Ineffable | Twenty-Two

Kiyoko took a deep breath, as she walked towards her desk and took a few folders from it, before she walked back to the lounge and placed all the files on the coffee table.

"So, some of us already knew each other, and I don't mind if you're having private talks. But before that, White Crows, as Neko's assistant, I want to tell you this," Kiyoko looked up, staring right at her used to be enemies, "The Golden Cats doesn't want to fight you. We want peace, we want to call truce."

"How can we trust your words?" Kageyama, as how Kiyoko already memorized the names, demanded.

"Well, we got no weapons here, right?"

The man pointed at Kei, who shrugged and threw away the gun he was holding.

"There. It's plastic," Kei stated, "I just feel less nervous if I have a weapon with me. But Kenma-san told me not to, so I have to stick with this."

"Tsukki..."

"Please, no comment, Yamaguchi," he muttered, "Kiyoko, anything else?"

"Right. We'll tell you everything, as long as you respected us. That's all, so I'll be leaving for a while, I need to check on something."

Kiyoko without any other word. She walked past the leaders' room, and stopped for a few seconds.

Kenma was trembling, while Kuroo seemed hesitant to comfort him.

The woman let out another sigh, before she turned away and quickened her pace.

"Uh... E-Excuse me..."

She turned, and her gaze softened. It was Hitoka Yachi, the only woman from the Crows.

"Yes?" Kiyoko asked back, "How can I help you?"

"I don't feel okay staying there as the only girl..."

"Among 16 men? Yeah, I can imagine that," Kiyoko chuckled, "Would you mind to accompany me?"

Yachi smiled, and began to follow Kiyoko upstairs, "You don't seem like a bad person, Shimizu-san."

"I don't think I am one." Kiyoko fixed her glasses and entered a room. It was filled with a few desks, all with computers and laptops on it. There's also papers and folders scattered around, on the chairs and on the floor. "Sorry, it was a mess. Those boys tend to throw away everything they don't need, literally."

Yachi snickered. It was indeed a mess, but it seemed like it was a nice place.

"Our gang never intended to do bad things," Kiyoko said, as she turned off one of the computer, "We were just a group of teens who wanted to have fun together, to try our best to enjoy our lives."

"Teens?"

"Kenma-san was 15 when he created the Golden Cats. I joined when I was 17."

"Who is this Kenma-san?" Yachi asked, as she imitated Kiyoko's actions, picking up the papers on the floor. She found that some of them were sketches, others were words in messy handwritings, and a few were just a bunch of numbers.

"Neko. That's his real name." Kiyoko stacked the folders and placed it on one of the desks, "Anyways. We did our best to survive together. Not just money, but also to entertain ourselves after our stressful days at home, and also to protect ourselves, away from dangers."

"But what about those murders?"

Kiyoko bit her lip, as she closed the room and locked the door. She turned to look at Yachi, and decided to give an answer.

"It started a few years ago, after two of our members left. Maybe you've heard of them, the Iron Eagles."

"I think I have..."

"Well, Kenma-san made a deal with them. They will protect The Golden Cats, but Kenma-san had to help them in achieving their own goals. It's a secret, actually, but he told me because I had to arrange their constant meetings."

"... I never think of that before..."

Kiyoko smiled, "I know, and it's fine," she replied, as they reached the lounge, "Look, we're back here already."

"Ah, right." Yachi wrapped her fingers around the doorknob, and pushed it open. Unfortunately, the sight in front of them wasn't what she expected.

Yaku was standing in front of the Cats' number 6, holding his gun, his fingers ready to pull the trigger.

Kenma sat back on his seat with a heavy sigh, wiping away the remaining tears.

"Sorry I stained your shirt... And thank you..."

Kuroo chuckled, "Still the same, old, Kenma. Don't worry about it. So, what now?"

"I want to make a deal with you."

Kuroo raised an eyebrow, and Kenma continued, "I want you to arrest me, and only me."

"Ken, I don't want to-..."

"But you have to, right?" he asked, "There must be someone to blame for everything that happened. That's the way it works."

"I know..."

"Listen. All those crimes was my idea. It was my doings. They only helped me a little bit, preparing my equipments and all. It was technically my fault."

"But they don't know that, right? I kmow that's not your real reason."

"... I don't want to ruin their lives," Kemma admitted, "Unlike them, I have nothing to lose, even if I was arrested or even executed."

"You can't say that, I-..." Kuroo froze when he saw the look in Kenma's eyes.

"Please, I beg you, Kuro. I don't want to involve them any further."

"Kitten..."

"This is the only thing I will ever ask from you, Tetsurou."

At the sound of his given name, Kuroo froze. It was somehow nice hearing that from Kenma. And because of it, before he realize it, he had given his reply.

"Fine. We have a deal."

Kenma smiled, but then he turned his gaze back to the lounge, and clicked his tongue.

"What's wrong, Ken-... Oh, no. That doesn't look good. What's going on?" Kuroo muttered, making his way towards the door.

"No, don't, Kuro. If we go there now, it will only worsen the tension. We should just listen from here."

"... How?"

Kenma went to the laptop on the table at the corner, and typed a few things, before the voices rang out from the speakers on the side.

'That doesn't mean anything! It only makes me hate you even more!'

"Yaku... What the hell are you doing..." Kuroo muttered, while Kenma stood in front of the large window, watching silently.

'As I've said before, Yaku-san, we only did what we think was right. You may call us criminals, and we're fine with that, but please keep in mind that we did that without any bad intentions.'  Koushi. He was standing in front of the window, facing Yaku, just a few meters from Kenma's position.

Yaku raised his gun, 'Well, then that leader of yours is up to no good!'

The next seconds, everything happened in a blur. The gun was shot, aimed at Kenma, but before the bullet hit him, Koushi had ran in front of his leader.

And then his body fell.

Almost instantly, Kenma rushed out of the room, followed by Kuroo. He crouched in front of Koushi's body, and took his hand, holding two fingers in front of his wrist.

No pulse.

Kenma let out a deep breath, and turned to look at his other members. "He's gone."

He wanted to scream, but before he could, he already felt the gun shoved onto his neck.

"You should just die, Neko."

BANG!!

This time, it was Kei. And the bullet hit Yaku on the head, killing him instantly. But for that, immediately, all the Crows had their guns pointed at Kenma.

The Neko let out a growl, and stood up. He turned to look at Kuroo, and chuckled bitterly. "I fucking trusted you, Kuro." He didn't falter even with the gun Kuroo was holding, and instead he only glared harder. "I guess you're right, it won't ever be the same anymore."

"Kenma-san?"

Kenma let out a huff. "You know what to do already."

BOOM!!
