"MOVE IT MOTHERFUC-"
"Oi! Watch it mouth-breather!"
"EGGS! GET YOUR DRAGON EGGS! GRAB 'EM BEFORE YOUR ENEMY DOES!"
"Roll up, roll up, get your tongues! Eyes! And balls! Perfect for brewing your poison to kill even the deadliest of monsters!"
In the midst of the hustle and bustle of Planet Droag, home to one of the many black markets across the Universe that were revelling in Thanos' destruction, a young woman quietly stalked her way through the crowds, ducking out the way of any random dragon eggs thrown over her head as she made her way to the rowdy tavern at the end of the market. Her eyes shifted around her as she stepped over the threshold, the shouting of the marketers faded into the buzz of drunken slurs, the powered stench of absinthe replaced the decaying animal bodies left behind her.
After quickly scanning the tavern, she located an empty stall at the back of the bar. Moving her way past the faltering bodies of drunken limbs, she sat down at the stall next to a hooded body, and offered the bartender, with the snake-slitted eyes, credits for a drink. She downed the absinthe shot in seconds and ordered another.
Her eyes drifted to the wet blood staining her knuckles. She clenched and unclenched her fists before pouring the shot over the wounds, her teeth gritted as she hissed in a breath at the sudden burn. Another two shots were ordered. She downed them both and continued to clench and unclench her bloodied fists.
"Looks painful," came from the hooded body, his voice was almost heavenly, God-like perhaps, Leena couldn't help but notice.
His heavenly voice, however, only tightened her shoulders as her next round of shots appeared in front of her. She grasped the glass in her hand, clenching it, before shooting it down her throat, deciding against responding to the stranger.
"I've got a couple myself," the curious stranger continued on, as if Leena had encouraged the one-sided conversation to continue. He placed his hand out on the bar and Leena skimmed her eyes over the scabbed knuckles, veins travelled along his hand and under his hooded arm. "Battle memories, my father called them, without them, how would we remember what we were fighting for? No one comes away unscathed from a battle."
Leena felt a inkling of familiarity from the man but couldn't exactly pinpoint where or when she had met him. Her back straightened and her leg dropped from the stool, she should leave, but something about his voice made her answer him.
"Sounds like a wise man," she said softly as she finished her last shot, the burn in her throat was now a familiar friend to her. She dropped from the stool, her boots thumping against the stained floor.
"He was, a very wise man indeed." The man continued, "he also taught me that even when it feels like all hope is lost, if there is still a fight within you, then the fight must go on. Whatever it takes."
Leena furrowed her brows slightly only for her eyes to widen and in a second she had pulled her sword from her belt, which extended on instinct, and pointed it towards the angered God that stood before her in all his heavenly glory.
Thor, son-of-Odin, had discarded his hooded jacket for his shining armour and royal red cape that draped behind. There was a slight twinkle in his eyes as he stared down at Leena's sword that was pointed towards his throat. The rowdy tavern barely paid any attention to the heated moment in the corner, they had yet to recognise that the daughter of Thanos, the woman who had been blacklisted across the Universe, was standing merely a few feet from them.
"Cute." Thor nodded his head before pushing the tip of the sword away from his throat.
Leena narrowed her eyes and pushed it back against him. Thor lifted his lips in a humourless smile.
"I'm not here to kill you," he said quietly, his stormy blue eyes locked on her smaller frame which had frozen. She was out of her depth. For the first time in her life, she was alone. She couldn't nib away the worry.
But Leena didn't move the sword. Her heart was beating slightly faster than usual as she swiftly glanced around the tavern once again, an odd look here and there had been spared her way. She noticed in the corner of her eye the familiar warning poster, it was splattered in blood, but her face still stood out beneath the stains.
Thor followed her gaze and breathed a sigh. "Come, let's go somewhere else. Maybe get rid of the sword if you do not wish to draw attention." He stepped back and Leena faltered with her sword. She glanced at the poster once more before swallowing her doubts, and locked the sword back in its place on her hip.
"Come where?" She asked quietly, her voice cold as ice. She was kicking herself for letting herself be found.
It had been two months since Thanos wreaked his destruction across the Cosmos and Leena had found herself running across the galaxies in hopes of escaping her fathers army and the many people he had managed to sway into thinking she was the reason that they had lost their loved ones. Two months of killing people before they killed her. Blood was dripping from her cold, shaking hands. More blood than usual.
Thor inclined his head towards the door, and started towards it, pausing to see if Leena was following. Leena clenched her bruised fists before taking a step towards him. Thor continued on his way out with Leena following behind, her eyes warily scanning her surroundings.
The God of Thunder continued to stride through the markets with Leena only a few steps behind him, she was counting each step she took and freezing the path into her memory in case she had to make a sudden exit.
They soon arrived at Thor's destination, it was a few alleys away from the markets and where the once lively and colourful fields of Droag had decayed into death and despair. The decaying field smelled of rotting animal carcasses and the ground beneath them crunched under their weight.
She stopped in her tracks once she recognised the shimmer in the distance. It was a hidden aircraft, barely detectable underneath the invisibility panels, but Leena was able to distinctly make out the shape of it by the way the red sunlight bounced off the shimmer and fragmented into the decaying field. Her fingers grazed the handles on her belt before pulling one into her hand and watching her sword extend.
Thor turned on his feet and shifted his gaze from her pale face to the sword where the red burning sunlight bounced off. He raised an eyebrow. "I thought we were over the swords? If I wanted you dead, you would be dead by now."
Leena raised a brow in mocking, "you've tried before and you failed. I'm not going any further until your band of merry men reveal their aircraft." She pointed her sword towards the distance where the aircraft lay hidden.
Thor looked slightly surprised before he hid it with a roll of his eyes in annoyance, he mumbled something under his breath, of which Leena could only presume was to a communicator, as a few seconds later there was a slight rumble beneath her feet as the aircraft revealed itself to her. She glanced back at Thor, satisfied, that she could now see the aircraft but still refused to lower her sword.
"What do you want, Thor?"
"You."
"Get in line, apparently I'm sought after by most of the galaxy." Leena retorted with a short smile, although there was nothing funny about her situation.
"Replace galaxy with Universe," Thor countered sternly, Leena's shoulders tensed once again. "Your father has made quite a name for you."
"He's not my father," Leena cut in.
"Saviour, was that the name that you liked to be called?" Thor continued, ignoring her, "Saviour. It has a lovely ring to it, even I have to admit."
"Get on with it. What do you want?" Leena gritted out while her eyes darkened in annoyance. Thor narrowed his eyes and stared intently at her face. "Are you going to try and capture me to send me back to Thanos? I'm afraid that won't end well for you."
Thor said nothing. He continued to stare at her face, almost as if he was trying to figure something out. Leena was not a fan of how intently he was looking at her.
"Maybe take a picture, it'll last longer." She snapped in irritation.
"We're not here to turn you in to Thanos. Or kill you." Thor's eyes darkened slightly. "It would be best if you cooperated, but if not, we have other ways to make you more than willing."
Leena thought she heard a whispered shout, perhaps it came from Thor's communicator, but she didn't dare query the sound but instead smirked at him. "Cooperate? With you and your merry men? I don't think so —"
Suddenly thunder boomed above them and lightning cracked mere metres from where Leena stood as the bright white lights sparked across Thor's armour and his eyes darkened into the stormy night. Her eyes widened momentarily as she jumped in slight shock.
"— I'm not asking!" Thor's thunderous voice boomed at her.
She clenched her fist around her sword and stepped towards Thor as the thunder roared above them with greying clouds releasing their streams of water onto them. Soaking them head to toe in water, Leena shook her head in defiance, her short wet curls spraying around her while the black make-up streamed down her cheeks.
"And I'm not complying!" Leena shouted back while thunderous roars echoed above them.
Thor glowered at her as a lightning strike nearly sparked her as it sizzled into the decaying ground, setting it alight. Small bursts of fires erupted around them.
"You have no choice."
"Well then, say hello to your brother for me when I kill you."
Leena charged forwards and smacked her sword down hard against Thor who grunted as the sword cut through his arm that was not covered in armour. Leena swung her sword once again but was suddenly blinded by a bright bulb of lightning appearing in front of her, followed by a clap of thunder right beside her eardrums.
She dropped her sword as she lifted her hands up to cover her ears that started to bleed from the loud roar of thunder. The ringing in her ears sent a wave of nausea over her. Leena's eyes blinked furiously to remove the white flash, a blurry figure stood before her in the torrential rain before it slowly revealed Thor standing in his thunderous glory.
Leena knew it was a risk, given what had happened, but she couldn't die here, not here, and certainly not by the hands of Thor. She had to give it a shot. She had to give it her all.
She pulled her bloodied hands away from her thumping ears and steadily held them out before her, her body tensed before her eyes darkened and the familiar black veins appeared around them and along her hands and arms, and up her neck. Her body suddenly felt itchy as the black veins travelled towards Thor whose own fists clenched in anger.
Leena ignored the itch that started in her hands, then her arms, then her neck and face before travelling down her body towards her feet. Soon enough Thor was entangled in the black coils and was suddenly thrown towards the ground with a grunt leaving his lips as Leena began draining his energy. The itch soon turned into a slight burning sensation, it started off slowly, until it spread over her body which was soon beginning to feel like it was about to be ravaged by fire when her body suddenly turned ice cold.
Leena's face smacked the ground, her eyes rolling into the back of her head and she lost consciousness in a matter of moments while faint voices blurred into the darkness of her subconsciousness.
