*Chapter Nine* {History Repeating}

"Can we talk?" Bonnie asked the second Claire opened the door. The younger twin nodded and allowed Bonnie in her home. "Is Caroline here?"

"No, I think she's out with Matt. They've been spending a lot of time together" Claire said smiling happily. She didn't know if Caroline and Matt would officially get together and if they did, she didn't know if they would stay together. They were almost completely different but Matt was much better than Damon. They seemed happy with whatever was going on between them and Claire was happy for them.

"Really? Good, I'm glad she's not hanging around Damon anymore." Bonnie muttered. Claire nodded in agreement.

"What did you want to talk about?" Claire asked. Bonnie looked at her hesitantly before grabbing her hand and taking her into her bedroom. "Bonnie, what's going on?"

"Remember when I was talking about being a psychic and Grams told me I was a witch?" Bonnie said closing Claire's door.

"Yeah" Claire dragged out not understanding. Bonnie took a deep breath.

"She was right" Bonnie told her. "I am a witch. All the stories Grams told you, they're real." Claire frowned her eyebrows. "I can prove it" Bonnie added quickly.

"Ok, what do you need?" Claire said with an open mind. Bonnie smiled and looked around.

"Do you have a feather?" Bonnie asked. Claire raised her eyebrow but Bonnie just gave her a pleading look. Claire nodded and went into her mothers room stealing one of her feather pillows and then found a knife. She cut into the pillow and dumped the feathers on her bed in front of Bonnie.

"Take your pick" Claire said tossing the knife off to the side. Bonnie looked at her amused but did as told, grabbing a feather. She then demonstrated what she had done to Elena, she made the feather rise in the air. "Awesome" Claire whispered. "That's amazing Bonnie" Claire smiled at her.

"You can't tell anybody, don't even tell Grams you know. I'm not supposed to tell anybody." Bonnie said. "That includes Caroline" She pointed at Claire.

"Does anybody else know?" Claire asked.

"Elena" Bonnie told her reluctantly.

"So you're telling everyone except Caroline?" Claire asked disapprovingly.

"Not everyone, just you and Elena" Bonnie told her. "Caroline isn't going to believe me. She's going to make fun of me and make a mockery of this. Please don't tell her." Claire's shoulders deflated not wanting to keep secrets from her sister.

"Fine" Claire muttered with much reluctance. It wasn't her secret to tell. Even though she didn't like keeping stuff from Caroline and she wished Bonnie would tell her, she would keep it to herself.

"Thank you" Bonnie said hugging her. Claire sighed and hugged her back.

"Is this why you've been distant lately?" Claire asked pulling away. Bonnie shrugged sheepishly. Claire gave her a small smile. "I'm glad you told me." Bonnie nodded.

"So am I... it's like a weight is off of my shoulders" Bonnie said and Claire nodded.

"Oh!" Claire shouted and quickly grabbed Bonnie's hand. Bonnie jumped startled and looked at Claire in confusion. However, it ended when Claire placed Bonnie's hand on her stomach. Bonnie's eyes widened as she could feel the babies moving.

"Wow" Bonnie whispered. Claire nodded smiling.

"They've been very active lately" Claire muttered. "As if I needed help not sleeping" She rolled her eyes. Bonnie gave her a small smile taking in Claire's appearance.

The pregnant girl was paler than usual with bags, that seemed permanent lately, under her eyes. She didn't look like herself. Claire always cared about her appearance and now, Claire would give anything for some peaceful sleep.

"Maybe you should go see your doctor. They might be able to get you something to help you sleep" Bonnie suggested.

"Like I have money for more doctors visits.. I'm barely holding on as it is" Claire whispered rubbing her stomach. Bonnie sighed wishing there was something she could do for her. "I'll be fine. I'm halfway through six months and I've read online that twins nearly always come early. Hopefully not too early but I highly doubt I'll be waiting until February."

"What does your doctor think?" Bonnie asked as Claire sat on the bed, unable to stay on her feet anymore. Bonnie said next to her.

"She said it could be anywhere from now until February but she thinks sometime in January" Claire explained. "I can't wait until these kids are out, hopefully then I'll get some sleep" Claire muttered. Bonnie smiled and rubbed her back.

"You'll be alright, it'll all be worth it in the end" Bonnie said. Claire smiled at her nodding.

It was during Thanksgiving break when Bonnie told Claire she was a witch. She hated keeping it from Caroline but she promised Bonnie she would. Claire never thought she'd look forward to going to school but she did. She craved the normalcy that school brought. She hated just sitting around the house, around her mother, for more than a few hours.

"Have you talked to Bonnie?" Elena asked walking to school with Claire and Caroline.

"No, I'm mad at her. She needs to make the first move" Caroline snipped. Claire rolls her eyes.

"Be the bigger person" Elena tries.

"Impossible in her presence" Caroline growled.

"Care" Claire muttered with a sigh wishing Caroline would just drop it. She didn't know what the big deal was about this necklace, she just wished someone would give and they could all go back to being best friends again.

"Why are you so pissed at her anyway?" Caroline asked.

"She's a thief, that's why. I gave her my necklace, and she refuses to give it back. It's a matter of principle" Caroline grumbled stubbornly.

"Alright. Well, I tried. I'm officially out of it" Elena said shaking her head.

"Good" Caroline praised. "Your turn. Where's Stefan? Have you talked to him?"

"He's avoiding me" Elena told them.

"Why?" Claire piped up. Elena doesn't answer right away.

"It's complicated." Elena said eventually. "I'll see you two later" Elena said quickly walking away as the bell rings.

"Hey" Caroline said perking up at the sight of Matt.

"Hey" Matt said but continued walking. Caroline looked slightly disappointed.

"Come on" Claire said dragging Caroline to class.

"And then, I ended up at the remains of the old Fell's church before I woke up back in the woods" Bonnie explained to Claire and Elena about her dream during lunch.

"And you always see your ancestor Emily?" Elena asked. Bonnie nodded.

"Do you believe in ghosts?" Bonnie asked.

"Yep" Claire said nodding as she thinks about ghost boy. Bonnie smiles happy she believed her so easily before looking at Elena.

"Two weeks ago I'd say no, but now.." Elena shrugged.

"Because I think I'm being haunted." Bonnie told them.

"Why Emily?" Claire asked.

"Grams said she was a powerful witch back in the Civil War days, and that this medallion was hers. A witch's talisman." Bonnie explained.

"And it all started when you got the necklace?" Elena asked.

"I think she's sing it to communicate with me" Bonnie said.

"Have you talked to Shelia about it?" Claire asked curiously.

"I can't call her" Bonnie told her instantly. "She's gonna tell me to embrace it. I don't want to embrace it, I want it to stop." Bonnie growled. Claire nodded sympathetically.

"Does Emily talk to you?" Claire asked curiously.

"Sometimes, why?" Bonnie asked.

"Do you see her when you're not dreaming?" Claire asked another questioned. Bonnie slowly shook her head and Claire's face fell slightly.

"Why? Are you seeing people?" Elena asked. Claire bit her lip and rubbed her stomach anxiously. She reached into her bag and grabbed her notebook. It was supposed to be the place where she took notes but she did more drawing than anything.

She didn't just do random drawings she drew specific people. Sometimes she drew her friends but most of the time she drew them. Caroline is the only one who knows about them. All she says is that they are a figment of her imagination, that she's dreaming of the perfect men but Claire knew they were far from perfect but at the same time, she felt connected to them.

"Wow, these are really good." Elena complimented.

"Thanks" Claire said as both her friends looked at the drawings closer. She let them look at the ones she had drawn of their friends before flipping to the drawings she had of them.

"Who are these people?" Bonnie asked not recognizing them. She and Elena flipped through them. There were multiple drawings of them. They were all drawn in clothes from different centuries.

"The Originals" Claire told them.

"Originals?" Bonnie asked frowning her eyebrows. Claire shrugged not completely understanding it either. Her dreams about them could be extremely vague.

"Niklaus" Claire pointed to one of the men. "Kol. Elijah. Finn." She said pointing them all out.

"They're handsome" Bonnie noted. Claire nodded.

"Where have you seen them before?" Elena asked.

"My dreams." She said. "Caroline is the only one who knows about them. She says they're not real, that they're just a figment of my imagination."

"What do you believe?" Bonnie asked.

"I don't know... My dreams vary. I didn't draw them in different styles of clothes for the hell of it, my dreams show me of them in different centuries." Claire said. Elena and Bonnie shared a look. "But how would that be possible? No one can live like they live."

"How do they live?" Elena asked. Claire hesitated. "You can tell us anything" Elena said grabbing her hand comfortingly. Claire sighed.

"They drink blood. I've seen them massacre hundreds, thousands of people." She told them. She wasn't hesitant to tell them because she was ashamed of their actions, she wasn't. Something told her that it was in their nature to act like they do. She understood their actions though she didn't exactly condone them. "I know, sounds crazy" Claire said.

"So does being a witch" Bonnie spoke up. Claire smiled at her. "Are you seeing these guys when you're not sleeping?" Bonnie asked

"No, not them" She said and continued to flip through the book before stopping on ghost boy.

"Who's this?" Elena asked. Claire shrugged.

"I don't know. I don't see him in my dreams." She told them.

"How do you see him?" Bonnie asked. Claire sighed as she tried to think of how to word it.

"He just.. appears sometimes" Claire told them. "He'll move his mouth but I can't hear him. I can't touch him and he can't touch nor hear me... At least I don't think he can hear me" Claire muttered. "I don't know how I'm seeing him or why but I was just hoping it was how you saw Emily and you could help."

"I'll look around Grams stuff, see if I can't find anything" Bonnie said. Claire smiled at her gratefully. "Let's have a girls night" Bonnie suggested. Claire and Elena looked at her. "The four of us."

"That actually sounds like a good idea" Elena said. Claire nodded. "My house?" She suggested.

"Well it sure as hell isn't going to be at mine" Claire told them. They smiled.

"I'm sorry, there, I said it" Caroline told Bonnie after her and Claire arrived at Elena's house later after school. Claire had been on her ass about making things right with Bonnie and she finally caved. "If you want the ugly-ass necklace, keep it. It's yours."

"Will you hate me if I tell you I threw it away?" Bonnie asked looking guilty. Claire face palmed and groaned quietly.

"You threw it away?" Caroline snapped in annoyance.

"I know it sounds crazy, but the necklace was giving me nightmares. I had to get rid of it." Bonnie told her defensively.

"You could have just given it back to me!" Caroline growled.

"Why? So you could give it back to Damon?" Elena asked jumping in.

"Screw Damon." Caroline said making them smile. "Are we doing manicures or what? Who was their kid?" Caroline asked.

"Oh my God am I in need of a manicure" Claire muttered looking at her neglected finger nails pouting slightly.

"Mine's in my bag" Bonnie sad. Caroline went over to it and looked through it.

"So, Elena.. How long do you think this fight with Stefan's gonna last? Is it... like a permanent thing?"

"I don't know, Caroline" Elena sighed.

"Why are you such a little liar, Bonnie?" Caroline roared pulling out the necklace.

"What?" Bonnie asked.

"Caroline!" Elena's mouth dropped.

"I'm not lying to you, Caroline. I swear" Bonnie said quickly.

"It's true. I watched her throw it into a field" Elena backed her up. Caroline looked at her sister expectantly.

"Don't bring me into this" She begged. Caroline rolled her eyes.

"Then explain it" She snapped frustratingly.

"Emily" Bonnie realized looking at Elena to Claire.

"Who's Emily?" Caroline questioned.

"The ghost" Bonnie told her.

"Oh, the ghost has a name now?" Caroline scoffed.

"Caroline, please" Elena begged.

"I wonder why she won't leave me alone" Bonnie whined looking at Claire.

"What is going on?" Caroline asked. "Why am I not a part of this conversation? You guys do this to me all the time" Caroline pouted.

"That's not true" Elena said but Bonnie stepped up.

"Yes it is. I can't talk to you. You don't listen." Bonnie snapped. Claire wanted to defend her sister but also wanted to see how Caroline reacted so she stayed quiet.

"I'm a witch" Bonnie stated crossing her arms.

"And don't we all know it?" Caroline scoffed.

"See?" Bonnie snapped. "That's why I'm talking about. I'm trying to tell you something. You don't even hear it" Bonnie rolled her eyes.

"I listen. When do I not listen?" Caroline asked confused.

"Care, it's true. She is a witch. Let her prove it to you." Claire said.

"Bonnie, look, it's just not me" Caroline explained. "I don't believe in the-" She makes noises and hand gestures. "-Woo woo." Claire snorted in amusement. "But if you do, then.. ok. I'm in. Why don't we have a seance?" She suggested.

"I don't think that's a good idea" Bonnie muttered nervously.

"Come on" Caroline whined. "Let's summon some spirits. This Emily chick has some serious explaining to do." Caroline stated.

"Might give you some answers, Bonbon" Claire said shrugging. Bonnie sighed and reluctantly nodded. They all went to Elena's room. "Do we have to sit on the floor?" Claire whined.

"Oh stop being a baby" Caroline said grabbing her sisters hands and helped her sit on the floor.

"You're going to have to use a crane to get me up" Claire warned. They laughed.

"What are we doing?" Bonnie asked. They all sat in a circle with some candles in front of them.

"I don't know" Elena shrugged. Caroline quickly shushed them. They all held hands, Claire holding her sister and Bonnie. She wiggled her eyebrows at Elena getting her to laugh.

"Be quiet" She said giving her sister a look. Claire smiled at her sheepishly. "And concentrate. Close your eyes. Now take a deep breath...Bonnie. Call to her." They all did as told.

"Emily.. You there?" Bonnie asked. Claire snorted at her lack of interest.

"Really? Emily, you there?" Caroline mocked. "That's all you got? Come on" She urged.

"Fine, geeze" Bonnie said and they closed their eyes again. "Emily, I call on you. I know you have a message. I'm here to listen." Bonnie said. The first few moments, nothing happened and then the flames to the candles flared startling all of them.

That wasn't the only feaky thing that happened. Claire got their weird feeling. She felt like something was coursing through her veins. Something strong, something powerful. It felt good.

Bonnie looked at her hand, the one Claire had been holding. Her whole arm, but especially her hand, tingled in pain. It wasn't an intense pain, more like a numbness. Like she had slept on it wrong for too long.

"Did that just.." Elena spoke regaining Claire and Bonnie's attention.

"Yeah, it just happened." Caroline said, hands in her lap.

"It's just that air conditioning" Bonnie reasoned. A moment later, the flames flared again and stayed like that.

"Ask her to show you a sign." Caroline said quickly and Bonnie shook her head. "Ask her" She insisted but Bonnie still refused. "Emily, if you're among us, show us another sign" She called out.

"See? It's not working" Bonnie said. Then the windows burst open scaring the shit out of them. "I can't, I'm done" Bonnie stood up. She yanked her necklace off and threw it by the candles. A moment later the candles go out. "Get the light. Please get the light!" Bonnie shouted.

"Caroline?" Claire asked feeling a hand holding hers.

"Yea?" Claire tensed. Caroline was on the opposite side of the room, same with Elena and Bonnie. However, she knew someone was holding her hand.

It was strange. Even after everything that happened and the fact the lights were still out. She didn't feel scared. She did at first but not anymore. She felt a wave of comfort wash over her and suddenly she felt safe, like nothing could ever harm her.

"Please be careful, darling" A comforting voice whispers in her ear. She doesn't recognize the voice. Elena turns the lights on and Claire instantly looks towards the one holding her hand. She gasps softly when she sees Ghost boy.

Claire doesn't even pay attention to the other girls as her eyes lock with his green ones. He grips her hand tightly. He lifts his other hand and caresses her face softly. She instantly leans against it.

She never wanted this moment to end. She wanted to stay with him forever. She wanted him to stay with her. She was desperate.

"So beautiful" He whispers going to press his lips on her forehead but disappeared before he could.

"No" She whimpers feeling more alone than she has her entire life. "Come back" She cries, a tear falling down her face.

Claire doesn't snap out of her daze until the lights begin to flicker and Bonnie screams. She struggles, hard core, to stand up. Once she does and she makes it to the door, it opens.

"What happened? Are you ok?" Elena asked.

"I'm fine" Bonnie said in a monotone.

"Unbelievable." Caroline scoffed. "You were totally faking it"

"Caroline, come on" Elena begged.

"No! You scared the hell out of us" Caroline snapped grabbing her sisters hand. Claire hardly noticed, her mind still mulling over her small moment with ghost boy.

"Bonnie?" Elena asked.

"I'm fine. Everything's fine." Bonnie reassured. She goes past them.

"I can't believe I fell for it" Caroline snapped.

"Are you ok?" Elena asked looking at Bonnie.

"I must go" Bonnie said going for the steps.

"She's leaving. We're leaving." Caroline said talking for Claire.

"You guys can't leave" Elena protested.

"We can. I've had enough freaky fake witch stuff for one night" Caroline told them.

"Thank you for having me. I'll take it from here" Bonnie told them.

"Where are you going?" Elena asked.

"Back to where it all began." Bonnie told them.

"Bonnie! Bonnie!" Elena said trying to gain her attention but Bonnie ignores her. "Oh my God, Emily!" This gets her attention. Claire snaps out of her daze, her eyes widening. Worry filling her over Bonnie.

"I won't let him have it. It must be destroyed" Emily stated before leaving.

"Wait!" Elena shouts racing after her. Caroline goes after Elena with Claire slowly following them.

"What is happening?" Caroline asked as Elena tried to open the door but Emily wouldn't allow it.

"I don't know. The door, it's not.." She doesn't finish as it finally opens and Jeremy walks in scaring them.

"What the hell?" Jeremy asked.

"We're outta here" Caroline said grabbing her sister and dragging her out of the room.

"Wait, what about Bonnie?" Claire said worriedly.

"I'll find her, just go home" Elena said before going back into the house. Caroline climbed into the car with Claire. She rambled on about Bonnie and how she was upset about being scared but Claire couldn't find it in her to pay attention.

Dear Diary,
Today has been one hell of a day. First, I attended a seance with Bonnie, Elena and Caroline. Bonnie's being haunted by her ancestor Emily. I don't know why but she was. Now she's possessed and out there somewhere. Elena's looking for her.
Something else happened during the seance... I can't really explain it. I was holding hands with Bonnie and while Bonnie was calling for Emily, I got this feeling. It was strange. I felt like this power was entering my body, flowing through my veins. It felt like for the first time in my life I was complete, like I was how I was meant to be.
Then, it happened. Ghost boy appeared. He held my hand, touched my cheek. He talked to me. Then he was gone. I finally had him and then he was gone. I don't think I've ever felt so lonely before. I miss him so bad it physically hurts. I want... I need him here with me. The feeling I got when we were together, even though it was just that little time, gave me a sense of hope and peace I haven't felt in a very long time. When everything with Bonnie calms down I'm going to talk to her. Maybe we can look for a way to keep him here with me permanently.
