Usually, days like these were a breeze.

Never before had Luna suffered from the overly sickening butterflies or the jittery shakes that she had as of now. On mornings like this, her family would be joyous and encouraging, telling her that she was bound to have a great time. She'd be welcomed by morning happiness and the delightful smell of pancakes and coffee, a small and almost apologetic tradition on her parents behalf. Usually, it'd all flow smoothly and work out to be somewhat okay.

Usually, Luna Thomas wouldn't have to face it alone.

At the past nine schools she as attended since the sixth grade, never had she felt quite so nervous or on edge. The blonde had always had someone by her side through it all but today she didn't have anyone, because today was different.

Today, Luna didn't wake up to pancakes and coffee, her parents weren't there to wish her good luck and try to calm her nerves. The butterflies were prominent, fluttering away and tickling tauntingly at her gut - the blonde felt sick to her stomach and she wanted to cry. Nothing about today was normal and Luna hated it. Though, there was nothing she could do. For months had the girl known that this day was coming, but it hadn't truly settled in until the night prior. It had never had a chance to sink in amongst her hectic summer but now, it was all sinking in far too fast for her to handle. It was overwhelming.

Pushing the thoughts aside, Luna huffed as she sped up, darting through the unfamiliar corridors with light curses beneath her breath. Being late was never good, especially on the first day of the academic year and also on her first day attending Beacon Hills High.

She knew that being late was troublesome but it was a bad habit that had only seem to progress over the years of her life. Whilst it had only been a harmless occurrence as a child, it now seemed much more of an issue than she could really explain. Luna was often late arriving at places or meeting people, starting on her homework and many other things, as such. Frankly, the blonde was always late in general - not by choice, of course. It just seemed to happen a lot, especially since the incident a while back. It was hard for Luna to process her thoughts and keep herself organised as of late. Whether it was because her mind was already too preoccupied dwelling on her past, or that she was just very terrible at keeping to time, no one really knew.

But what she did know, was that she really should have set her alarm.

The corridors were rather empty now, every other student had found their classroom in a jiffy. It was easier for them, being that they had all been going to the same two schools for years. She assumed that nearly all of them had grown up in the same place, and that they had it simple. Luna, however, had been going to this school for not even an hour and she was fully aware that she was already lost.

It really wasn't that large a building - she knew that for a fact, she had attended bigger - yet somehow, each turn of a hallway had only lead her to somewhere else new and unknown. The blonde had always been a bit incapable when it came to directions and she often got lost no matter where she was. Perhaps it was down to being flustered that morning, or flustered most of her days, but she was very confident that she was very lost. Truthfully, Luna was the type of girl whom could probably get lost within her own house; even if she was living in a literal cardboard box, she would somehow succeed in getting herself into a pickle.

The girl's first day was definitely not shaping up to be how she had wished it would be, and it was beginning to get on her nerves already.

Luna had originally hoped that this event would have been an effortless process and would have breezed by, ease dropping from its every factor. But just like the other times, it had turned out to be total chaos. Figures.

First of all, despite her anxiety and nausea throughout the night due to increasing nerves rendering her sleepless, the girl had managed to oversleep the time she had wanted to be awake by a half hour. This had then limited her time to both get ready and get to school, and send her into quite the frenzy. Like most teenage girls, the mission of powering on and trying to ignore that she was pushed for time had seemed unequivocally impossible, but she knew she had no choice in the matter; Luna would just have to be fast.

It was then w mad dash to the shower where she had fatefully caught herself whilst shaving and the hot water had conveniently run cold, meaning that she was left with bullets of ice. Whilst doing her make up she had poked herself in the eye with her mascara wand and burnt her hand whilst curling her long, blonde locks. Quite honestly, the morning had been a wreck. Horrific. It was a miracle as to how she looked somewhat decent and had made it out in one piece.

Soon enough, the girl was out of the door with an empty stomach. Her last hopes were to step on the gas and get to school, at least remotely, on time.

Was it wrong of her to be looking foreword to lunch and lunch only?

Once Luna had reached her destination, everyone had already dispersed from the halls and she was left to find the first classroom of the day on her own. The girl hadn't wanted to go through an awkward tour with their principal, and she could only guess that he wouldn't be impressed that she was late, so she had decided to risk it solo. Easy to say, she hadn't succeeded in finding anything quite yet.

She knew all too well that she had missed homeroom but it wasn't too important, at least not in her eyes. What had mattered most, was the lesson that Luna was currently missing out on. The tardy bell had gone ten minutes prior and there the girl was, still running through the hallways like a lunatic on crack in attempts to find room 104.

The plans of wanting to make a good first impression had clearly gone down the drain, you would have to be a fool to not realise such a thing. Luna had decided to try her hardest with everything, she wanted to try and make the best out of a bad situation and really put herself out there, but as far as she was concerned, she might as well have not shown up at all. It wasn't like she would be attending Beacon High long enough for anyone to care about her presence or existence, the teenager doubted they would stay longer than another month. It was a known fact that the Thomas family had never stayed in one place for longer than a month and even though they had said Beacon Hills was different, Luna strongly doubted it.

With another huff, the blonde clutched the satchel on her shoulder, untwisting the strap, and span around on her foot helplessly. The endless hopes for the desired classroom magically appearing out of nowhere were not granted and she was soon off again, traipsing the halls. It was a mindful debate as to whether she should merely run back to her car and ditch school for that day. No one was home, no one would even know.

The family had been in California for a measly three months and her parents had already flown half way across the country for several business affairs, far too many to count. Luna was more than used to her parents 'workaholic' attitudes so it wasn't too much of a problem as far as she was concerned.

The only problem was, the girl knew that she would likely get caught before even making it out of the doors by a teacher or a ratty student. It was truly, just her luck.

Then again, Luna's luck also appeared to be hobbling through her new school as fast as she could whilst praying to actually make it to her first period, even if it was only for the remaining thirty minutes.

Still confused as to how she had gotten so lost in a school, the teenager looked down to her shoes in despair. As pretty as the four inch heels were, they were certainly not helping with her predicament. It was making it twice as hard to get around in the speed that she wished and Luna was starting to regret her outfit of choice. The polished beauties on her feet were a ravishing and dazzling curse.

Tightening her curled pony tail and assuring that it was still neat, a small pout formed on her pink lips. Luna leaned against a random locker and rubbed her forehead, the other hand fiddling with the moon pendant on the chain around her neck. A headache was brimming as she tried to recall the directions that the school receptionist had given. It would be a lie if Luna denied having stopped listening to her after the first 'go right'. It was nothing personal, the poor woman was far too monosyllabic for her liking.

After a few moments, the girl pushed herself away from the lockers and sucked in a breath. She was going to find that damn classroom if it was the last thing she did.

And with that, Luna began to march through the halls again, determination radiating off of her strides. She made sure to look at every door number and kept an eye out for anyone or anything that could help her on her way. When Luna was determined, she was very determined.

At least five minutes later, maybe longer because she hadn't actually take the chance to look at her phone and be sure, the blonde was taking another deep breath as she stared at the door with big, blue eyes. The numbers 104 were pasted on the rim between the windows and she knew that the last half hour had eventually paid off. The blinds on the other side of the window were drawn so that no one could see her, giving her a small amount of time to compose herself before it was time to face the music. The familiar nerves fluttered in her belly as she thought about how the next few months could turn out.

The pressure was on. Either she would miraculously become popular and everyone would love her, or she would turn out like she had in the last two schools: alone.

Luna didn't know which option was better.

Shaking her hands out nervously, before she could stop herself she clutched the doorknob and rolled it clockwise. The click of the lock sounded through the room as the door opened, all heads turning to face the new girl who was very late.

Luna's face flushed at all the attention she received at her appearance and she strolled into the room awkwardly, not quite sure of what to do next. She shuffled on her feet, swaying back and forth, and pushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear. Before the door had even fully shut behind her, she had started to scan the room in hopes of a spare seat.

"Ah, I gather that you're Miss Thomas?" the teacher huffed, not at all amused, "Care to share why you're twenty five minutes late to my lesson?"

Saving herself the humiliation in front of her new class mates, Luna stayed quiet and thumbed with her fingers. Taking the silence as an answer, the teacher sighed again.

"Miss Argent seemed to find her way perfectly fine," he continued, "She's just as new as you are."

Frankly, the situation was summing up to be just as awful as she had expected. Being late never went down well, especially on the first day. It was a measly two minutes in and her teacher already hated her. A new record, at that.

Luna noticed a pale brunette in the corner as the girl blushed and sank into her seat. The two new girls were in the same predicament, wishing that they'd disappear. It was pretty clear that she was the Argent girl that the teacher spoke of and Luna could this help but notice a free chair beside her own.

A few sympathetic gazes were sent her way and the blonde automatically assumed that her teacher was a bit of an ass on an everyday basis. Perfect.

"Seeing as this is your first day, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and not give you a detention," Luna exhaled in relief at his words, "Take a seat."

Doing just as the man said, she made her way over to the free chair and practically threw herself into it. The teenager rubbed a hand over her face as she shrugged her way into the desk, wanting nothing more than to evaporate into thin air. She knew that being late would not go down well but she hadn't really expected her teacher to be quite so rude about it. Then again, Luna should have been grateful that she got off without any sort of punishment - only minor embarrassment. Her parents would have killed her if she had succeeded in getting a detention on the first day.

If they were ever around, that is.

Pinching her neck with bad habit, she breathed out slowly. The upside to the situation wasn't that she wasn't too humiliated. She was yet to say something lame that would ruin her chances of making any friends. Surely, that was an upside?

Straightening out her skirt perfectly, Luna figured that she would attempt to withhold talking any time soon, for her own sake. That way she prevented any damage in her hope for social success. Although, staying quiet wasn't the easiest task for the girl. When nervous, she babbled and rambled on without knowing that she was doing it. Today her nerves were at a high and she had no doubt that her plan would fail unequivocally.

"It's hard being new, right?"

Luna's head turned to where the voice had come from, seeing the other new girl send her a small smile. It took a few seconds to register what was happening before she succeeded in smiling back and going against the thoughts that she had just fathomed in her brain, "Yeah, but I'm used to it."

"How so?" the brunette furrowed her brows, eager to know what she meant.

Luna shrugged her shoulders once, "I move around a lot."

She waited a few seconds before nodding her head, being able to relate to the blonde in that sense. Luna was thankful that she didn't further with any questions as she didn't really need interrogation right now. The girls existence was new to her and she was surprised that she had even plucked up a conversation. She was also new here and they were in the same boat. Neither of them had anyone else to speak to.

"I'm Allison," the pale girl grinned.

The teenager was quick to inspect her, as she always did when meeting someone new. She was quite good at reading people and she always pinned her attitude towards them on her own self judgment. If Luna thought you were a bitch, high chances were that you indeed were a bitch and she wouldn't want to know you - it was just how it worked.

Looking at Allison Argent, all she got were utterly good vibes. Allison was incredibly beautiful and just looking at her pushed Luna's self esteem even lower to the ground than it had been already. She was lovely and pretty, she radiates pure goodness, and the blonde had no doubt that she would be snapped up by whoever was deemed popular in BHH, in no time at all. That was how it always worked, the pretty new girl was taken under the popular girl's wing immediately. Luna had been to multiple schools and all of them complied to that order.

She returned the gesture happily, finding joy in that fact that the girl had wanted to make conversation with her straight away, "Luna."

"Luna?" she nodded approving that Allison had indeed heard it the name right, "As in Lovegood?"

The girl rolled her eyes but laughed nonetheless. It wasn't unusual to get that reaction when people heard her name. Harry Potter was a huge craze and it wasn't surprising that people automatically assumed that she was named after one of the characters. However, none ever seemed to show quite as much enthusiasm about it as Allison Argent did.

"Yes and no," Luna chuckled, "Yes, that's my name but no, I wasn't named after a book character."

   Allison pouted jokingly, "Damn."

Letting out another laugh, Luna shook her head at her new friend as they started up a new conversation. It was odd, to say the least. She had only met the girl five minutes prior and the two were already talking as if they had been friends for years.

Allison was easy to get along with and Luna was extremely thankful that they had been put in the same class for first period. It definitely made it easier and it meant that they both had at least someone to stick with through the day. They understood how each other were feeling and Luna decided that maybe she didn't have to go through this day alone.

Allison was just as new as she was.

"So," Allison giggled, leaning across her desk with a palm under her chin,

"Do you like lacrosse?"
