Inescapable | Fourteen

The group of five ran out of the metal gates, quickly entering the waiting van outside. Inuoka grinned as Kozume slammed the door shut, and they hurriedly drove off.

"Aah... That was close!" Tendou exclaimed. Mai, who sat beside the driver's seat, rolled her eyes, buckling her seatbelt as she turned to the others behind her. The redhead sat at the far back, while Kozume, Yahaba, and Iwaizumi took their place in the second row.

"So, we made it." Iwaizumi let out a loud huff, "And that was all thanks to Lady Luck. You could have gotten us killed, Snow White-san."

"Nothing is perfect! Not even my plans! And we survived, right?" she snapped, glaring at the ravenette.

'I think I was the one who saved your ass back there,' Konoha's voice rang through the car's radio, 'And you're welcome. I'm on my way to the Guillotine, don't make me wait for long.'

"How safe are we, Trojan?"

'They had just started the chase, you should be fine for a while. I'll update you for more later." As soon as Konoha hung up, Mai turned to Kozume.

"Neko, I did a good job, didn't I?"

"It suffices, to say at least," Kozume curtly replied, "We're safe, but they would recognize who you are, right?"

"I'm fine with that."

"Where did you get the badge?" Iwaizumi asked, "I thought you were supposed to return it when you leave the job."

"It wasn't intentional," Mai replied calmly, "A few months after I started working, I met someone really annoying there. He stole my badge, and I had to ask for a new one, but later I found it hidden in his locker. So I had one extra."

"What a coincidence."

"Believe it or not, he also quit the department not long before I did." Mai turned to the assassin, "I can't use it anymore, now they know I'm a criminal. But we can always sell it on the black market. What do you think? I'm sure you have enough connections to do so," she said, offering the badge.

Iwaizumi narrowed his eyes in suspicion, "The risk is very high."

"And so is the price," Mai grinned, "Think about it, Kishi-san. A real, valid police badge. It's almost impossible to find; surely we can set the price as high as we want. Even an auction!"

"... If we get caught, it's all your fault."

"So, you're in? You can have 40% of the money."

Iwaizumi sent her a glare. "Fifty-fifty. Delivered to your place in cold, hard cash."

"Deal."

"You can drop me off there," Iwaizumi stated, as a very familiar bar came into sight. "In front of that bar."

Kozume sent him a questioning look, which he replied with a shrug. "I've done my part of the deal, so it should be fine, right?"

"But we haven't done ours."

"And I expect you to contact me as soon as possible," Iwaizumi answered, "If you don't, I still have this," he pulled out the police badge Mai had previously handed him, "I mean, this worths a lot and you're trusting it on me."

"You're not as stupid as you look, after all."

"Don't test my patience, Snow White-san. So, won't you return my phone and my weapons?"

"They're inside the black bag on the backseat," Inuoka said, and Tendou passed the bag silently. The ravenette briefly checked the contents, letting out a relieved sigh as he found that his phone was already unlocked.

"It was nice working with you again, Hajime," Kozume said, receiving a firm nod from the assassin.

"It isn't over yet. Until we meet again, Kenma."

The car stopped, and Iwaizumi walked out of the vehicle, watching as it drove off once again. He silently entered the bar, heading right towards the counter, where he took his seat and placed his bag beside him.

"Issei, give me the usual."

Mattsun abruptly turned, and his eyes lit up in recognition. "Kishi! Where the hell have you been?! People were looking for you! I can't contact you at all! You disappeared for days-..."

"I met Neko."

"... Wait, what?"

"Neko. Leader of the Golden Cats." Iwaizumi paused, while Mattsun poured him his drink, "I had to retrieve someone for my latest job, but my target turned out to be Neko's assistant. His friend attacked me from behind, and Neko asked me to do him a favor."

"Sounds rough. And you did it?"

"I had to give him a reason not to kill me," Iwaizumi replied, before he pulled out a police badge and placed it on the counter, "And take this. You're still holding your usual auction, right?"

"Where did you get this..." Mattsun's words faded into silence as he realized what Iwaizumi was wearing. A police uniform. "I think I'd rather know nothing."

"Good choice." Iwaizumi finished his drink, "Would you mind bringing my motorbike here? I left it near Neko's house."

"Just give me the address," Mattsun said, handing him a pen and a piece of paper, "But how will you get to your apartment?"

"I'll ask Oikawa to pick me up. If I disappear any longer, he'll start a search party." Iwaizumi quickly scribbled down the address, handing Mattsun his keys, "I'll be back tomorrow to pick it up. Thanks a lot, Issei."

"No problem. Oh, is that him? That black car outside?"

"Yeah. I guess I'll take my leave now, Issei."

With that, Iwaizumi walked out of the bar.

"Alright, we're here," Inuoka stated, as he stopped in front of the Guillotine. Kozume walked out of the car, motioning Yahaba and Tendou to follow him. On the other hand, Mai hurriedly ran towards the house.

"I call dibs on the beers!" she shouted, as she slammed the door open. Tendou chuckled at the sight, moreover when another yell could be heard from inside.

"No way, woman! I arrived first!"

"You can't stop me, Konoha!"

"You'll get used to it," Kozume told the two newcomers, "I'll tell you everything you need to know, but that can wait. Inuoka will come here soon to take you around the base. If you need anything, just ask. I'll be in my office."

Yahaba frowned, but Tendou seemed not to care at all, only taking his seat on the couch. "Ah! What luxury! This is exactly what I need!"

"Who are you?"

"Hm?" Tendou grinned, "Satori Tendou, The Guess Monster! Who else?"

Yahaba gave him a flat look. "You sure you were supposed to be in prison? I think a mental hospital would suit you more."

"Rude!"

"Oi, catch!" a voice called all of a sudden. The two turned, to see Mai holding cans of beer in her arms. Yahaba swiftly caught the beer she threw, while Tendou got hit on the forehead by it.

"So, yeah. There's intro and blah blah blah, but I'm not going to say much." Mai, Inuoka and Konoha gave their brief introductions, before they asked the same from the ex-prisoners.

"I'm Satori Tendou! People know me as The Guess Monster, and trust me, I live up to that title!"

"I think you made a mistake, Nametsu," Konoha stated, glancing at Mai, "Freak isn't descriptive enough, and it sounds weak for a codename. We used use 'Monster', just like his title."

Tendou turned to Inuoka, "Is this the part where I should feel offended?"

Inuoka only shrugged in reply.

"Now, your turn, Creampuff!"

Yahaba scowled at the last word, "Yahaba Shigeru. I mostly work with explosives, and I would like to change the name you gave me."

"No way!" Konoha exclaimed, "It's perfect already! 'Creampuff' is so original!"

Yahaba stared at the blond in disbelief, "Are you insane? This is gang, it just won't do!"

"Well, how about we wait until your partner joins us, too? Mad Dog, right? We can ask for his opinion!" Inuoka suggested, ever so innocently.

And at this exact moment, Yahaba knew that he's so done for. Because Kyouken has always wanted to call him that, and now he will have a valid reason to do so.

"... Whatever."

Iwaizumi let out a deep breath, sneaking a glance at Oikawa once again. He was quiet, abnormally quiet, and it's just... disturbing. And to his surprise, Oikawa drove all the way to the bar, not even bringing Hanamaki. Although, Oikawa insisted for Iwaizumi to be the one driving on their way home.

And Iwaizumi didn't mind. It's understandable.

"I thought you said you don't want to touch a steering wheel ever again," Iwaizumi tried to break the silence, "You know, since... that."

"It still haunts me, I hardly can focus. I can still feel everything."

"It wasn't your fault, Tooru." Iwaizumi sighed, "Your sister protected you, and I'm sure she never regretted that."

"She died in that car accident. I was the one driving, and she died for me. I can't simply just get over it." Oikawa huffed, "And I will never do that again, I don't want history to repeat itself. I only take the risk tonight because I was alone."

"Why don't you take Makki?"

"It's an emergency. I need to talk to you in private, as soon as possible," he paused, "And for precautions, I also gave him a week off."

Iwaizumi nodded." So? What is it?"

"I just got a call from Bokuto," the brunet's expression turned serious, "He asked me if I know where you are. We're lucky that he called my cell phone and not my business number. If Makki was the one who picked it up..."

"He already knew that I disappeared since two years ago, right?"

"That's exactly the problem. He asked me to help him to find you because you're the culprit in the shootings incident."

Iwaizumi's eyes widened, "How did he find out-..." Suddenly, realization hit him, and he growled in anger, "That fucker!"

"Do you, by any chance, knows how did he find out?"

"A Golden Cats member, number 2. One of the founders."

Oikawa frowned. "If Neko is dead, then... Akaashi Keiji? He was Bokuto's close friend, right?"

"And he's also an informant now. He was there that night, he's the one who turned off the lights. We haven't been in good terms even since before Neko died, and it got worse when Sugawara was gone, too."

"Well, it doesn't matter now. What are you going to do, Iwa-chan? They'll eventually find you."

White_Rabbit:
Things seem to get interesting, eh, Fukurō?

Black-Owl:
It has been a while, Usagi-san. What do you want?

White_Rabbit:
Oh, nothing much. It's just amusing how you can sell your friend out so easily. Kishi-san, I mean. He was a part of the Golden Cats, just like you, right?

Black-Owl:
It's none of your business, so please don't interfere.

White_Rabbit:
How rude of me! I should have told you sooner; I can help you.

Black-Owl:
I don't need anything from you.

White_Rabbit:
You sure? Kishi has disappeared for two years, just like you, and people haven't been able to find him. But I still have some unfinished business with him.

Black-Owl:
Your point?

White_Rabbit:
If he knows that you sold him out, he wouldn't accept any job as precautions, in case if it was a trap. But he's still obliged to finish his other deals.

White_Rabbit:
If you want to meet him, I can set the time and place.

I hate how rushed this was written. Well, whatever. It's better than nothing, right?
