"I want to talk to my daughter" Liz said once Finn opens the door. It's been a few days since Elena's died and Liz wants answers, answers she knows Claire has.

"Now's not a good time" Finn warns her.

"It's urgent" Liz insists before squeezing her way into the room. Finn went to say something but Caroline comes into view.

"Mom, hi" Caroline smiles at her. "I'll talk to her" Finn nods before walking back up the steps towards Claire. "What can I do for you?"

"I need to talk to Claire" Liz said. Caroline's smile disappears.

"Now's really not a good time" Caroline told her. Liz frowns her eyebrows and tilts her head.

"What happened to Elena Gilbert?" Liz questions crossing her arms. Caroline sighs running a hand through her hair.

"Elijah, can we use your study?" Caroline questions. Liz looks around but doesn't see Elijah. The noble Mikaelson responds from inside Claire's room. "Come on" Caroline leads her mother into the study so they can speak privately. Caroline closes the door behind them.

"What's going on here?" Liz questions sternly. "I know you and Claire are in all of this trouble somehow and I need you to talk to me. Tell me what is happening." Caroline sighs. "I have been out of the loop for long enough and now two people are dead. Start talking"

"Where would you like me to begin?" Caroline asks sitting down on the couch. Liz continues to stand.

"How about you start with Carol Lockwood's death" Liz snipped crossing her arms.

"Tyler was planning on killing Klaus. His plan failed and Klaus killed Carol in retaliation." Caroline told her bluntly. Liz's eyes widened and she sat down not expecting this.

Liz knew the Mikaelson's were behind Carol's death but she thought she would have to try harder for this kind of information. She knew Klaus is dangerous but the way he acts around Claire, she honestly didn't want to believe her suspicions.

"And you didn't think to tell me this?" Liz asked raising her eyebrows. Liz felt slightly betrayed. Her two daughters, her twins, knew information on the mayor's death and they kept it to themselves. They harbored a murderer, they withheld information. That wasn't how Liz raised them.

"What would you have done? Arrest Klaus?" Caroline asked raising her eyebrows. "Klaus would have tried to kill you before you had the chance." Liz presses her lips together and shifts in her seat. "I'm sorry Carol died" Caroline told her truthfully. "We couldn't stop Klaus, it won't happen again." Caroline reassures her. Though Caroline didn't know if that would happen. Everything's changing and Caroline didn't think the deaths were going to stop with Elena.

"But it did"Liz said. Caroline frowns her eyebrows. To her knowledge, Klaus hasn't killed anybody else. "Elena Gilbert is dead but you already knew that" Caroline tenses. She realizes that she thinks Klaus killed Elena. "What happened?" Caroline hesitates but then explains.

"There's a cure for vampirism." Liz's eyes widened. "Jeremy is a type of hunter that has an invisible map on his arm, it grows every time he kills a vampire. Only he can see the map, that map leads to the cure. Elena came up with the idea of killing an Original. We found out from Alaric that if you kill an Original, their entire sire line dies with them. So, Elena forces Jeremy to kill Kol. So not only is Claire's soulmate dead but thousands of vampires around the world, wiped out within hours."

"And Elena?" Liz asks hesitantly.

"Claire drove a steak through her heart." Caroline told her without remorse. Liz's eyes widened.

Caroline believed that Claire is completely justified in killing Elena. Elena should have known better than to kill someone's soulmate. Caroline has seen how Claire reacts with her soulmates and how they react to her. She's also seen Bonnie and Jamie. She knew that kind of love, that kind of supernatural connection isn't something to be taken lightly.

"What?" Liz whispers standing up. Caroline knew Liz wasn't going to understand this. She was going to label Claire as a murderer but Caroline wasn't about to let her. Claire's going through enough right now and she doesn't need to have to worry about her mother on top of everything.

"Claire killed Elena because Elena killed Kol." Caroline said simply.

"Claire committed murder because Elena killed one of her boyfriends?" Liz said slowly becoming outraged. Caroline growls and stands up. Liz takes a step back shocked by Caroline's behavior.

"Kol wasn't just one of her boyfriends, he was one of her soulmates" She snapped. "You don't understand that and I don't care but in the supernatural world, a soulmate is so sacred that giving Elena the death she got was the easy way. Claire had every right to kill Elena."

"Nobody has any right to kill anybody!" Liz snapped. "It's murder Caroline, nobody is above the law."

"I've killed before mom, you know that. So why am I not in jail?" Caroline asked crossing her arms. "Do you not care because you don't know my victim personally? Do you only care because it's Elena? With the way Elena was acting, she was going to get herself killed sooner or later. Her desperation to get the cure was controlling her, if it wasn't Claire who killed her it would have been somebody else."

Liz begins to pace as she tries to wrap her mind around everything. Of course Liz felt more affected by the fact that it's Elena, she's wanted the Gilbert girl grow from a baby. Not only that but it's Claire that committed the murder.

"Mom, you should see Claire" Liz looks at her. "Once you see her, you'll know that Kol wasn't just some boyfriend. Mom, she's... in bad shape."

"The difference between you and her, is that when you killed, you couldn't control yourself. When she killed, she was of sound mind and made the conscious decision to end a life." Liz tells her.

"Mom, please go see her, you'll understand." Caroline pleads. "Elena literally destroyed a piece of her soul, mom" Caroline tries to explain.

"By law, I'm required to arrest both her and Klaus." Liz says.

"Don't" Caroline said quickly. "They won't let you.. They'll kill you before you could even get near her if you try." Liz sighs.

"I'll do what I can to make sure that nothing comes back to Claire and the Mikaelson's." Liz said before leaving the study.

"Mom... Mom please" Caroline said following her. "Go see Claire, I'm begging you."

"I can't" Liz said standing by the door. She grabs the door handle. "How can I look at her after everything she's done?"

"After everything she's done?" Caroline snapped. "She avenged her mate. Elena murdered thousands of lives and you're going to hold Claire accountable of one justified kill?" Caroline shakes her head and opens the door for Liz. "We don't need you." Liz quickly looks at her daughter but Caroline just glares at her. Liz sighs and leaves.

Jeremy stands from the bed in the spare room he's been occupying in the Mikaelson mansion. He couldn't bring himself to go home, he didn't want too. There was a knock at the door that gained his attention. When he opened it and saw Claire standing there, he couldn't keep the shocked look off his face.

"Can I come in?" She asked softly. He nods and moves to the side. She enters the room, his eyes follow her. "How are you holding up?"

"Alright... I guess" Jeremy shrugs. "It's kind of hard to get my head around it."

"Tell me about it" Claire whispers turning towards him. "So, did it work?" She asked. He nods. His hands go to take his shirt off. She walks closer now able to see the completed tattoo. "So this is what everyone wanted so desperately" She whispers walking around him.

"I didn't want to kill him." Jeremy mutters. She stops in front of him.

"I know" She nods. "I saw you pulling the steak out... It's why you're not dead right now." Jeremy winces at the tone in her voice. She sounded... dangerous. "I'm sorry for your loss, I never wanted Elena dead... but she forced my hand, I had no choice. I couldn't let her live."

"I know" Jeremy looks away from her. He understood why Claire killed Elena but he wasn't happy about it. He loved Elena, still does. She was his only family and Claire took that from him. At the same time, he couldn't blame Claire, couldn't be angry with her.

One of the worst things in the world is having so much rage and not having anything, anyone to take it out on. Jeremy felt as if he had all the rage in the world but nowhere to direct it.

"I'm sorry I couldn't stop Elena before she could follow through" Jeremy said looking at Claire. The younger Forbes twin simply nods.

"I want you to know that you're more than welcome to stay here for as long as you want. I don't blame you if you don't want to go home." She tells him.

"Thanks" She nods. "If you need anything, just let me know." She said before leaving.

"Claire" She stops in the middle of the hallway and sees Elijah walking towards her.

"Don't ask" She tells him. "For the love of God do not ask me how I am" He gives her a small smile and places a kiss on top of her head.

"I was simply going to suggest you get something to eat." He said. She goes to protest. "Please, Elskan... Eat something, for the babe"

"Fine" She mutters. He whispers his thanks before leading her to the kitchen where the rest of her mates were. She gives them a small smile before sitting at the island between Klaus and Henrik. "I have to talk to Rebekah"

"She's out with Asher, I'll text her" Klaus kisses the side of her head before going to retrieve his phone.

"Here you go, Elskan" Elijah hands her a peanut butter and pickle sandwich. She smiles slightly and takes the sandwich. She only gets a couple of bites before Caroline speeds into the room.

"Your magic" Caroline said as if she's found the cure to the common cold.

"What?" Claire asked. Caroline takes Klaus's seat.

"When Henrik was still on the Other Side, your magic brought him back whenever you siphoned from someone" Claire's eyes widened. Elijah appears beside Claire and offers his hand.

"If it works, nobody will be able to see him beside Claire and I" Elijah warns them. Claire grabs his hand without a second thought. She begins to siphon from him before her eyes dart around the kitchen looking for him.

"Even after all the time you've wasted crying, you still look like the most beautiful creature to ever grace the Earth" Claire couldn't believe her eyes. They instantly water. She could hardly believe that he is standing in front of her. "Speechless, darling? Well that's a first."

"Kol" She whispers raising her free hand to cup his cheek. He instantly leans into her touch. She releases Elijah and hugs Kol. Knowing the recently deceased Original is with Claire, everyone leaves the kitchen to give her time. "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry I couldn't save you" She cries.

"No, no, sweetheart, don't be sorry" He holds her tightly. He buries his head in her neck. His heart drops to his stomach as he can not longer see his mark, can no longer smell his scent mixed with hers. "I acted rashly."

"No, shit" Claire snapped shoving him. "If you would have just listened to me, if you would have just stayed with me, we wouldn't be in this situation" She growls shoving him again.

"Well, you better believe that I'll never do anything like this again" He smirks at her.

"This isn't a game, Kol" Claire snapped. "You're dead" She said. Her body sags and tears fall down her face. "You're dead"

"But I'm not gone" He says taking her face within his hands. "I will come back to you. I will help you raise our son."

"I'll bring you back.. I'll do anything, I promise you." She says before kissing him passionately. He picks her up and she wraps her legs around him. He sets her on the island and grips her tightly.

"I love you, Claire Forbes." He whispers to her. "Take care of yourself, get some sleep... I'll be holding you for real before you know it" He tucks some of her hair behind her ear. "I love you, darling, raise hell while I'm gone."

"Let me worry about things here, you behave yourself. The last thing I need is for you to do something or say something that will piss off the ancestors and make getting you back harder." Claire tells him. He gives her a salute.

"I'll be a perfect school boy" He assures her with a boyish grin on his face. He could feel himself fading away and knew he didn't have time. "I love you, Claire" He said desperately and Claire knew what was happening.

"I love you too, Kol...I love you so much" She clings onto him as tightly as she can but ever so slowly, his disappears.
