The Tiger Selkie
Note: I got a bit into selkie/shape-shifting types in general so this is the first of a few coming very soon!
I do have to set warning that there may be nudity happening quite a lot for this page. The character is usually in her animal form, and when she's out, she would be in a nude human form. Please don't be too weird about it, I won't put up with too many perverted comments and such. It's not the main point of the character so don't try to make it that way, that's all!
Consent is everything!
Name: Nish
Age: 20 years old
Gender: Female, she/her
Appearance: For their animal form they seem just like any other tiger, and their human form just as a human- no animal skin to be found.
Personality: Nish is a little shy. It may take time for her to open up and be talkative, but when she's comfortable, you can expect a very hyper woman. She loves physically demanding work and play, so you can always trust that she's willing to do hard work. She's focused, but sometimes too curious and reckless. She'll approach situations head on, but will also scramble away at the first sign of trouble if she can, so maybe a little bit too cautious and a scaredy-cat.
Backstory:
Nish is and always has been a bit of a free spirit. It's in a selkies nature to be so.
A selkie is a shapeshifter. Selkie-folk switch from their animal type to their human form with the help of a pelt or "coat", shedding this pelt reveals a typically beautiful human from what was once an animal. But there's a catch to this amazing ability. If a person were to steal and hold this pelt away from the creature while they were in their human form, they would be trapped in this form, unable to turn back into an animal and return to their outside nature.
Many steal these coats and trap the selkie in marriage, the selkie forced to obey their will as long as they have their coat. The moment they have their pelt back though.. the selkie will run. Leaving marriage, kids, family- anything behind, because their nature isn't to be tied down by such things, not in that form. They yearn for their nature.
Nish is young, but has lost a mother to these people who steal selkie pelts. She had already lost her father by a hunters arrow. Not wanting the same fate by anyone in the area, she left home, running far away. It's been many years since that night her mother was caught, and she lives in fear of the same thing happening to her some day.
For now, though, she's lived life peacefully.
Scene 1: (This may work best if your character is from an older-town situation, where people have to hunt for their food and work every day to survive in their community. Or maybe lives alone somewhere to be out and about. Whatever works best for you! Ill do my best to be vague for the set up, so its up to you!)
You are out on a hunt!
You might be equipped with a bow, a spear, or maybe even only a knife to search what traps you left the night before for any kills. Whatever it is, you at least feel protected with a weapon.
You've seen tiger tracks around lately. If you live with others nearby, there's been talks of a beast coming by and somehow breaking into their properties, slaughtering their livestock and somehow never damaging the locks or gates to do so.
And yours too, if you had any livestock to care for.
The beast has taken just a bit from everyone, enough so that people would be ready to kill it on sight.
It's a good time to be on the hunt for anything to eat, since the loss of food at home has been a little threatening on what you all have.
You checked some traps, and noticed immediately that its contents were littered all around the ground. The trap was destroyed, anything that had been caught inside long gone thanks to the beast.
Safe to say, you were frustrated now. It seemed this monster was insatiable, eating everything in sight.
You kept walking, hoping to track something else for a decent meal. When... you heard something, in a nearby body of water. You didn't think it would be the tiger, but when you had slowly made your way over with your weapon, hidden to the best of your ability, the beast was in the water.
A tiger, no doubt the one causing all of these problems, seemed to be drinking from the water it was standing in. A female, too. She doesn't notice you, right behind her.
You stay watching for a moment, considering your options. Do you attack it while it's in a relaxed state? If you have a bow, it could be over fast. Do you turn and hope it doesn't notice you, maybe return with some backup and track it down?
It's beginning to move, slowly, stepping away. It's time to make your choice.
You...
Scene 2:
(For this to work your character likely doesn't know what a selkie is. Unless they do. However you'd like it to go!)
You're a bit of an exploring type! Usually what you find is trash or pretty nature pieces.
But yersterday night, right as the sun was setting and you needed to be home, you found a gorgeous tiger pelt.
You couldn't wrap your head around why such a beautiful coat was out in the middle of nowhere. It had been shoved between a few rocks, masterfully placed about to keep it hidden, but you noticed one of the pelts legs hanging out.
It was about to rain, and you didn't want it to be ruined.. no one was around the area. Maybe you wanted it for yourself, maybe you had only planned to hold it until the rain stopped and set it back so it couldn't be ruined, or maybe you were going to ask around if it belonged to anyone.
By the next day, well into the afternoon, it was still raining. You had set the beautiful tiger coat in a trunk for now, to keep it out of harms way.
The storm was worsening outside. For a moment you worried about things outside of your home going flying with the wind.
You certainly didn't expect someone to be knocking on your door with that kind of weather outside. You rushed, confused, to open the door- to see a strange woman, completely nude, wet long black hair draped around her face.
You were still processing the baffling sight when she spoke, almost meekly, "You have something of mine."
You...
