108: Moment of Punishment
Miyamura Yuzuki had never had a better sleep than she was feeling as of now. The breeze was cool and soothing and the air smelt of sand and sea. There were birds and crickets chirping and there was the sound of waves against the seaside.
Her back was hurting, though. The surface she was sleeping on wasn't comfortable at all. But the pillow she was hugging made up for the discomfort so she didn't want to open her eyes. She hugged it tighter, smelling in the good scent of the pillow. It was familiar.
Like a...human...
Something nudged her shoulder and she groaned. 'Mom...wait...5...minutes.' She said groggily.
Suddenly she heard yells and shouts. It sounded distant but it disturbed her sleep. 'Mom, turn off the TV. I swear I'll wake up in 5...' she yawned and sniffed.
'Pride and glory, Rakuzan!' a loud voice yelled.
Then a choir of voices celebrated, 'Victory for Rakuzan!'
Yuzuki opened her eyes slowly. 'Rakuzan?'She wondered in her mind. Gasping, she immediately sat up, realizing what was happening and where she was.
'Mom—' she turned her head and screamed, stumbling and struggling to back away. A certain somebody was staring at her. He was lying down on his side, elbow propped up, supporting his head, watching her and smiling.
'You really do fancy me, don't you?' said Akashi. Yuzuki examined her surrounding and gaped. They were still at the spot where they watched the night sky last night.
'Why the hell were we sleeping here?' Yuzuki frowned. 'And the voices—what time is it? Why are we still here? Why didn't you wake me up?'
Akashi finally sat up, exhaling sharply. 'Relax; the others have long started their morning run together without us. I informed Reo that I'd be out for a while.' He explained.
Yuzuki breathed out a sigh of relief.
Akashi wanted to tell her that he didn't say anything on behalf of her but decided it would be nice to tease her a bit. They went to wash up and get ready.
-
'Miyamura,' Reo squinted his eyes, his hands on his hip. He was looking as fierce as a tiger. 'You are 2 hours and 17 minutes late! And you weren't in your tent when your friends went to find you! WHERE WERE YOU?!' he yelled.
Yuzuki was taken aback by his loud yell. She looked at Akashi who was standing behind Reo, staring back at her as if he did nothing wrong. 'That bitch didn't back me up.' She hissed under her breath.
'You are to receive punishments,' said Reo sternly. 'Alone.'
Yuzuki rolled her eyes. 'Well, of course, I wouldn't expect Mr. Redhead President to be punished as well.'
Reo glared at her.
'Okay, sorry.' She apologized.
'You will clean the infirmary and its toilets.' Reo folded his arms across his chest.
Yuzuki shrugged. 'Easy.'
The black-haired guy shook his head in disapproval. 'This girl has no regrets.' Reo had thought.
'Apparently it's not enough,' began Akashi all of a sudden. Reo and Yuzuki turned to look at him. 'When the camp is over, you are to come to the student council's room and I will decide what to do with you.'
'What kind of punishment is that?' Yuzuki retorted. 'And you're not in the position to punish me!'
'Why not?' Reo questioned.
'Because...!' Yuzuki gritted her teeth. She couldn't possibly say what exactly happened.
'If you have nothing to say, you're dismissed.' Akashi interjected before she could come up with any excuse. Yuzuki glared at him and walked away angrily.
Reo glanced at Akashi. 'Is there anything you're not telling me? Where were you this morning?' asked Reo.
'I told you I had I something to take care of.' The redhead said and left.
-
It was the last day of the camp so there weren't much to do anymore. They held a basketball match among themselves and Akashi's team won, as predicted. There was a cooking competition and Yuzuki was forced to be in the same group with a bunch of strangers and their team lost because a fire almost broke out and kill 5 people. Her teammates weren't injured but were brought to the infirmary nevertheless. Evening came and Akashi gave his closing speech before dismissal.
Everyone tidied up their tents and their base camp and left. Yuzuki's ride was Ikinoshita. He came in a black sedan car with 100% tinted windows. Yuzuki entered the car and sighed loudly.
'Tired?' he asked, chuckling.
'Hellish.' Yuzuki replied.
Ikinoshita didn't move the car and Yuzuki looked at him. She frowned. 'Don't tell me we're—'
'Waiting for Akashi-sama, yes.' Her driver smiled, knowing Yuzuki hated it the most.
'He has more than 5 drivers to pick him up!' Yuzuki wailed. 'Why must wepick him up!?'
'You know why,' Ikinoshita replied calmly. 'His father wouldn't trust anyone at the moment aside from us.'
'We're strangers!' Yuzuki protested.
'No, we are their servers.'
'He can—' Yuzuki was interrupted by the sound of a gunshot. She quickly turned to look. 'I think that's Akashi.' She said but Ikinoshita was already dashing out of the car towards the source of the noise.
Yuzuki sighed angrily, rolling her eyes. 'He said he can take care of himself but all he get is trouble. Stupid president.' She murmured to herself. She wanted to help but a voice inside her head advised her not to.
'It's not even your business, Yuzuki. Act like you know nothing.'She thought to herself.
Thus, she waited in the car patiently.
-
Yuzuki had fallen asleep when suddenly Ikinoshita opened the driver's door roughly, waking her up in surprise. She looked around and saw two men holding guns running towards them. Her eyes widened and she turned to the back seat to see if Akashi was already inside. The redhead was sitting by the window, gazing out calmly as if nothing happened, as if the two men with guns never existed.
'He's too calm...! Too calm that he's pissing me off!'
Ikinoshita pressed the pedal hard and the car sped off. Seven gunshots were released, barely hitting the car. Yuzuki was confused. 'The hell was that?' she questioned.
'Just a game of tag with the Yukimura.' Ikinoshita answered, now relaxed.
'With guns?' Yuzuki raised a brow. 'I'm living in an alternate universe. I'm sure of it. Who the hell carries around guns in Japan and shooting people out of nowhere? This is not Las Vegas.'
Ikinoshita merely chuckled in response. Yuzuki didn't like the situation she was in. Although she knew, she still felt that his father's job is too dangerous.
-
The school bell had long been damaged but since Akashi claimed the president title, most of the school's facilities were restored and maintained. Rakuzan was an intimidatingly prestigious school since years ago but during the previous reign of the lousy school president, almost nothing was accomplished.
Akashi Seijuurou was the perfect guy to replace him and he received high praise from the principal. He was a role model for the students of Rakuzan. Everyone knows him.
Yuzuki yawned.
'Miyamura-san, your book!'
She turned to look. It was the class rep. 'What book?' she asked.
He glanced at the teacher standing in front of the class, checking some papers. 'Mathematics. Remember the homework we were given that day?' he said.
Yuzuki hummed and shook her head. 'I don't remember, and I don't bring it.'
He sighed; everyone in the class was almost as nonchalant as Yuzuki. No one bothered to do what was asked. The class rep left her place and went to the teacher, handing two or three workbooks.
'Sorry, Sensei,' he said apologetically. 'Only this much.'
The teacher faked a smile and took the books from him then left the class without saying anything.
'Hey, guys,' the class rep spun, facing his classmates. His voice was quite loud, enough to get everyone's attention. 'Can we be a little more motivated with school works?'
'Huh??' a delinquent kid sitting at the back of the class growled. 'Who the hell are you, even?'
The class rep is a frail-looking guy with commonly cut black hair. He was pale and thin. 'I'm the class rep, Iride Mao.' He replied calmly, not flinching at the delinquent's wanna-fight-me tone.
'Listen here, class rep boy,' another delinquent, this time a girl, spoke up. She was sitting by the door at the back row. 'We're in the last class for a reason. We're either dumb, lazy or both. So if you feel like working hard, you're welcome to get out of here.'
Mao kept his poker face but his sharp gaze towards the girl made her frown.
'Trash.' He murmured under his breath.
Yuzuki turned to look at him as she heard it, just barely. Mao stomped out of the class.
'The hell is wrong with that guy, tch.' The delinquent girl clicked her tongue.
Yuzuki kept her things, brought her bag and trailed after Mao, feeling a little guilty. He was just outside, walking on the hallway ever so slowly, one hand on the wall as if supporting his weight.
'Iride.' She called out.
Mao spun to look and straightened himself when he saw her. 'Miyamura-san.' He said softly.
'Yuzuki is fine,' she said. 'I'm sorry about the book, I'll complete it tonight and give...'
Mao leaned against the wall. His face was as white as paper.
'Hey, are you alright—' Yuzuki couldn't finish her sentence when Mao's legs gave up and he collapsed. She quickly caught him in her arms.
-
Akashi knew she would forget about her second punishment. Or even if she remembered, she would have fled. His class was dismissed earlier than usual because the teacher had a meeting to attend so he stopped by the student council's room to fetch some papers and send them to the school's management. He still had some time to spend so he thought he should drag Yuzuki into another hell. Class E was just at the end of building. He strolled casually, taking his time as he gazed at the scenery outside, specifically the large fountain located in front of the building. He was only halfway towards the end when his personal fountain-gazing session was interrupted.
'President!' a very familiar voice yelled. He turned to look. It was obviously Yuzuki, and there was somebody else with her. 'Akashi! Oi! Come here!'
He neared her, not bothering to quicken his steps at all. Yuzuki was getting impatient. Akashi finally saw what was happening. He shook his head disapprovingly. 'Public display of affection is definitely forbidden in Rakuzan.' He said.
'WHAT?!'
'You don't need to show your intimacy to me, Yuzuki. Why are you hugging this man on the floor? Did you call me here so I could add another punishment?'
'I'm not hugging him!' she yelled frustratingly. 'You're so full of yourself why did I even—ah, anyway, help me bring him to the infirmary. He's small but still heavier than me.'
'Who is this?' Akashi asked as he pulled the guy's arm gently.
'My class rep,' Yuzuki placed his other arm around her neck and they began walking. His legs were being dragged on the floor like a corpse. 'He suddenly fainted out here.'
Akashi glanced behind at the class of E. 'You didn't ask your classmates for help?' he queried.
'They can't be bothered,' Yuzuki replied. 'And you were the closest.'
-
Yuzuki stretched her arms and groaned. 'That was a hellish journey.' She commented.
She was with Akashi inside the infirmary while the nurse in charge was treating the class rep. 'Thanks a lot for helping me, Akashi.' Yuzuki turned to the president who was sitting on the provided chair by the door.
'I have to fix your class.' Akashi dismissed her and changed the topic.
'Fix my class what? It's doing okay.' Yuzuki frowned.
'Your classmates' attitudes.'
'Ah, that,' Yuzuki chuckled. 'Don't bother. They're a bunch of annoying delinquents that don't listen.'
'My type of game.' Akashi tilted his head.
The nurse appeared behind Yuzuki silently and Akashi stood. They bowed their heads at her. 'He's okay now, I've given him vitamins.' The nurse informed and proceeded to her office.
Yuzuki and Akashi went into the room the class rep was held in.
'Iride!' Yuzuki yelled and the said guy turned his head to her.
'Yuzu—ah, the president is here?!' he began to panic and tried to get off the bed. Yuzuki held his shoulder.
'It's alright, he helped me carry you here,' she said and sat on the chair by the bed. 'Are you okay now?'
Iriya Mao looked at Akashi and they nodded at each other as a sign of acknowledgement. He focused on Yuzuki, then. 'Yes, I'm okay. I've always been anemic so it's nothing worrying. Thank you so much and I'm sorry for bothering you.' Mao said.
'Totally fine with me!' Yuzuki smiled then glanced at her wristwatch. 'If you're okay now, I shall go home.'
'Sure, sure, I'll have some more rest and head home too,' Mao nodded vigorously. 'Thank you again.'
Yuzuki winked at him and headed for the door but Akashi held her uniform collar from the back, choking her. Mao's eyes widened at the violent action.
'You're not going home anytime soon, Yuzuki.' Akashi spoke.
'Huh?' Yuzuki frowned and tried to get away from his grip. 'You have club activities after this? I'll wait in the car, don't worry, now please.'
Mao raised a brow. 'Wait in the car?'he thought.
'Didn't you remember what I told you last week during the camp?' Akashi pulled her collar along as he headed for the door. Yuzuki choked and coughed but followed him nevertheless, not wanting to die yet.
'You mean to see you in the student council's room? That wasn't a joke?!' Yuzuki began yelling. 'You were the one who left me to stand for myself! Why am I the only one being punished?!'
'So? You want me to be punished along with you?' Akashi smirked. They exited the room. 'I'm the president, Yuzuki.'
'So what if you're the president?! You lied about having...' her voice became distant as the door was closed; leaving Mao wide-eyed at the conversation he was listening to.
'Whatever is happening between them????'

A/N: Iride Mao is based on Iride Akatsuki (from Naka no Hito Genome [Jikkyouchuu]), thus the similar surname. I imagined Mao's physical appearance to be like Iride Akatsuki, though the personality is totally different.
Sorry for the constant late updates :( and sorry for the OOC Akashi TvT he's in his 2nd year so I deem his "other self" gone for good.
