Childhood
Coleman's POV
Finally, I tracked down this Levi Ackerman. Nothing was known about him... he just kept quiet. His uncle was out of town- working. There was nothing about his mother but a death certificate. From what I saw, he was about 7 years old when she died. Her cause of death was sealed. After she had died, Kenny Ackerman adopted Levi and took him under his wing. Nothing else was known. I had to understand that this wasn't a suspect. With the media hunting Hanji Zoe down, I wanted to explore different possibilities.
"So... Levi Ackerman." I say, looking at him in the interview room. I was stunned to see how calm he was. Extraordinary calm. Most people would grow afraid about why they were in this interview room, but he was just... calm. He never shifted in his chair or anything. Not gazing off to the corner where I wasn't looking at. His calm eyes stayed steadily on me. "Let's chat about you."
Silence.
"Your mom died when you were young... what was she like?"
Silence.
"This is an investigation. You will be disobeying the laws if you don't answer me. Now, what was your mother like before she died?"
Levi sighed, falling for what I said. "She was... nice. Always wanting to take care of me. Always loved me. Always telling me that even if I didn't feel okay... I would be okay. That there's always gonna be someone to take care of me- no matter what. When she died... I didn't know what to say..."
I nodded my head, taking everything in. I began to analyze what he was saying. Kuchel Ackerman was acting kind... like she needed to protect Levi- protect him from what? I know a lot of parents tend to take care of their children and become overprotective... but her wording... was weird. Levi repeated the phrase "someone to take care of me," and I believe that has some sort of meaning. Was Levi not capable of taking care of himself?
"That's it. Anything else? I want to go home."
I scoffed, looking down at this boy. "Is something at home so important that you need to tend to immediately?"
There it was- in his eyes! A glimpse of worry! He was worried about something at his house... but his uncle was out and about. Hanji has been missing for awhile... could he be... hiding her? It was possible... but what would his motive be for holding her captive?
"Levi, answer me."
"Tch... I just want to go home. None of this is making me comfortable." He then returned to his state of calmness. "I never thought you would be dredging up my mother's death. I buried it for so long and hid it away. Now you're here and digging it up. Why? What's so important about her death? She died of a sickness."
"My condolences." I sighed, realizing it all. I was so focused on getting Levi as my primary suspect... I didn't think of how I would... you know... just mess everything up. "There was a murder just before you were born. I thought that somehow you would be involved. Sorry."
"May I leave now?"
"After a few more questions." And in return, he grunted. He really wanted to go home... "Now, Levi, what was life like with your uncle? Was it normal?"
Levi nods his head. "Yes... normal..."
"And... I see that you've been... somewhat of a troublemaker in school. Skipping classes now?"
"I don't want to be in school. Is that a problem?"
I leaned down at him, staring right into his eyes. "The problem is that you never skipped classes until after the 3 deaths of some classmates in your school. Hiding something? Something related to those murders?" I had to get him... I had to get him now.
"Is it a problem... that I don't want to go to a school that's dangerous? If skipping school is a crime during a serial killer out there... then shouldn't you investigate the other kids skipping school?" He said it with a calm smirk. Whatever I said... he always had something to say back to me. Either he was that good... or it's the truth... "Now, may I leave? I want to eat my ice cream at my house and watch some TV- being safe from that murderer out there."
I sighed, realizing I had no other evidence to hold him down. "Yes, you may leave. Officer Jones will escort you out and get your ice cream she had promised you."
I could've sworn that as he passed me, he gave me a sly smirk and walked out the doors. My eyes shut tightly as I saw my defeat. Was I destroyed by this... this kid?!

Levi's POV
"Sorry I'm late, Hanji." I say, giving her the new ice cream. I had to wait until that police car left and I was left alone with her. Hanji was eagerly eating away the ice cream I had bought her. "Police took me in for questioning... asking me if I was involved with the murders. All they had on me was my mother's death. They didn't ask anything of you, Hanji... and I would never say anything to put you in danger..." I then leaned forward and kissed her cheek. My hand grazed against her leg, making her jump a bit.
"T-Thank you..." She then puts her ice cream into the freezer before walking back to me. Why didn't she want it? But she kissed me on the lips, pushing herself against me. "Thank you, Levi... for protecting me... I... I love you..."
Why did my cheeks grow warm? Why did I feel... so... so hot? For some reason... I took her hand and walked upstairs with her. The way Hanji giggled when we walked upstairs... and the way how she embraced me... I protected her... I protected her from getting captured. My beating heart was pounding and echoing in my head... Hanji... that was all on my mind. Hanji... what were we doing?
I watched her lay on the bed... and I locked the door... she looked so cute... what was I doing? Was this normal?
