INDIANA JONES
xxxiii. REMEMBERING THE FORGOTTEN
╚══════════════════╝
PAST
NEVERLAND
THINGS WERE GOING STRANGELY well in the peculiar, child-managed realm of Neverland. Though Indiana was unsure of how much time had past since her arrival, she knew that she was roughly around 100-years-old. Sure, she was old, but she wasn't as old as the one she called her love, Peter Pan.
It was strange how the two had fallen in love, considering Peter Pan wasn't the type to show his emotions. Yet there he was, sitting in his tent, laughing as he tickled Indiana Jones.
"Stop it! Stop it!" Indiana whined through hysteric giggles. She squirmed under his touch, unable to control herself.
"That's what you get for telling me you're ticklish," Peter stated, genuinely entertained. He eventually pulled away his hands, allowing Indiana to catch her breath. "You know, it's not very wise to be a bandit if you're this ticklish."
"Where's the fun in that?" Indiana wondered with a goofy grin on her face, sitting up on the bed. She was still catching her breath. "You know I hate you, right?"
"I love you, too," Peter mused, causing Indiana to roll her eyes. Just as he said that, someone entering the tent and clearing their throat grabbed their attention. Indiana and Peter looked over to see Felix. Immediately, Indiana noticed how Peter's mood changed. "Are they here?"
Felix nodded. "They're early."
"But I was so sure they wouldn't be here until much later," Peter muttered.
"Who's here?" Indiana wondered. Peter looked back at her. He glanced at Felix, who shook his head.
The boy placed his palm against her cheek. "Promise me you'll wait here for me?" he requested. Indiana furrowed her eyebrows. "There's business I have to tend to. Just please stay here, alright?"
"But—" Indiana started. She stopped when Peter raised an eyebrow. She sighed. "Fine."
With that, Peter Pan quickly kissed her temple and exited the tent. After Indiana sat there for a few moments, she got up and started to walk out of the tent with intentions to go after her mysterious boyfriend.

PRESENT
THE ENCHANTED FOREST
Rolling her eyes for what felt like the millionth time, Indiana Jones marched throughout the forest while listening to Sleeping Beauty babble on and on and on. If it was possible, this Princess was far more annoying than Prince Charming. Indiana couldn't help but feel the strange urge to turn to Mulan and beg her to rip her ears straight off of her head. Too bad Indiana didn't.
"I don't know if I can do this," Aurora admitted once again while stepping over small rocks and twigs. "I'm not a very good liar."
"Oh, it's not really a lie, Aurora," Snow told her. She always had a better patience than anyone Indiana had ever known. "Lancelot did die an honorable death and Cora did escape. All true. Just leave the particulars to us. There's no reason to cause unnecessary panic amongst your people."
"I'm not so sure it's unnecessary—"
Aurora was interrupted in the middle of her sentence when Mulan held her hand out and ordered, "Wait." They were standing in the shrubbery just in front of what looked like some kind of Tower. Mulan reached over and grabbed her sword. "The Tower. We always have sentries guarding the entrance."
"You sure they're not just taking a nap?" Indiana wondered as Mulan pulled out her sword. "Maybe going for their lunch break?" Snow, who had the smallest smile on her face, nudged Indiana and motioned for her to follow Mulan and Aurora toward the tower.
As they made their way over to the main ground of the scene, they immediately noticed smoke coming from various areas. "Well, damn," Indiana breathed as she observed the area.
There were bodies scattered all over the place, most likely dead or even unconscious. Indiana came up with an unvoiced theory that they were murdered, perhaps by an Ogre or two. "This can't be," Mulan opinionated as everyone took a look around. "Our land, we were protected here—hidden. How did the Ogres find us?"
Snow, who was glancing at the patches of blood on each individual, gasped quietly and whispered, "Ogres didn't do this." Everyone glanced over at the bandit. "Cora did. Their hearts—they were ripped out. This was her magic—twisted and evil."
"She sure does know how to make a dramatic exit," Indiana added. "We have to stop her."
"Too late," Mulan revealed. "She killed them. She killed them all."
"No, we have to stop her before she hurts anyone else," Snow declared in agreement with Indiana.
"Hey... Hey! Look," Emma suddenly (and rather awkwardly) called out. She pointed at something on the ground. Following her finger with their eyes, Indiana noticed a hand waving around on the ground.
Aurora jumped up and ran over to it. "There's someone under there! He's alive."
A man's voice was heard. "Please..." he whimpered as everyone worked to get the bodies off of him. "Please help me."
"It's okay," Snow assured him as the others sat him up. "It's okay. You're safe now. We won't hurt you."
Indiana narrowed her eyes at him as he panted for air. "Thank you. Thank you," he breathlessly and gratefully said.
As Mulan, Aurora, Snow White, and Emma Swan worked together to get the man up and hydrated once again, Indiana couldn't help but simply stare at him, observe him. Something about this man was strangely familiar, but that made no sense to her because she had never seen him before in her entire 179 years of existence, right? Surely, he merely looked like someone she had seen before in the past.
There was no way Indiana Jones knew this man.
That's what she decided on, considering he didn't seem to recognize her. According to Mulan, he was a Blacksmith who joined the camp a few months earlier. He supposedly lost his hand in an Ogre attack.
Walking forward, Emma handed him a cup before Mulan proceeded to fill it up with clean water. "Thank you. I can't thank you enough for your kindness," the man said for the umpteenth time while Emma also handed Aurora a cup of water. "Fortune, it seems, has fit to show me favor."
He downed the cup of water instantly while Indiana made her way over toward them. She couldn't have befriended someone who spoke like that, right?
"A battlefield full of corpses, yet you're the only one to escape," Indiana suspiciously stated. "How exactly did that happen?"
The man sighed, looking around at each person and making eye contact. His gaze lingered on Indiana before continuing to answer. "She attacked at night. Slaughtered everyone in one full swoop," the man explained. "When she started ripping out people's hearts, I hid under the bodies of those who had already been killed—pretending to be dead myself. Mercifully, the ruse worked."
"So much for fortune favoring the brave," Emma commented. Indiana arched an eyebrow, slightly annoyed. For once, she could see things in his perspective. She would've done the same. If anything, it was smart.
"It was all I could do to survive," the man defended before Emma leaned forward.
"I'm gonna let you in on a little secret," Emma revealed. "I'm pretty good at knowing when someone is lying to me."
Looking into her eyes, the Blacksmith promised he was telling the truth. Mulan sighed. "We should leave here... in case Cora comes back," Mulan declared.
"We should start looking for a new portal to Storybrooke," Snow agreed. "I only got about 5 minutes with my husband, not to mention, my grandson."
The man snapped his head toward Snow. "You have a grandson?" he asked in surprise. Snow simply stated that it was a long story. "Well, I know this land well. I can guide you."
Just as he finished his sentence, Emma pulled his head back and withdrew her dagger. She placed it against his neck. "You're not gonna guide us anywhere until you tell us who you really are," Emma hissed.

PAST
NEVERLAND
"Well, well, well, if it isn't our good old friend, Captain Hook," Peter Pan greeted, leaning against a tree as several pirates pointed their swords at the boy who wouldn't grow up. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Cut the crap, Pan," the pirate hissed. "I know you're keeping her prisoner here. I know damn well she doesn't want to be here."
The brown-haired boy who refused to grow up clicked his tongue. "And what makes you think that?" he rhetorically wondered. "Last I checked, it's been roughly 50 years in your realm and a bit more than 100 here. If she wanted to leave, she could have ages ago."
The man with the hook for a hand narrowed his eyes at him. "There's something holding her back," Hook declared. "What is it? What have you threatened her with? Don't think I won't do what it takes to bring her back."
"Is that a threat?" Peter asked, rather amused. He walked toward the pirate. "Call it what you want, but the formal terminology is called Love."
Hook snorted. "Love? How could she ever love a demon like you?" he queried.
"Because demons don't judge," a new voice spoke out. Peter and Hook snapped their heads to the side, seeing Indiana Jones walk out from behind a tree. "I don't know what I just walked in on, but what I know for a fact is that I love Peter. Now, not that I'm not happy to see you, but what are you doing here, Cap?"
Peter sighed and looked back at Indiana. "Why didn't you stay like I asked you to, Indie?" he softly demanded.
Captain Hook scoffed. "You two even have pet-names for each other?" he demanded. "I think I'm going to be sick."
Indiana glanced between the two of them. "You know each other," Indiana realized. "How do you know each other?" When they remained quiet, Indiana continued. "I want answers. This can't all be by coincidence. I've been here too long to know that coincidences aren't common when it comes to you, Peter."
Hook let out a sigh. "I suppose I can't hide this from you anymore..." he trailed off. He looked down and then back up, making direct eye contact with Indiana. "You know me by my more colorful moniker, Captain Hook, but what you don't know is... my real name. My name is Killian Jones."

PRESENT
THE ENCHANTED FOREST
As the fearless warrior named Mulan tightly tied the ropes that held the so-called Blacksmith to a tree, the one-handed man cried out once again, "I already told you. I'm just a blacksmith."
"And I'm Santa Claus," Indiana sarcastically added, unimpressed.
She folded her arms over her chest and looked over at Emma, who stood beside her. The blonde nodded and stuck two fingers in her mouth, whistling loudly. A growling sound erupted in the distance.
"You don't want to talk to us? That's damn fine by me. I'm sure you'll enjoy talking to the ogres as they rip you limb from limb. Maybe if you're lucky, they'll start with your head," Indiana hissed.
Emma placed a hand on Indiana's shoulder. "Come on," she hesitantly said. She had a hard time that Anna James and Indiana Jones were the same person. Indiana nodded, beginning to walk with her group.
"Wh-What? You—You can't just leave me here like this!" the man hopelessly exclaimed.
"What if he's telling the truth?" Aurora wondered.
"He's not," Emma immediately responded.
There was silence that fell amongst them for a good few seconds until the so-called Blacksmith spoke out with a chuckle. "Good for you! You bested me," the man exclaimed. "I can count the amount of people who've done that on one hand."
As the group came back to him, Emma asked, "Is that supposed to be funny? Who are you?"
"Killian Jones," he declared, making Indiana's blood run cold for a reason she couldn't fathom. Emma and Snow's eyes snapped in Indiana's direction, but she remained emotionless on the outside. "But most people have taken to call me by my more colorful moniker – Hook."
Indiana arched an eyebrow. "Hook?" she repeated. "Is that supposed to impress me?"
"Check my satchel," he told her. Indiana furrowed her eyebrows, but nonetheless began to dig through the satchel she'd been holding onto.
While the others continued to converse with the man who called himself Killian Jones, Indiana found herself grabbing something cold. She pulled it out and held it in front of her face. She gasped as she stared a shiny, silver hook right in front of her face.
Just like that, everything came back. Only this time, everything did.

PAST
NEVERLAND
Indiana could feel her own blood run cold once he said those words. "What?" she demanded with gritted teeth. He opened his mouth to say it again, but she interrupted him. "All this time... you were right there. You knew how badly I wanted to find Killian Jones, and you didn't say a word."
"Indiana, I can—"
"—explain?" she interrupted again. "I'm sure you can, but that doesn't mean I'm not pissed."
"I wanted to tell you, but I'm your brother. I didn't know how else to tell you!" Killian exclaimed. Indiana froze with wide eyes.
"You..." She paused to turn around and groan angrily. "You knew! All this time, when I wondered about who I was and where I came from... you knew! Why didn't you tell me? First, you become a dirty pirate who ruined my life and then, you have the audacity to try to—what—befriend me? Do you have any idea what I've been through ever since the day my entire damn village turned on me?"
"Indiana, it's not entirely his fault..." Peter began to say. Indiana turned to him in shock.
"And now you're defending him?" Indiana demanded. "I thought you despised pirates!"
"That day..." he continued. "You said a Shadow killed someone, right?"
Just like that, it hit Indiana.
It was Peter Pan's Shadow that killed Lady Willow all those years ago. It was Peter and Hook's fault that everyone thought she was a demon. Together, the two framed Indiana. She didn't care if it was intentional or not. They were the sole reason that she had to go on the run for doing things she never did.
"Oh... Oh my god..." Indiana trailed off, taking a few steps back. "It was you..." She looked from Peter to Hook. "...and you... Both of you..." She shook her head. "All this time... I told you two everything... and neither of you said a word. You lied about not knowing a single thing. Why?"
"Indie..."
"Don't call me that," Indiana snapped. "I want answers. Starting from that day when my parents abandoned me. What the hell happened?"
Hook sighed and took a step forward, causing Indiana to take a step back. "It started when you were a year old," he began. "One day, I caught our father trying to sneak you off the ship we lived on. I inquired where he was going... I attempted to convince him to allow you to stay. But all he said was that it was too dangerous for a little girl to be living on the high seas. So he took you and left you with our Aunt Lucy. That same day, he abandoned our eldest brother, Liam and I... He sold us off and disappeared."
"So dear old dad separated us?" Indiana summarized, clenching her jaw. "And what happened to him? Where is he?" She clenched her hands into a fist.
"He's dead," Hook spat out, equally as angry. "As well as Liam, no thanks to loverboy here."
Indiana's head swung to the side to see Peter. "You killed my brother?" she demanded. She rubbed her temple with her hands. "God, this keeps getting worse. Why would you do something as horrible as this?"
"Dreamshade. I took them to the waterfall," Peter explained. Indiana nodded slowly.
"And you didn't tell them what would happen if they left Neverland?" Indiana questioned dryly. He shook his head. She sighed. "Okay. And why did you let your stupid Shadow kill my Aunt and Lady Willow?"
"You intrigued me," Peter began after a short moment of silence. "Ever since I met you that day when you were a child, I found you intriguing. You had darkness in your heart. I wanted to see what would happen if something triggered you to revert. But that's not all..." Peter paused. "I thought that true love could save magic on Neverland, but it still requires the Heart of the Truest Believer."
"So you killed them and framed me at the same time," Indiana said, pointing to Peter. She turned to point at Hook, "and you became a pirate, causing everyone in my village to lose trust in me, even though I was just a child."
"Indie..."
"And then you just waltzed into my life, thinking that we could become friends? Let me guess, you wanted to get to know me, despite knowing what you did to me. After everything you'd done to me, after everything I told you..." Indiana trailed off, feeling tears brim in her eyes as she stared at Hook. She looked back at Peter. "And you killed the most important person in my life because you thought I was the key to everything you needed..." She swallowed the knot in her throat. "You two... are sick."
It felt like the world was spinning around Indiana. Everything was moving so fast and for once, she felt like she couldn't keep up. Knowing that the two people who ruined her life were the ones that were closest to her, Indiana felt sick. She wanted to throw up. She wanted to rip their guts out. She wanted to cry. No—she wanted to go home.
She looked back up at Peter. "I want to go home."
"What?"
"Send me home," Indiana demanded. "With the box. Don't think I never forgot about my original mission. Let me go home. We can pretend this never happened... that we never happened."
"You want to leave?" Peter asked. Indiana could hear the heartbreak in his voice, but nonetheless, she nodded.
"Please, just do this for me," Indiana begged, her voice beginning to crack. "Let me go back, let me forget you and-and Hook and Neverland... Please, Peter."
"Forget?" Hook repeated. "Indiana, you don't know what you're saying. If you take some kind of forgetting potion, there's no telling what could happen to you. You'll... change."
"In the past, your opinion would've meant the world to me, Cap," Indiana hissed. "But now, I couldn't care less about what you think. Peter, please just do this for me."

PRESENT
THE ENCHANTED FOREST
Before Indiana had taken the forgetting potion, Peter had put a spell on her heart. Now that he would be unable to protect her and save the day, he made sure that no one but him could "steal her heart." As cheesy as it was, Indiana still couldn't find it in her to tell him that she loved him one last time.
Since then, Indiana had forgotten about Captain Hook and Peter Pan. Similar to how Snow White had taken a forgetting potion all those years ago because she wanted to forget Charming, Indiana had changed. Snow White had become the opposite of herself until she remembered Charming, whereas Indiana became a cold-blooded monster. She no longer was that childish girl who just wanted to find out who framed her. She was Indiana Jones – murderer and thief.
The sound of ogres growling in the distance pulled Indiana out of her thoughts. She stared at Killian Jones with a clenched jaw. "You're lucky I'm a little worried about the Ogres," Indiana snarled. "Otherwise, I would use your own hook to gouge your eyes out."
She noticed his gaze soften, but nonetheless, her composure didn't falter. "You better hurry up because they're getting closer. So unless you wanna be dinner, you better start talking," Emma quickly told the pirate, ignoring the brunette.
He let out a light chuckle. "Cora wanted me to gain your trust, so I could learn everything there is to know about your Storybrooke. She didn't want any surprises when she finally got over there," he easily answered. "Because we all despise surprises, isn't that right, Indiana?"
"Shut the hell up," Indiana snapped. "Besides, she can't get anywhere. Emma destroyed the damn wardrobe."
"Ah, but the enchantment remains," Hook revealed. "Cora gathered the ashes. She's gonna use them to open up a portal." The Ogres growling even louder was heard. "Now, if you'll kindly cut me loose."
"No," Mulan spoke out. "We should leave him here to die to pay for all the lives that he took."
Indiana felt her heart stop at the thought of Killian dying. "Wait, what?" Indiana asked. "No—that was Cora, not him."
"Why do you suddenly care about what happens to him?" Mulan demanded.
"Because..." she paused and glanced back at him. "No matter how much I loathe him and what he's done to me, he's still my brother." Mulan's eyes widened at the sound of that.
"Let's go," Snow whispered to the girl, guiding Indiana away. The others began to follow, but they were stopped yet again.
"Wait... What!" Hook shouted. "You need me alive... because we both want the same thing—to get back to your land."
Emma turned to look at him. "You would say anything to save yourself. Why should any of us believe you now?" Emma demanded.
"I arranged for transport with Cora, but seeing how resourceful you are... I'll offer you the same deal—I'll help you if you promise to take me along," Hook offered. Snow and Emma exchanged glances.
"How are you going to help us get home?" Snow questioned with an arrow nocked in her bow.
"The ashes will open up a portal, but to find your land, she needs more," Hook began to explain. "There's an Enchanted Compass. Cora seeks it. I'll help you obtain it before she does."
"So Cora won't make it to Storybrooke and we'll be one step closer to getting home," Emma realized. Snow shook her head.
"It's too good to be true," Snow stated.
The growling came closer and closer. "You promise me one thing, and whatever you say, I better believe it—why does Captain Hook want to go to Storybrooke?" Emma questioned.
"To exact revenge on the man who took my hand—Rumplestiltskin."
Listening to the growling and the sound of Hook's voice made Indiana's anger grow more and more. "I'll be right back," Indiana decided with a clenched jaw.
She turned around and walked away. When she returned, Captain Hook was untied from the tree and Indiana was found trying to get chunks of the Ogre's eye off of her dagger.
