I

The cats of the moors mingled about in the clearing of their clan, the bramble surrounding the edges of the dipped in clearing, kits were making a ruckus as they tumbled around by the nursery. Suddenly a foul smell wafted through the entrance making some warriors stop and stare. The dawn patrol had returned, and with them they brought something unexpected. Wrenflight padded in, his lanky body padding towards the odd tree within the camp, under a smaller pale she cat sat with her tail curled around her.

The deputy growled as she shoved Scorchfang towards the Tall rock, her dark green eyes flashed with a dark look as she scoffed "filthy Shadowclan cats, daring to trespass on WindClan borders."

The pale she-cat looked up, a look of dark intrigue crossing across her gaze. She made sure not to let it linger, and stood, "Oh Rosedawn, don't treat the dear with such violence." She cooed, padding out towards the prisoner. She padded around him, her amber eyes calculating and observing, taking in every detail of the new cat in front of her, "He's got the build of a warrior, but the smell of a medicine cat." She lowered his head with her tail, the tip pulling at the top of his nose, "Why did you leave the soft confines of your peaceful nest?" She wondered callously, the prisoner obviously trying to repress trembles.

"Bug off Morningcreek!" Rosedawn snapped, her eyes narrowed, "You'll just get him to join your little posse, so bug off!"

Wrenflight stalked forward, his eyes seemingly bright as he gave a huge grin to Rosedawn "Oh but Rosedawn she just wanted to say hello~" he sang softly as he crept closer to the deputy, his grin stretching "It's not nice to yell at your fellow warriors." His voice dropped an octave as he sat there smiling.

Morningcreek's tail lifted from the prisoner's nose and she winked, "Wrenflight is right, I only wanted to greet our new friends." A purr emanated from her throat and the prisoner squirmed away a little.

"Morningcreek, let me speak." Dawnstar looked down from the Tallrock, and the lean she-cat backed up, dipping her head with an ominous look shining in her alluring amber eyes. The prisoner looked away as the leader continued. "As you all have seen, thanks to Rosedawn's commotion, that we have indeed captured a ShadowClan medicine cat. We will see what ShadowClan prepares to do, but for now, he will stay with us. We also have two warriors to name, Echopaw, Sedgepaw, step forward."

The prisoner glanced at the called apprentices, seeing one bouncing in excitement and one seeming withdrawn from the Clan.

"You two have worked hard to earn your warrior name and from this day forward, you two will now be known as Echosong and Sedgeskip." Dawnstar nodded her head.

The Clan cheered, but a reluctant glance at the two mysterious cats told the prisoner that they did not cheer, did not even move their heads to look at the new warriors. Their heads were dipped towards each other, speaking in hushed tones and elusive whispers.

"Meeting dismissed." Dawnstar announced before hopping down. She looked at the prisoner, before beckoning with a tilt of her head to follow her. The prisoner stood warily, feeling the claws from the gaze of the deputy. He padded after the leader, and gulped in nervousness as he saw where they were heading. "Morningcreek, Wrenflight," The leader made the two cats stop speaking, and they looked over. Instead on their faces were not smiles, but blank slates, and only their eyes held expression. Though the light within them did not make the prisoner feel any better.

"Yes Dawnstar?" Wrenflight asked, a smile stretching across his face.

"This is Scorchfang, the prisoner." Dawnstar nodded, "but you must already know that, so, since your little hangout spot here, under this tree, looks like its own little hollow, this is where Scorchfang will stay."

"Oh wonderful!" Morningcreek chirped, "We'll make him feel welcome."

"Good," Dawnstar nodded before padding off.

"Welcome to WindClan, Scorchfang." Morningcreek purred, before looking over and frowning, "Go away and play with your fellow kit friends, Sedgeskip."

The new warrior pouted, before raising her chin, "You can't tell me what to do now Morningcreek, I'm a warrior just like you!"

The white and cream she-cat narrowed her amber gaze, and Scorchfang crept to move to shield Sedgeskip if he had to. Morningcreek merely crept forward, her long tail snaking out from behind her and raising Sedgeskip's chin even more.

"Honey, if you ever talk to me like that again.." She purred quietly, "You'll never have a chance to see your first moon of warrior ship. Got it?"

Wrenflight's face was still smiling, and he stared at Sedgeskip. Scorchfang gulped and looked at the tiny warrior, who merely trembled a little.

"Y-yes Morningcreek." She stuttered, backing away her tail quivered.

Morningcreek winked, before turning, "I'm going to stretch my legs, care to join me Wren dear?"

The gray tom stood, chirping in agreement and joining Morningcreek's side, matching her stride with his own.

Sedgeskip glared after the two, her lip curling in fear and disgust as they left the camp. "Freaks." She muttered.

"Don't like them?"

"Not many cats do. They like each other, and that's good enough for the Clan." Sedgeskip looked back, shrugging in what looked like defeat, "That's the way it's been since I was a kit, when they first appeared. Like.. shadows in the night. They just glided in, as if they floated instead of walked. Each paw step was so precise, it was like they were walking among sleeping bodies." She shook her head, "At first, we all thought they were normal warriors who had joined with the intention of protecting our clan. But.. a few moons had past when they joined and nobody could ever catch their interest." Sedgeskip trailed off, her eyes dull before brightening again, "well...until today that is."

Scorchfang's golden gaze widened a little, and Sedgeskip easily saw the fear in it. He shot quick looks around the clearing, "Did Dawnstar ever do anything about them?"

"Except almost make Morningcreek her deputy? No, and she doesn't care what they do." Sedgeskip shrugged, "No one will step up to Morningcreek, and Wrenflight just has this.. Creepy energy around him. A lot of us apprentices were afraid of him, but we're more afraid of them together."

"Morningcreek sure has a lead on the pair..?" Scorchfang uneasily asked

"Oh, don't you start thinking that." Sedgeskip laughed, "While it may seem like that, Morningcreek is no leader. Neither of them are, but they play off each other in the most frightening ways. They just.. Know what each other is thinking, and they're able to speak to each other as if nothing.. No one is afraid of them. You can think Morningcreek is the brains, but Wrenflight has more to him that anyone can, or will ever, expect."

Scorchfang set his gaze to the entrance, maybe he made the wrong choice coming to WindClan? It seemed as if there were more dangers within the camp then outside it, and he didn't' like it. Not one bit. He silently prayed that the duo didn't come back from their 'walk'. Scorchfang curled his massive tail around himself, his eyes closed as the night threw her cloak on them, devouring the moors in her darkness.

Sedgeskip had got Scorchfang some moss to make into a nest before the moon had climbed too high, and it wasn't until the moon had reached its peak that the two mysterious cat did indeed reappear. Scorchfang didn't ask their business, but overheard their conversation as he pretended to sleep.

"He's a threat."

"Calm down dear."

"But-"

"No buts, we'll figure this out. I trust you as much as I trust myself, and I know that we'll make it through whatever he'll throw at us. Even if its the Clan, or each other, we'll make it through. Remember our objective?"

It was quiet for a moment.

"Yes... I do remember , we'll make him..no we'll make all of them break~"

"Good, now rest dear, we will need to watch how everything unravels or tightens around us."

"Yes..." Soft padding was heard, almost silent as shuffling could be heard. Scorchfang then felt a presence above him as his pelt chilled.

"What an interesting tom..." A kit like voice sang out as Scorchfang felt three very sharp claws near his neck. He resisted the urge to spring up and defend himself. This could be his very last breath, but then he felt them draw away. "You've got too much potential.. we can't kill you off just yet."

The rest of the night felt like a gruelling nightmare to the previous Shadowclan cat.
