Ineffable | Twenty-Four

When Lev heard the gunshots from the speakers, he instantly knew what happened. Eight gunshots, quick intervals. Meaning that number 8 is dead, cause unknown.

Nishinoya Yuu. Most probably because of the smokes, Lev knew he had some kind of respiratory sickness. Or maybe he encountered one of the Crows, and got hurt instead of fighting back.

Well, Yuu may be their shortest member, but he was chosen as their guardian deity, thanks to his good instincts and quick reflexes. He had the skills, he had the will, and it was just like him to decided to protect everyone around him, not to rely on anyone else.

Lev was saddened, really. Yuu was one of his closest friend aside from Shouyou... and Kenma-san. But even with that, he knew better than to mourn over his fallen friend.

So many people died in front of him, he's getting used to it.

Lev tiptoed downstairs, his silent steps were calm and steady. He had learned about all of these since he was young. His parents, his sister, then Kenma. It all felt natural to him now, he didn't even panic.

The half-Russian entered one of the room, and closed the door behind him, flicking the lights on. The armoury, where the organization kept all their weapons. The Bungalow wasn't their official hideout, but most of the dirty jobs were done in that same building.

Suddenly, his phone vibrated. Lev only had the gang's contacts, so it must be urgent. With that thought in mind, he quickly pulled out the device and read the text. It was, surprisingly, from his leader.

'1-61-71-01-1. Treats for the felines. Catnip keeper: Terushima Yuuji.'

Lev narrowed his eyes. What does that mean? A code? And why him? Why not Keiji-san or Hajime-san or Kiyoko-san?

Maybe... Just maybe, Kenma-san trusted him the most?

The thought was enough to give him new motivation, and Lev quickly went back to work. He rummaged through the room, going from one rack to another to find the weapon he needed at the moment.

It's his specialty, actually. Any kind of tools they used were his to take care of, even weapons. Well, in defense, he indeed work together with Yuu...

Right. He couldn't let Yuu die in vain. He needs to make sure that there's no more of his friends that would die tonight.

Lev smiled as he picked up a large riffle and placed his handgun in its holster, before he silently walked out of the room and began to make his way down the hall. He could hear the footsteps not far from him, and soon enough, he reached the basement, already filled with thin smokes.

He crouched, lifting up his rifle, and positioned the scope in front of his green sharp eyes. He never likes violence,or guns, or bloodshed, all of those had ruined his family.

But this time, just for this time, he had to. For the sake of his friends.

Lev's fingers reached out for the trigger, and paused for a moment. The riffle was aimed at one of the Crows, who was holding the gun up towards Ryunosuke, who didn't even realize the danger. Ennoshita, Lev recalled, was the officer's name. Ryu once told him how the guy was a very devoted one, he's well aware of his priorities and always did what was the best for the majorities.

Most probably, that's why he was able to point his gun at his used-to-be ally.

Lev took a deep breath. Maybe, just like all the previous Haiba, he really had to stain his hands with blood. Well... at least, he did that to protect someone...

... Right?

His fingers pulled the trigger.

Kuroo stayed frozen on his spot, his gaze still locked on the smaller blonde. Kenma's face gave off no clue of his emotion, and that calmness alone was quite terrifying.

Even when his tone was mocking, Kenma seemed so neutral.

"Answer me."

Kuroo narrowed his eyes, "Predictions? Though I hate to admit it, knowing you, it must be one of my men."

A small cunning smile, and a low chuckle. Neko made his way back to the table, where a laptop sat silently waiting for its user.

"Ah, look. Maybe you jinxed it, Tetsu-chan."

Kuroo cringed. Not only did the nickname returned, but it brought bad news, too.

The screen showed a view a security camera, where Kuroo could see how one of his underling was shot from the side and fell onto the ground.

Kuroo didn't react, keeping his composure in front of his nemesis. Kenma only scratched another name on the wall, almost ignoring Kuroo's presence.

"Who did that?" Kuroo finally asked, trying to break the silence. Neko hummed in reply, turning his attention back to the taller man and gave him a meaningful smile.

"Our second newest member. Haiba Lev, the tall one," he answered, "Never thought he would be able to do that, but I'm glad he did."

"How heartless, Ken."

"We don't kill for fun, Kuro," Kenma replied, "And this won't be over peacefully."

"... You said you would give yourself up willingly."

"Only if the rest of The Golden Cats were safe and sound." Kenma shook his head, "Too late now. And I'm not satisfied yet. I'll erase every one of you, and finish you all."

"You wouldn't..."

"Oh, try me," Neko replied, smirking, as he reached the door and opened it.

"Just wait and see. One of us will die tonight, mark my words."
