Black chana masala

Everybody in my family loves this and it is very healthy as it is very rich in iron and proteins. I used to prepare this in vegetable oil but once I prepared it in mustard oil and it tasted much better...

Ingredients

Bengal gram (kale chane )-
2 cups soaked overnight,

Coriander powder 2 tbsp.

Cumin seeds ( jeera) 1 tsp

Red chilli powder 1 tsp.

Grated garlic. 1 tbsp

Green chillies slit. 2

Ginger julienned 1"

Mustard oil 3 tbsp

Onion chopped fine 2 medium

Coriander leaves 3 tbsp

Chana masala 2tbsp

Heeng 1/4 tsp

Amchoor 1/2 tsp

Method

🔸Cook chane for 5 -6 whistles in the cooker with enough water along with salt.

🔸Cook for another 15 minutes on reduced fire and remove. Set aside for the cooker to cool off.

🔸Heat oil. Add cumin seeds, when they crackle, add ginger, green chillies and grated garlic. Saute for 30 seconds.

🔸Add the chopped onions and fry till transparent.

🔸Add heeng chilli powder, salt, channa masala, a pinch of turmeric, amchoor and coriander powder Cook on slow flame for 10 seconds

🔸Add the boiled chana along with the liquid and cook till the liquid evaporates, mixing occasionally.

🔸Remove from fire. Garnish with onion, slit green chillies and coriander and serve hot with chapati, parantha or poori.

If you want to eat them with rice, don't evaporate the whole water.
