Paeris is a common elf, and he's practically your best friend, but you are the youngest in the line of royal elves so you're not supposed to be friends with him.
Paeris does a lot of traveling and you meet in the forest after each trip he takes. You don't know much about outside the castle walls and don't have a lot of training in any weapons or anything, but you'd been planning to leave with him on his next trip to get away from the castle, but one of your siblings caught you and your parents locked you in your room.
It's the day you were supposed to meet up with Paeris, but you can't get out of your room, so he shows up at your window.
