*Chapter Eight* {Haunted/162 Candles}
*Just so ya'll know, these chapters are pre-written. If I get more votes on my chapters or a few comments, I'll publish them faster. This means we get through the episodes quicker and to the Mikaelson's sooner. Just throwing that out there.
Also, I skipped around a little bit. I will continue to do this to keep the book going. If you ever get confused on where we're at, let me know and I'll be sure to explain better. Enjoy!!*
"Caroline, I wanna go" Claire whined to her older sister. "I have my costume all ready. I've never missed a Halloween party before."
"Claire, you've literally thrown up like four times today. Yesterday was 5. You're exhausted, you're losing your voice and you're coughing. You are staying home." Caroline said grabbing her sisters shoulders looking into her eyes. "Face it, you're sick."
"I don't get sick." Claire reminded her.
"Just because you haven't gotten sick in... who knows how long, doesn't mean you can't get sick." Caroline explained. "In case you forgot, you're pregnant... With twins... You have to be careful. Just stay home and relax for a little bit. I'll be home later tonight and I'll bring you some candy."
"Fine" Claire grumbled. Caroline smirked victoriously and let her sister go. "Have fun without me" She said sarcastically.
"Oh I will" Caroline teased giving her sister a wink. "Don't do anything stupid!" She shouted as she left.
"How can I? You're taking all the stupid with you" Claire commented but Caroline was long gone. Claire sighed and looked around at the house. She was in her lazy clothes; sweat pants, long sleeved shirt, fuzzy socks and her robe. With her hair up in a bun, she felt like a true mother.
She sighed to herself and curled on the couch pulling a blanket over her. Sometimes she felt as if she couldn't get warm enough. This pregnancy was a whirl wind of emotions for her.
At first, she was terrified. Completely and utterly scared out of her mind. Not that she's not scared anymore but it has lessened a little bit or perhaps she's just grown accustomed to the fear. Then she hit the baby-moon which is the equivalent to the honey-moon stage. That was her favorite. The part where she actually grew excited and couldn't wait to become a mother.
Now, she hated being pregnant. Her ankles are always swollen. Her feet are extremely sore along with her back and legs. She can't ever seem to get comfortable. Her cravings were all over the place, though pickles were still a safe bet. And now she's getting sick.
It's not the first time she's gotten sick while being pregnant but this time is worse than the last. The last time she really only had head aches and a sore throat. Now, she's throwing up, has a constant head ache, sore throat to the point where she's losing her voice and a continuous cough.
Even though she desperately wanted to go to the Halloween party with Caroline, it didn't take much convincing her her to stay home. While she loved a good party, cuddling with blankets on the couch just seemed like a better idea.
"Can I get you anything?" Liz asked coming in front of Claire. The daughter gave her mother an evil eye.
Ever since Claire had first gotten sick, which was only a few weeks ago, Liz started trying to make amends. Though in Claire's book, she wasn't trying nearly hard enough. Her mother tried talking to her but that was it. She gave up way too easily. Claire was giving her a taste of her own medicine, the good ole silent treatment.
"When was the last time you checked you're temperature?" Liz asked coming up to press her hand on her forehead but Claire swatted her hand away. "I'm just trying to help" Liz told her and Claire snapped.
"Help? Where were you almost six months ago when I found out I was pregnant? Where were you when I was coming to terms with the fact that I'm having twins? Where were you when I needed a shoulder to cry on or a mothers hug? Huh? Where were you when I went baby shopping or finishing the nursery? You haven't spoke to me in months and now you want to help? Now you want to be there? I don't think so" Claire snapped wishing she was in better health because her scratchy voice didn't really portray the amount of anger she felt towards her mother.
Liz pressed her lips together, slightly hurt by her daughters words before walking away. Claire glared down at her lap, her hand caressing her stomach. She let out a frustrated sigh wishing her mother would fight more for her forgiveness.
"Happy Halloween" Claire muttered bitterly before coughing. The sound of Halloween Town playing in the background.
Claire doesn't know when she fell asleep but sometime after her little confrontation with her mother, her eyes close and she's propelled into dream land. One of the things Claire hates as she gets close to her third trimester, is the dreams. They were so vivid. Ever since she got pregnant she was getting vivid dreams but recently, they were starting to scare her.
She dreamed about having a miscarriage. She dreamed about having them taken from her by people she didn't recognize. She dreamed about people hurting them. She dreamed about all of the things she feared and it left her terrified when she woke up.
Because of her dreams, she found herself getting less and less sleep. She figured that was one of the reasons how she was starting to get sick. The lack of sleep, the stress, it was all starting to increase no matter what she did to try and stop it.
She tried everything she could to relax and settle her mind but almost nothing worked. Caroline was able to take her mind off of things here and there but nothing lasted.
"Hey" Caroline muttered softly after waking Claire up from yet another nightmare. Claire gave her an exhausted smile as Caroline rubbed her leg comfortingly. "I brought back candy, as promised" She said instantly bringing a smile on Claire's face.
"How was the party?" Claire asked before clearing her throat.
"Not as fun as last year" Caroline shrugged slouching on the couch. "Bonnie left early, I couldn't find Elena. So I figured I'd grab some candy and hang out with my favorite sister."
"I'm your only sister"Claire pointed out. Caroline smirked.
"Which automatically makes you my favorite" She said before popping a piece of candy in her mouth.
"Mom tried to talk to me" Claire muttered. Caroline raised an eyebrow at her. "Basically told her to fuck off."
"And she probably did, didn't she?" Caroline predicted. Claire nodded. Caroline rolled her eyes. "Would it kill her to be a little more persistent?"Caroline grumbled. Claire shrugged.
The next day, Claire got some more than interesting news. Vicki Donovan went missing. Claire wouldn't admit it, but she was a little more than pleased. Though, she did feel bad for Matt but that was about it. Oh, and Jeremy. Claire didn't fail to notice Jeremy getting close to the annoying bitch. Even if she didn't agree with their 'relationship' she still felt bad for the younger Gilbert.
However, what Claire didn't like is the fact that her mother had to question her about Vicki's disappearance. You could cut the tension between the two with a knife. The resting glare on Claire's face made it clear that she didn't like her mother.
"How could I have any information on Vicki? I've been home for a long time, sick if you haven't noticed." Claire snips before sniffling.
"I have to ask" Liz reminded her. Claire rolled her eyes. "Did she say anything to you?"
"Oh yeah, cause Vicki Donovan and I were just the best of friends" Claire snips with sarcasm dripping off her voice.
"Answer the question, Claire" Liz snipped. Claire rolls her eyes crossing her arms, resting them on her stomach.
"No, mother, she didn't tell me anything. I've never had a conversation with Vicki in my life. I don't care about her, I don't know anything about her... Can I leave now?" Claire asked grumpily.
"Yeah, you can go" Liz said. Claire grabs the arms of the chairs and thrusts her hips up, slightly struggling to get out of the chair.
"No, no, I got it" Claire grumbled as her mother just watched her struggle. By the time her sister leaves her mothers office Caroline is nowhere to be seen. Claire huffs in annoyance.
"Need a lift?" Claire turns her head and smiles at Matt.
"I won't reject" Claire told him. He smiled at her, nodding for her to follow him. She waddles towards him slightly, trying her best to walk normally. "Have you seen Caroline?"
"She left a little earlier" Matt told her. "Asked me to get you home."
"Oh, so you're not offering me a ride out of the kindness in your heart." Claire muttered sarcastically. He laughs quietly.
"Oh please, you know you're my favorite Forbes sister" Matt said wrapping his arm around her neck. Claire smiled laying her head on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry about your sister, Matty" Claire mutters. Matt sighs and gives her a friendly kiss on the top of her head.
"Thanks, Baby Face" Matt mutters. Claire smiles a little wider as they make it to his truck. He opens the door for her and helps her climb in. "Are you going to Caroline's party?"
"She's banned me" Claire said as he started up the truck.
"What?" Matt asked laughing a bit. Claire nodded.
"She's turned into a mother hen ever since I got this cold." Claire said.
"She's just looking out for you, doesn't want you to over do it" Matt figured. Claire nodded in agreement.
"Still... I don't like missing out" Claire mumbled fiddling with her fingers. "I missed the Halloween party, Caroline's party. Soon I'm going to have these kids and I won't ever have time for myself. You all will probably forget all about me." She said looking out the window.
"Impossible" Matt said getting Claire to look at him. "We're not going to forget about you, Claire." Matt said grabbing her hand giving it a squeeze. "You're our friend, we'll make time for you. Next time we'll bring the party to you, how's that sound?"
"Nice" Claire muttered smiling at him. They let go of their hands. "Thanks for the ride home" Claire said and he nodded watching until she got into the house safely before driving off.

Dear Diary,
Today I got some... Interesting news. Vicki Donovan is missing. They don't know where she went but word on the street is that she just disappeared. I don't really care, one less person I don't like in Mystic Falls.
I do feel bad for Matt and Jeremy though. They both care about Vicki a lot but I can't find it in me to get too strung up over it. The bitch shouldn't have taken my boyfriend, shouldn't have taken the father to my children. She shouldn't have twisted his mind and make him hate me. I'm glad she's gone, hope she doesn't come back.
