as you commanded, father. Ebony Maw killed the Imperator Kummu for his attempt of turning the Saviour into a weapon against you. He paid the price for treason with his life."

Atlantis had been merely one realm, in the vast expanse of the universe, that sought to destroy everything they had with their selfish endeavours. For they were all blind to the path they had sent themselves hurtling towards, with their only end being a cruel, painstakingly slow, death.

It was an end that the Mad Titan, with a hopeful determination to save them, sought to prevent. His heart was clenched with the anger he held towards his own people for not realising that his philosophy would have saved them.

If only they had the vision to see, just as he did.

His vision would be executed as he had finally found the Saviour.

He had saved her.

"Very well," Thanos stated with a nod. He glanced down the stairs towards his daughter, "you may stand. Come see her, little one."

Gamora slowly stood up straight, her curious eyes wandered to the small bundle as she walked up the stone stairs towards her father. There was an uneasiness within her as she neared the babe, and her eyes widened infinitesimally when Thanos held her towards Gamora. "Hold her, she is your sister now."

Without questioning her father, she carefully carried her in her small arms. More icy blue blood clung to the cotton blanket, Gamora attempted to hold her a few centimetres away to refrain from staining the blanket any further but when the babe stirred, and whined, she pulled her closer which eased her instantly. She remembered her mother doing the same for children she had helped back on her planet. Gamora quickly shook away the thought, they were selfish beings.

Small, golden brown eyes peeked through her wet lashes up to the green faced assassin. Her new sister. They were bonded through Thanos. The babe reached up and grabbed a chunk of Gamora's wet brown and red hair, and tugged. It didn't hurt the young girl but rather it made her smile softly which quenched her stinging irritation. She was an innocent, like Gamora was years ago.

"She's taken to you," Thanos said with a sense of contentment over his words. "Good. You will help train her in fighting, I want her to be prepared for any situation that may limit her magical capabilities."

Gamora looked up towards her father and nodded, but she couldn't shake the slight pique of irritation towards the bundle in her arms for there was a worry that Gamora would be cast out in favour of the Saviour. "I will train her well, father. I promise you."

Thanos's face softened, "I know you will. You have never let me down, daughter."

Gamora's heart swelled with the praise.

"You did well today," Thanos continued as he stroked Gamora's dark hair. "You have helped the universe, little one. We are setting right the balance."

"Yes, father."

"Do you remember the prophecy, my daughter?" Thanos queried.

Gamora pursed her lips in thought while the babe tugged on her long hair once again. "The one who seeks balance shall meet their equal —"

"— A babe birthed in the darkest star, shall follow the destined path."

In unison, they finished the prophecy while the babe fluttered her eyes again:

"The destined path leads to the Saviour, who will rectify the balance of the stars."

"And she is our Saviour," Thanos murmured as he gently took her from Gamora.

"What's her name?" Gamora questioned.

"They had birthed her Leena," Thanos recalled wistfully.

The breeze had picked up. It whipped at Gamora's bloodied hair, causing her to look around in confusion while Thanos felt a small smile tug at his lips in a mix of admiration and taunting revelation. Leena's powers, being only a couple hours old, had begun to shadow over them. A cloud of black smoke creeped around Thanos and Gamora, with Thanos's words escaping through with a cold layer of determination:

"We are inevitable."

this will be a post infinity war au i guess, so endgame never happened in the way we saw it on the big screen! i will also involve characters that are loosely based from the comics because of such an alternate ending i have in mind so i'm pretty excited about it!
