NXT Takeover: Brooklyn – 2017
"The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the NXT Women's Championship! Introducing first, from Osaka, Japan: the NXT Women's Champion, Asuka!"
The champion made her way to the ring.
"Asuka won the title at NXT Takeover: Dallas, over a year ago," Tom Phillips said. "Since her debut at NXT Takeover: Respect, she has yet to lose a match."
"Earlier this year, at Takeover: San Antonio, she faced three different women in a fatal-4-way match, and still came out victorious," Corey Graves added. "She then faced Nikki Cross a few weeks after, and she faced Ember Moon at Takeover: Orlando. She is still undefeated."
"And her opponent, from Boston, Massachusetts: Jordan Lee!"
She had gotten new music earlier in the year, that CFO$ made specifically for her. As she walked out, the crowd cheered. After taking a deep breath, she smiled and made her way to the ring.
"Jordan made her official NXT Takeover debut last year, right here in Brooklyn," Corey said. "Tonight, she's looking to beat Asuka for the title and become the new face of the NXT women's division."
"She made her Takeover debut as the new manager for DIY," Tom explained. "And while they didn't win the titles that night, she watched as they did win them in Toronto in the match of the year, as voted by the NXT Universe."
"DIY lost their titles in San Antonio to the Authors of Pain, and after failing to capture them in a rematch in Orlando that included The Revival, they broke up."
"They didn't just 'break up', Corey," Tom corrected. "Tommaso Ciampa attacked Johnny Gargano after the match, turning on him, and Jordan refused to pick sides."
"Those are just details, Phillips."
Jordan hopped over the top rope, landing on her feet in the ring. She turned around to look at Asuka, who was staring at her. She handed the championship to the ref, never taking her eyes off Jordan.
The bell rang, and Jordan instantly ran forward and clotheslined Asuka. The champion was taken by surprise, and unable to counter, fell to the mat.
"Let's do this!" Jordan yelled, and the crowd cheered.
Asuka stood back up, and Jordan clotheslined her again. She didn't stay down for nearly as long this time, standing right back up. She got in Jordan's face, and the two glared at each other.
"After finding out that Jordan was the number one contender to her title, Asuka made some... interesting remarks," Corey explained.
"She basically said that if Jordan couldn't keep a tag team together, how would she be able to hold the title long enough for it to mean anything?" Tom elaborated.
"Jordan didn't take too kindly to that."
Asuka spun, and kicked Jordan, knocking her down. She went for the pin, but Jordan kicked out at one. She grabbed Jordan, attempting to lock in an armbar, but Jordan was able to get out of her grasp, and stood back up.
When Asuka stood back up, Jordan ran at her, shoving her into the corner. She began punching her, but after a few punches, Asuka was able to block one, and she hit her with a punch of her own. Jordan staggered back, but she ran toward her. Asuka moved out of the way, and Jordan stopped herself before she ran into the corner.
Asuka ran toward Jordan, but she jumped up and over Asuka, who was now in the corner, her back facing her opponent. Jordan wrapped her arms around Asuka's waist, and suplexed her. She went for the pin, but Asuka kicked out at one and a half.
Jordan stood back up, shoving her hair out of her face. She looked down at Asuka, who was slowly coming to. She went over to the corner, and climbed to the top rope.
"What is Jordan going for here?" Corey asked.
She stood on the top rope, looked down at Asuka, and jumped. Asuka just barely rolled out of the way, and Jordan crashed into the mat. Asuka used the ropes to pull herself up. Jordan was still down by the time she was standing, so she walked over, grabbed her leg, and put her in an ankle lock.
Jordan screamed, reaching for the ropes, though she wasn't close enough. She began crawling toward them, but Asuka pulled her back to the middle of the ring. Jordan put her hands on the mat, pushing herself up, and flipped herself over. Asuka hadn't let go of her, so she used her other foot to kick her away.
Asuka staggered back, and Jordan crawled toward the ropes, pulling herself up. Asuka ran toward her, but Jordan pulled down the top rope, and Asuka fell out of the ring.
Jordan hung on to the ropes, watching as Asuka used the apron to slowly pull herself up. Jordan finally stood up, and a few seconds later, Asuka slid into the ring.
She grabbed Asuka's hand as she struggled to stand up, and walked behind Asuka.
"Is Jordan doing what I think she's doing?" Corey asked.
"She is!" Tom exclaimed. "She's got Asuka is the Asuka Lock!"
"Is she going to make Asuka tap to her own submission?" Corey asked.
Asuka tried getting out of the submission, but Jordan refused to let go. After a few seconds, Asuka tapped out.
"She did it!" Corey exclaimed. "Jordan made Asuka tap!"
"Your winner, and new NXT Women's Champion: Jordan Lee!"
"She's ended Asuka's record-setting title reign, and her undefeated streak!" Tom pointed out.
Jordan let go of Asuka, and sat on her knees, catching her breath. The ref handed her the title, then went to check on Asuka.
Jordan clutched the title to her chest, then stood up. The ref walked over, and raised her hand in the air, and she raised the title in the air, too.
"We did it!" She yelled, and the crowd cheered. Her eyes were watering, but she blinked back the tears.
She looked down at Asuka, who was resting against the ropes and watching her. She walked over to her, and offered her a hand. She accepted it, and Jordan pulled her up, then into a hug. She knew that Asuka was moving to the main roster that Monday, the day after SummerSlam, and that this would be one of her final NXT matches.
Asuka rolled out of the ring, and began walking backstage. Jordan walked over to one of the corners, and climbed to the top rope. She held the title in the air, smiling.
She stayed in the ring for a few more minutes, before rolling out herself. She got backstage, where she was greeted with applause.
Adrienne was the first person she saw.
"You did it!" She exclaimed, hugging her.
A few more people congratulated her, including Asuka. She was then approached by Triple H, and they shook hands and took a photo together.
After talking a few minutes with him, she began walking away. Jordan turned the corner, but came to a stop when she saw him.
She hadn't seen him since the day she told him everything. She hadn't purposely been avoiding him; she was no longer his manager, and she had other things to worry about, none of which involved him. He was in his gear, as he had had a match earlier in the night against Tommaso.
When he realized she wasn't going to keep walking, he did, instead. He closed the space between them, and stopped in front of her.
He looked at the title that was now around her waist, then back up at her, and smiled.
"Congratulations, Jordan. You deserve it."
He walked away just as she said, "Thanks."
