A Little Worry Rant

Hi everyone! I guess this is like a short little note, but it's to do with the Ramayan, so I suppose it's not completely random.

Recently, I've been reading a lot of online forums and discussions on the Ramayan. Well, not recently, but today. And I've come across some things.

Here is Exhibit A:

Hopefully you can read it!

I agree with this completely. Ram wouldn't have been winded by Sita, or fallen in love with her charms that he starts to daydream. It's completely against his character and it makes no sense. One of his 108 names means the man who has conquered his senses. He was the perfect man. He couldn't have just been shaken so quickly, else how would he have been able to defeat Ravan?

Problem is, that's maybe sort of kind of how I wrote about him in Princes of Ayodhya.

I know nobody remembers that chapter from long ago, so here it is.

It shows here that he was smitten at first sight. Which goes against the post and Shri Ram's actual characterization.

One more different scenario.

Here's Exhibit B:

Kind of a long one, but to summarize it, it's saying that it is illogical for Ravan to have attended that swayamvar at all. Which, again, after reading the argument, I agree with, but alas!

In PoA, he indeed did attend the swayamvar, took part, lost, and huffily left.

It was also mentioned that this particular detail is often included in versions across Southern India, but I've always heard the Bengali Ramayan, so that's confusing.

And Exhibit C:

And I'm starting to realize that a lot of the points that people argue against some serials or adaptations of Ramayan are included in my own story! My hatred of SKR is the same, but the hypocrisy is that many of the reasons they hate the serial are similar in my books!

Apparently, Sita and her sisters would have never been allowed to meet with Ram and Lakshman. And pranks would have been impossible before marriage, and there was no room for jealousy because chances were they would have been kept far apart because of accordances with the Treta Yug. But of course, Kaikeyi could have never doubted any of her sons' new wives.

So that was a scary realisation. 😅

I was considering editing all the controversial parts out, but I'm not sure, so I was thinking of asking for a little feedback as to what you guys think?
