Chapter 1
Gajeel's POV
I sigh as I walk to the Guild with Pantherlily hovering next to me.
"When will you fall in love Gajeel," Pantherlily ask me for the 10th time this week.
"When I'm dead," I tell him yet again.
Lily sigh as we walk into the Guild. I see Salamander and Bunny Girl talking. It's strange how that dense idiot got a girl before his blue excced. I always thought Carla, the white female exceed, would tell Happy, the blue exceed, before Lucy, who I call Bunny Girl, had the guts to kiss Natsu, who is Salamander. Gray, who I nickname Stripper, and Juvia, who is Rain Woman, have been dating for 6 months. We walk over to the bar where Mira is.
"Hey Gajeel, Lily. The usual?"
"Sure thing Mira," Lily says
She disappears to get us our order. I wait for her to come back as I chat with Pantherlily.
"What job are you going to do today," he ask me.
"Don't know."
"Here you go," Mira says as she hands me a plate of iron and Lily a Kiwi and a Kiwi drink. "By the way, a Request came in asking for you Gajeel," she tells me as she hands it to me. "It also requires you to go alone."
I look over the paper. It is asking me to figure out what lives in the old library at the outskirts of the town. the reward is 250,000 jewels.
"Alright. I'm gonna go. See ya later Lily," I tell my friend as I head off to get some clothing and then to the train station.
I sit down at a chair on the train as it lurks out of the train station. It will take 3 hours to get to the town. I will then have to find the person who sent this out and talk to the person, then head to library that the job spoke of. Sounds easy enough.
Levy's POV
I open my eyes as I look around the library that I call home. I get up and stretch my orange wings as I let a yawn out. I look around as i fly down to the lower level. The stairs to the second floor and my nest are broken, so I know that no human can hurt me while I sleep. I have had to scared some humans away. They want to fix my home up and use it again. If they do that, they will find me and case me away for kill me. I don't understand that this enemy between humans and Harpies was set up. I have read everything that I can about Guilds and anything about the Guild responsible for this. I keep coming up empty about the Guild, but I'm pretty sure they are what the book call, a Dark Guild. I remember reading the old Magic Council laws, that it was forbidden to attack the Harpies. And because the Dark Guild attack us, the peace between us was broken. Harpies are now hunted and feared. I sigh as I sit down. I was there when they attacked the Harpy king, killed the queen, put the princess into a coma and made the 3 year old prince go into hiding.
"So a Harpy is here," I hear a masculine voice say.
I jump as a turn around to face him. He have red piercing eyes as he stare down at me. His raven black hair falls down his back. He have two piercings one each side of his nose, three where his eyebrows should, two below his chin and five on each ear. I look at his as I notice scars on his right arm, and three more piercings. How many piercings does he have?!
"So...what are ya doing here," he ask as he bends down so we are only inches apart.
"I-I live here," I manage to squeak out.
"Eh?! But why here? Wouldn't ya live with other Harpies?"
"No, I'm not a big fan of this warish thing between Humans and Harpies. So I'm staying here until it pass by and we can make up what happen," I tell him regaining my confidence.
"And why is that? Didn't ya Harpies want this? Isn't that why ya attacked us?"
"What?! Do you think the King wanted to attack you?! If it wasn't for that Guild we wouldn't be where we are today," I tell him as my wings flutter in anger.
"And what Guild did it? All of the official Guilds knew not ta attack yer kind," he ask as he stands to his full height and cross his arms.
"It wasn't an official Guild. It is one that the books that I read call a Dark Guild. Since it says that they don't follow the rules of the Magic Council," I tell him.
"Do ya know which one?"
"I'm not sure if I trust you. You did come into my home and start to question me," I tell him.
"It is either me, or the town. I don't think they will listen to ya," he tells me. "All of the towns fear yer kind and either put ya in jail or kill ya on the spot."
"I know that!!! That is why I live here. I never thought that they would try and fix this up after 150 years of no one working or coming here."
"Are ya that old?"
"No!!! I know because of the newspaper!! The war or standoff or whatever happen between Humans and Harpies have only lasted for about 10 years!"
"What is yer name Shrimp," he ask me.
"Shrimp?! What is that name for?!"
"Well, ya are tiny like one," he tells me.
"I'm not small!! You are just too big! The name is Levy McGarden. What is yours?"
"Gajeel Redfox," he tells me. "So, ya like ta read."
"Yup!I have memorized 100 of the books in here," I tell him with pride as his jaw drops open.
"100?! Ya memorized 100 of the books in this library Shrimp?!"
"Yes, and don't call me shrimp!!!"
"GeeHee. Well, I will see ya tomorrow," Gajeel tells me as he started to leave.
"What?! Why?! Can't you stay," I ask him as I fly after him.
"Sorry. The sun is going down and the town might worry and come ta the library if I don't go back."
"When will you be back tomorrow?"
"Around noon. After tomorrow I'm heading home," Gajeel tells me.
"What will happen with me? And the Library? Will they come and try and take it from me? Will I survive," I ask him as he looks at me.
"How should I know? I'm not gonna tell 'em that ya live there."
"Ok...can I go with you? I can wear a cloak to hide me wings and wear boots to hide my talon feet," I say as he turn and look at me.
"And what will happen then? I work at a Guild called Fairy Tail so I will be going on jobs ta pay for the house that I live in with my Exceed Pantherlily," Gajeel tells me.
"I know Magic! I know Solid Script Magic! It's not good for battle, but it is better then nothing," I tell him as I land in front of him. "And then we can find the Dark Guild and make them tell the Magic Council what they did and then tell the King and we can end this."
Gajeel ponders as I wait patiently.
"Alright. But ya don't tell anyone that yer a Harpy if Pantherlily finds ya or one of my friends come over," Gajeel tells me.
I squeal in happiness and hug him.
"Thank you!!!!"
"Yeah, Yeah. Let me go," He says as I let him go. "I will see ya at noon. Make sure yer stuff is in a bag. I will get ya the cloak and the boots...and better clothing," I says as I look down and see my torn jeans and ripped shirt.
"Ok! See you at noon," I say as I wave goodbye to his retreating figure.
I squeal in excitement and head back to the library to pack my things into my satchel. I can't wait to see what this path have in store for me.
