1.0 | LIFE OR DEATH
THE SNAP RICOCHETED ITS DESTRUCTION ACROSS THE COSMOS...
___
Far away on TITAN, moments after the metal snap of death by the Mad Titan, a young boy shuddered a shaky breath as his brown eyes widened in horror. The hair on his arms stood on end as he whipped his gaze around, staring at his mentor whose own face had paled.
"Mr. Stark?" Peter called out, moving beside his mentor to help him stand up. He cast his eyes around the orange planet once again, a chill nipping at his bruised skin. Something was wrong. "Can you feel that?"
"Strange? What's happening?" Tony called out, his face dropping after noticing the cast down look painted on the Sorcerer. "Strange?" He repeated with a bated breath.
An icy breeze whipped over the Protectors of the Galaxy and Earth, each of them shivering as the touch of destiny kissed their skin.
"No, no." Tony whispered. His heart shattering when he realised what had happened.
Thanos had snapped his fingers.
The Mad Titan had won.
The Avengers had lost.
Tony clenched his hand around Peter's metal shoulder, locking eyes with the young boy whose own were filled with worry. He could barely force out the words he wanted to say. I'm sorry. I'm sorry I failed.
"Quill?"
Tony and Peter turned their heads towards the panicked voice of Mantis. Her hands were shaking. Quill walked towards her, his hand outstretched, but by the time he reached her, she had fallen through his fingers like sand. Quill choked out a disgruntled sound.
"Mantis?" Drax breathed out, his eyes watching the dust fly around them.
"What's happening? Where did she go?" Peter rushed out, his young heart beating loudly.
Tony closed his eyes for a moment. A shooting pain went through his chest. His left arm was aching.
"Drax?" Quill whispered with bated breath. His eyes shimmering with unshed tears as he watched another one of his family members fall through his fingers. "God, no. No!"
Nebula dropped her gaze to the floor. "What have you done Leena?" Her voice was layered with pain.
Peter was shaking. He could barely hold himself up as his throat tightened with fear. He glanced at Tony. "Mr. Stark?"
Tony lifted his tired eyes open, glancing at Peter with a weary face. What could he say?
"Oh shit," Peter breathed out, his voice shaking. "We — we can do something! Right? We have to do s—something?"
"Tony," Doctor Strange called out. Tony glanced over his shoulder at the weary-faced Sorcerer. "Find her."
Tony's brows furrowed. "Find who?" He called out, his words catching Nebula and Quill's attention. The latter clenched his fists.
"Leena?" Nebula interrupted only to shudder a breath when she noticed Tony stumble.
Peter choked out a sob when he saw the dust fly around him, he lifted his shaky hands up, flipping them over to see if it was him. Only to pause. His mouth parted in horror. He turned to look at Tony and released another choked sob.
"No, no, no!" His child-like voice shook with fear. His hands reached out to grab Tony's shoulders as he slumped to the ground. "No, not you as well! Not you!"
"Pete," Tony whispered softly, his mahogany brown eyes swimming with tears. A single tear trailed down his blood streaked cheek as he leaned against Peter. "Kid, it's okay."
Peter shook his head, his cheeks flushing. "Please, please Mr. Stark!" Peter shot his head towards Doctor Strange who watched on with a resigned look on his face, "help him! Please!"
Doctor Strange cast his eyes down. Nebula and Quill glanced at one another with equally pained expressions.
"Kid —" Tony stopped, his eyes fluttering shut as his body completely disintegrated to dust between Peter's shaking fingers.
Peter's hands shook violently as he reached down and grasped a handful of dust, his tears dropping thickly into his palms. "Tony? Tony? No, no. Don't leave me." His voice broke just as his heart was breaking. He couldn't lose Tony. He couldn't. "P—please."
Peter's watery eyes watched as the last fragments of his father-figure floated through the air. His throat tightened while his heart felt heavy with guilt and sadness.
"He did it," Nebula said quietly. She crouched down to the floor, her shoulders slumping in defeat.
Quill dropped to his knees, his hand clenched around his gun as his eyes stung with unshed tears for his fallen family. For his fallen love. "No. They did it." His brows furrowed in heated rage, "she helped him."
Peter dropped his head in resignation, his shoulders shaking. "Why her?" He asked quietly, his voice thick with emotion. "Why Leena?" He cast a look towards Doctor Strange.
The weary-faced Sorcerer lifted his head. His piercing green eyes burned through Peter, a shadow of uncertainty with a mixture of hope shaded his face. "We need her. They need her."
Peter dropped his gaze to his hands while his thoughts burned with the image of the Saviour.
Find her.

Far away on EARTH, mere moments after Thanos had opened a shimmering blue portal and vanished, screams started to echo across the battlefield of Wakanda's open field.
"Steve?" A shaky voice of his best friend floated from behind him. Captain America shifted on his feet, locking eyes with Bucky immediately, running his gaze up and down for any life-threatening injuries on his friend, failing to see any.
"Buck," Steve breathed out, walking towards the tormented soldier. He clasped his shoulder with his hand. Bucky was okay.
"What happened?" Bucky asked quietly. A chill nipped at his skin. He glanced up towards the sky where clouds had gathered and cast a grey shadow over them, small bullets of water began to pelt down. "Where have they gone?"
"I don't know —"
"— Cap?"
He paused. He shot his head around and felt his chest collapse when he looked at him. No, no, no. Not him.
"Sam?" Steve rushed towards his fellow friend. Bucky in tow.
Sam dropped to his knees. He lifted his hands up in horror. "What the fuck —" Sam had fallen through Steve's fingers in a matter of moments.
Steve shuddered a breath. Bucky clenched his gun.
"No, no," Steve mumbled out, his own hand began to shake as he dropped it to the dewy grass where his friend had disintegrated before him.
"Bruce? Bruce!"
Steve shot his head up, hearing the panicked shout from the familiar assassin he had grown close to. There was a loud clang of metal falling to the ground.
Thor lifted his head up in alarm at hearing the metal drop. He glanced down at Steve and Bucky before forcing himself to move his stone feet towards the sound. He could barely prepare himself for what he saw.
The Hulk buster laid lifeless on the floor, dust mixing with the heavy raindrops while Natasha had fallen to her knees, her shoulders heaving. Banner had fallen to the mercy of the Snap's destruction.
Thor clenched his hand around Stormbreaker. His blood pounding in his ears. You should have gone for the head.
Hidden in the forrest, Rocket the Racoon was clutching at the last remains of his dear friend, Groot, who had also fallen victim to the Snap. Shortly behind him were the shouts from General Okoye as she watched her King fall before her. She was unable to save him.
Rhodey's metal legs clanked as he moved out of the hidden forrest, shifting his confused gaze around at the down-trodden looks painted on his friends faces, for he had not seen the fated demise of his fallen comrades.
"What happened? Where's Sam? And Banner?"
Steve dropped to his knees beside the lifeless body of Vision, just beside Wanda's ashes.
"Oh god."

Safely tucked away in the dark void of SPACE, the Sanctuary was humming with the sound of victory. The Black Order had gathered in the Throne Room, awaiting their father's return. They had noted the outcry from civilisations across the whole of space and knew that Thanos had fulfilled his destiny.
Fortunately for them, none of them had fallen victim to the restoration of balance. Regardless, they would rejoice either way, even if they had lost one another.
Destiny had been fulfilled.
"Father should arrive soon," Proxima Midnight noted as she softly caressed her husbands torso that had been sliced by one of the wretched humans on Earth.
Ebony Maw hissed gleefully, he curled his blistered fingers around one another, a painful reminder of being tricked by the unholy Midgardian's. "It appears the Saviour has turned off her correspondence, you don't suppose that she has restored the balance with her timely death?" He breathed, hope coated his words.
Proxima Midnight narrowed her dark blue eyes to slits. "Watch how you speak, she is still our sister. And our Saviour."
Ebony Maw hissed.
Corvus Glaive clenched his hand around his metal prong, lifting it up and dropping it heavily to the floor in warning.
Cull Obsidian merely grunted.
The Black Order stood straight when the swish of the doors opened. The looming body of the Mad Titan, Thanos, entered the Throne Room. A green glint travelled up his arm and chest. The Black Order dropped to kneel before him.
"My humble personage thanks you for restoring the balance," Ebony Maw hissed softly. His head lifted to stare up at the Mad Titan whose face was layered by a thin sheet of sadness.
They parted like the sea for Thanos to walk towards his Throne. He didn't make a move to sit down. He stared at his Throne, then glanced at his golden gauntlet.
Proxima Midnight shot a wary look towards her husband.
The Black Order stood to their feet.
"Father," Proxima Midnight decided to tread lightly. Corvus Glaive clenched her forearm in warning. Something was wrong. "Where is our sister?"
The Children of Thanos awaited with bated breath for his answer.
A gleeful look painted on Ebony Maw's blistered face as his lips curled up, "I am sure the Saviour will rest well knowing she restored the balance —"
He was cut off by a purple beam shooting across the Throne Room and searing into the wall as Thanos released an angered cry. The Black Order stood still.
Thanos breathed out deeply. His hands clenched, while a shooting pain ran up his injured arm but he paid little attention to it.
"Saviour." Thanos whispered, the word coiling around them like the rope of a nouse. He shook his head slowly, a humourless chuckle passing his bloodied lips. "Saviour? I ask you to tell me who the Saviour is, my children."
The Black Order remained silent.
"For she is a traitor." Thanos hissed out in seething anger, his words whipping at them. He smacked his gauntlet hand down against his throne, cracking the stone under the weight. "One born from the void between life and death itself. A child, whom I saved! And this is how she repays me?"
The Mad Titan slowly turned around to face the remainder of his loyal children. His face masked the heated anger that burned within. "I ask you, my children, to travel the stars and tell those who remain, to listen. Paint her name across the stars in blood. Tell them all who she is."
Cull Obsidian grunted.
Thanos shook his head, releasing a small sigh as his shoulders relaxed. He cast another look at his gauntlet. "No. I do not want you to find her because you never will. She will come to me."
"But sire —" Ebony Maw began.
"— She will come to me when the time is right." Thanos forced out, his words weighing heavily on the Black Order.
"Who is she, my sire?" Corvus Glaive asked after a moments glance at his wife who had barely lifted her gaze off from the ground. "Who is the Saviour?"
Thanos's bloodied lips curled back in heated anger as the betrayal seared into his words. "She is the one who will reign above us all. She is the one who will rip this world apart to its last atom by a whisper of a death sentence from her treasonous lips. For she is the brink between life or death."
The Black Order knelt before the Mad Titan, drowning in his angered waves.
"Destiny will not be fulfilled until she has fallen."
