Castle

This is a tale

of a gift to life,

one we think little of.

But this gift is kind,

hardworking, caring, sweet,

beautiful and always loved.

So there once was a castle

bursting with life

that sat on top of a hill.

This little castle

then seemed to shift

and suddenly went very still.

The queen, however, wasn't gone yet

she held on tight

and stayed that way

Even when ivy started to grow

and wrinkles spread on her face

the queen stood there every day.

The castle crumbled

and was forgotten by all

and the inhabitants were now long gone.

But under all the damage

and rubble and rock

the queen stayed there dusk 'til dawn.

Then one miraculous day,

The old queen finally moved

she stood up proud and tall

she walked around

then announced to no one,

"This is MY kingdom, all!"

She built it back

brick by brick

and didn't take any breaks

And when she finished

she stood back to look

Then said playfully, "You're late."

For next to her

was her little girl

Smiling just like the sun

now they were reunited

They clasped hands

and then they were one.

This tale, you see,

is not popular

and it's not very well-known.

For my heart is the castle

And the queen?

That is my mother

who sits on the throne.
