PRESENT
NEVERLAND

INDIANA JONES WAS UNSURE of how long as had been in Neverland upon arrival. Her estimate was roughly a few hours, but if she had been there for such a long time, then why did the island feel so abandoned? Surely, one of the Lost Boys would have at least stumbled upon her, or she would at least hear the usual battle cries that came from them.

Wouldn't Peter Pan have appeared before her?

Though they had a rough departure, she was sure he still loved her. Did something happen during the time she was gone?

She wondered what was going on in Storybrooke. Now that Indiana was in Neverland with no possible way of communicating or returning home, the brunette was rather confused as to what she would do now. Was she supposed to go find Peter? The Lost Boys? Beg for his forgiveness? Beg for him to send her back?

No—she couldn't.

What a lot of people didn't know was that Indiana Jones was scared to see him again. Or maybe they did and she simply didn't notice. Either way, she was scared to see the love of her life again. For all she knew, he probably didn't want to see her either for whatever reason.

Something felt... unusual about Neverland. Indiana couldn't put her finger on it. It looked the same. It smelt the same. The rich soil felt the same. Even the taste of the salty air was the same.

So why did things feel so different?

It was almost like the magic was being sucked right out of the atmosphere.

For now, Indiana would simply have to come up with her own plan to return home. Perhaps her friends from Storybrooke would find her? Maybe Killian would?

That was unlikely.

PRESENT
THE JOLLY ROGER

Killian Jones furrowed his eyebrows together as he stood beside the wheel of his ship. It turned rapidly, indicating that the ship was moving at quick speeds to get to Neverland as soon as possible. Suddenly, he stuck his hook out, catching the wheel, stopping it.

"Why are you slowing down?" Regina instantaneously questioned. "In case you didn't know, my son's life is in danger."

"Oh, I know, my hotheaded Queen," Killian taunted. "My plan is to bring us to the far side of the island, link up with the widest part of the river, then we sail right through and take him by surprise." He paused and bitterly laughed. "The irony."

"What irony?" Regina wondered.

"Oh. I spent more time than I care to remember trying to leave this place to kill Rumplestiltskin... you know, after my sister left," Killian explained. "And here I am, sailing right back into its heart with him as my guest of honor. It's not quite the happy ending I was hoping for."

Regina was quiet. "Greg Mendell said something funny to me. He said I'm a villain, and that villains don't get happy endings," Regina recited. "You believe that?"

"I hope not," Killian answered, looking down at where his sister silently sat. She had hardly said two words the entire voyage. "Or we've wasted our lives."

Meanwhile, Emma Swan was getting yet another pep talk from her parents.

"We'll find Henry," David said, finishing the speech.

"No, you won't," Rumplestiltskin corrected, gaining everyone's attention. Looking over at him, he had worn a new outfit.

"Oh, that's a great use of our time," Killian sarcastically remarked. "A wardrobe change."

"I'm gonna get Henry," Rumplestiltskin declared.

"We agreed to do this together," Indiana pointed out.

"Actually, we made no such agreement," Rumplestiltskin corrected. "I want to succeed."

"What makes you think I'm gonna fail?" Emma Swan snapped.

"Well, how could you not? You don't believe in your parents or in magic or even yourself," Rumplestiltskin listed.

"I slayed a dragon," she reminded them. "I think I believe."

"Only what was shown to you," Rumplestiltskin corrected once again. "When have you ever taken a real leap of faith? You know, the kind where there's absolutely no proof? I've known you some time, Ms. Swan, and sadly, despite everything you've been through, you're still just that bail bondsperson, looking for evidence. Well, dearie, that's not gonna work in Neverland.

"I'll do whatever it takes," Emma vowed in determination.

"Well, you just need someone to tell you what that is," Rumplestiltskin replied. "Sorry, dearie. Our foe is too fearsome for handholding. Just ask Indiana. Neverland is a place where imagination runs wild, and sadly... yours doesn't."

He spun his cane faster and faster before it ultimately fell to the ground and disappeared, along with Rumplestiltskin.

PRESENT
NEVERLAND

"Hey!"

Indiana Jones was in the middle of mapping out her escape plan. Well, she was in the middle of trying to come up with a plan in the first place, but it was still a start. No matter how much she thought about it, there seemed to be no possible way to simply get off of Neverland. This had to be apart of Peter Pan's plan. Maybe he wanted to keep her on Neverland forever just like they originally planned...

"Psst!"

What seemed to be bothering Indiana the most was the fact that Peter Pan knew she was on the island. She knew he knew. She could just imagine the stupid smirk on his stupid face.

She didn't need anyone to inform her for her to know. She knew her boyfriend—or was it ex-boyfriend—was observing her. He was listening to her thoughts, even if she wasn't thinking of anything. She couldn't think of anything—that was the issue. Her mind was an unpainted canvas.

"Oi!"

"Oh, bloody hell, shut up!" Indiana shouted in frustration, snapping her head around. Almost instantaneously, she made eye contact with someone. A pair of eyes peered out at her, one being electric blue whereas the other was dirt brown. Indiana felt her eye twitch. "Oh, hell no."

Frankie crawled out from within a bush and sat beside her. "It's lovely to see you, too, Indie," Frankie greeted sarcastically.

"Shut the hell up," Indiana snarled. She pinched the bridge of her nose. "This is the third time, Shadow. You're really starting to milk this, you know."

"Whatever do you mean, dear, Indie?" Frankie wondered innocently. He batted his long eyelashes at the sleep-deprived brunette.

"If you don't run off some place else, I won't hesitate to cut you up into little pieces so that no one can ever put you back together again," Indiana threatened. "Screw off before I make you become Humpty Dumpty."

Frankie hummed and, in defeat, said, "Fine. Have it your way."

Just like that, the deceased Lost Boy stood up and strolled off.

Satisfied, Indiana Jones slumped back into her position as she leaned against a tree. The tree's bark was rather uncomfortable, but it was the best she could get as she attempted to think of any kind of escape plan. Suddenly, there was a rustling in the bushes.

"I told you to fuck off, Shadow!" Indiana yelled, not bothering to look over at the bushes. She looked over when she noticed someone emerged from the bushes. Expecting Frankie, Indiana opened her mouth to spit something out. However, nothing came out. A boy with dark brown hair and modern-looking clothes appeared.

In fact, he looked a lot like...

"Henry?"

PRESENT
THE JOLLY ROGER

All was going well when suddenly, something slammed into the side of the ship. "What was that!?" Regina shouted out to Prince Charming, who was attempting to keep the ship steady while Killian and Emma were speaking below the deck. "What the hell are you two doing!?"

"Trying to keep it steady!" Snow screamed back while David yelled, "Hold on!"

"Prepare for attack!" Killian yelled, rushing back to the wheel. "If you've got a weapon, then grab it!"

"What's out there? A shark!? A whale!?" Indiana exclaimed worriedly, looking over the sides of the vessel.

"A Kraken!?" David continued.

"Haven't I taught you better, baby sister?" Hook yelled. "It's far, far worse. Mermaids."

"Oh, heck no!" Indiana exclaimed.

"Heck? What the hell is a heck!?" Emma yelled at Indiana. "Never mind that. Mermaids?"

"Yes, and they're quite unpleasant," Killian replied. "I'll try and outrun them."

"I will not be capsized by a fish!" David snarled.

As everyone else prepared for battle, Indiana seemed to stay in her spot before jumping up, for they had brought one of them on the ship.

PRESENT
NEVERLAND

Indiana stared at the boy who was called Henry Mills with wide eyes. "I-I don't understand..." Indiana admitted, genuinely stumped. "What are you...? How are you...? Here? How are you here? What happened?"

"Greg and Tammy!" Henry exclaimed. "They kidnapped me and brought me here." Indiana nodded before suddenly realizing something. She narrowed her eyes at the 12-year-old boy.

"Tammy?" Indiana repeated in disbelief. "Really? You're going to have to try a lot harder than that, Shadow Man."

'Henry' smirked.

"I can do this all day," the Shadow said. Its voice came from Henry's body, making Indiana somewhat uncomfortable. "You thought you were going mad on the mainland? Well, now, you have nowhere to go and nowhere to run to. Pan doesn't need distractions like stupid girls. Peter Pan will succeed and become powerful. He will have the Heart of the Truest Believer. You will want to leave this island. Most importantly, I will destroy you, Indiana Jones."

Silent, Indiana took a moment to absorb its words. Then, she smirked. "I'd like to see you try," Indiana confidently snapped.

"I know you haven't been getting sleep--not since you first saw me on the mainland," the Shadow replied. "You can't play games with me, girl. I know all of your weaknesses. You'll be lucky if you get out of this alive."

PRESENT
THE JOLLY ROGER

"Get that thing off my ship!" Killian Jones roared.

"No," Regina said simply. "Now, we have a hostage. Those things just tried to kill us. Perhaps we should find out why."

"How? By torturing her?" Indiana questioned.

"Well, if need be," Regina casually answered, "Sure."

The mermaid suddenly lunged for her seashell and blew into it, producing a loud, irritating noise.

"What the hell is that?" Emma demanded.

"A warning," the Mermaid said deviously. "Let me go... or die."

"What is this? What did you do!?" David screamed as the hostage mermaid, referring to the storm that was brought upon them once she blew into her seashell.

"Let me go," the Mermaid seductively told him.

"Not until you tell us," Regina challenged. "Or we'll make you tell us."

"Threatening her isn't the way to motivate her," Snow scolded.

"Well, I'm all out of fish food," Regina sneered.

"It doesn't matter if you get her to talk," Indiana said. "You can't trust her. Mermaids are liars."

"Yeah? Well my sister wasn't lying that day all those years ago," the Mermaid snapped. All eyes fell on Indiana, who furrowed her eyebrows together in confusion. "That's right. I still remember you, Princess of Neverland."

"Uh, there are no Princesses in Neverland. Kings, maybe, but no Princesses," Indiana pointed out. She paused, her eyes widening. "Oh...! Oh! I killed your sister, Nemo, didn't I? And you... your name is Dory, isn't it?"

"Of course it is," Emma muttered.

"Look, maybe the Mermaids are just scared of Pan," Snow offered. "If we let her go, maybe they'll be on our side."

"Or maybe she and her friends will come right back to kill us," Regina argued.

"Oh, I don't need my friends to kill you," Dory snarled. "You'll kill yourselves. Now, let me go."

Lightning struck, brightening up the entire sky. Thunder boomed from near by. "What the hell?" David yelled.

"It's a storm," Killian explained. "She called it. Don't let her go! She'll swim off and leave us all to die. At least with her, we've got leverage."

Charming withdrew his sword, holding it against the mermaid's pale throat. "Stop the storm. Then, we let you go," David threatened.

"That's more like it, Charming," Regina happily said. "Filet the bitch."

Dory whimpered, frozen. David glanced from the Mermaid to his wife, who stared at him in horror. Abruptly, David released the mermaid. "No," he declared. "We're not barbarians."

"What we're going to be is dead," Indiana snapped as the waves nearly tipped the ship.

"Hold on! I'm gonna turn her around!" Killian shouted. "I've outrun many a storm!"

"Make it stop or die!" Regina yelled at the Mermaid.

"We are not killers," Snow hissed.

"Yes, you are," Dory answered. "And you've brought this death upon yourselves. Consider this revenge for my sister."

"This is why we should free her!" Snow continued.

"That feel-good nonsense might play in the Enchanted Forest, but this is Neverland," Indiana snarled with a different voice. "This is my domain." When the ship made an awful creaking noise. "Keep your grip, pirate!"

"We're taking on water!" Killian called out.

"Now, may I resume killing her?" Indiana demanded, sounding almost like a demon. Whatever it was, that was not her usual voice.

"No!" Snow and Charming yelled in sync.

"You kill her, and her kind have a personal vendetta against us," Snow reminded her.

"Look, the Queen is right," Killian agreed. "They've already tried killing us."

"Stop! That's enough! We need to think this through!" Emma yelled, clinging to the ship as rain poured down on them.

"I already have," Indiana snarled.

Her figure suddenly began to change. It started with her typically ocean-colored eyes. They became a bright shade of yellow. The rest of her body quickly became the Shadow's. The Shadow turned and waved its hand, causing the Mermaid to become a block of wood.

"You idiots won't last a day in Neverland if you couldn't have realized that I'm not the real Indiana," the Shadow declared maliciously.

"The Shadow? I should've known Indiana Jones would never say heck!" Emma exclaimed in shock as the Shadow flew above them. "Wait--Where is she!?"

"She fell through the portal, of course," the Shadow hissed. "Did you really think what I told you could possibly happen?" It laughed. "The Queen is on Neverland. Pan told me to keep her distracted until his plans are confirmed. I'll enjoy making her go insane."

"No!" Killian shouted. "I won't let you get away with this!"

"But I already have," the Shadow replied deviously. Then, it flew away.

PRESENT
NEVERLAND

Once the Shadow had mysteriously disappeared after threatening the Princess of Neverland, Indiana Jones got to work on a plan once again. After it had threatened that it was revealing itself to her Storybrooke friends.

She continued to contemplate on whether or not she should just sleep until someone found her. She could hardly recall the last time she slept, which was just over 24 hours ago. Indiana hadn't been sleeping ever since the Shadow had begun to stalk her in Storybrooke, and she sure as hell wasn't going to sleep now that it had threatened her.

Perhaps that was why she was actually convinced that 14-year-old Baelfire was sitting before the physically 17-year-old brunette. She was unsure when he had walked over to her or how she didn't notice his presence immediately, but when she did, she was rather taken aback. For the first few minutes, Baelfire simply sat and stared at her before ultimately deciding to speak. And when he finally did, he didn't stop.

"Were you aware that I was in Neverland around the same time you were?" 'Baelfire' questioned. "How come you never came looking for me? Even when we were kids, you never searched for me."

"Maybe because I was 10!" Indiana snapped in annoyance. "Do you really expect a little kid to go running about through the realms with no clue of what she was actually doing?" She sighed. "Man, don't you ever shut up?"

"Is that really how you would speak to your aunt?" a new voice wondered. Indiana glanced back at her. The brunette's eyes nearly popped out of her head upon seeing her.

"Aunt Lucy."

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

hi let me explain

so basically, do we all remember in s3 when rumple went off to neverland on his own and the shadow portrayed belle? or when the shadow played as frankie in earlier chapters?

basically, our dearly beloved peter pan is busy with henry. remember, he's trying to get him to believe and ""save neverland"" - so when he realized indiana was in neverland, he needed a distraction. so he called his shadow.

now, the shadow wants peter to be all strong and powerful and ruthless (just like peter wants for himself), so he doesnt like it when he's distracted by things like girls aka indiana. therefore, he doesn't really like her. so, he's trying to basically ruin indiana so that she has a stronger desire to leave neverland.

and poor indiana, poor sleep deprived indiana, will most likely believe that the people the shadow is pretending to be are actually with her because well, she's tired as fuck, yeah?

i know i didn't explain any of this very well in this chapter, but let me know what you guys think about the whole idea <3
