05. Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder
Chapter Five, Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder
Joe gave Inari four days on her own in Miami before he came and got her. He knew she needed space so he gave it to her but once he heard she was house hunting in Miami from Jon, who found out from Trinity.
He hopped on a private jet to bring his wife home.
He wasn't leaving Miami without his wife.
"Pack your bags," Joe said as soon as Inari opened the front door of her rental home and found Joe standing there.
Joe entered the house, not giving Inari a moment to process what was happening. Inari closed the door and followed Joe up the stairs with a small smirk on her face.
"Sir, I'm not going anywhere," Inari said.
"Ma'am, I'm not playing with you," Joe said, looking for Inari's room. "Which one is yours?" Joe asked her.
Inari shrugged. "I don't know," Inari answered.
They stood in the hallway going back and forth, arguing about their relationship until Inari gave in and entered her room. There were a lot of truths spoken, mostly out of Inari's mouth, but Joe and Inari agreed to disagree and move on.
"How did you find this place?" Inari asked Joe as she pulled out her suitcases to start packing.
"I checked your credit card statement plus Trinity told Jon, and Jon told me," Joe answered as he sat on the bed, watching Inari pack.
Inari rolled her eyes. "Of course," Inari said.
Joe sighed. "I'm sorry," Joe said.
"Are you sorry because you think you are going to lose me, or are you sorry because you see that you're wrong as hell for how you've been treating me?" Inari asked Joe as she stopped packing and looked at him.
"Both. I'm sorry for everything. It's going to take time for me to work out my issues and change my mindset but I don't want to lose you, Inari, ever, especially not over this," Joe answered.
Inari sighed. "Our families are notorious for sweeping their problems under the rug. And I don't want that for us, Joe, so when I try to have a conversation with you. It's not to fight you but to work out our problems and differences together and move on," Inari said.
"You know I struggle to process my emotions so sometimes when you want to have those deep conversations, I shut down," Joe said.
"And that's why when we get back home, we're going to counseling because you can't keep doing that. If we want this marriage to work then we both need to be emotionally available and understanding to each other," Inari told Joe.
Joe shakes his head. "I'm not telling my business to a stranger," Joe said.
Inari glared at him. "But you will have to tell a stranger your business if we get a divorce, Joe," Inari said.
Joe was shocked. "A divorce? For what?" Joe asked Inari.
Inari kissed her teeth. "If we can't work out our problems then there is no reason for us to be together," Inari answered.
Joe thought about it and he didn't want to lose his wife so if she wanted to do counseling with a stranger being in their business then so be it.
"So, when does counseling start?" Joe asked Inari.
"Well, Trinity recommended me to her and Jon's counselor so once we get back, I'll get in contact with them and set an appointment," Inari answered.
"Okay," Joe said.
Inari picked up a packet of paper and handed it to Joe. "Oh, by the way, I bought a house," Inari said, smiling.
Joe stared at the paper, mentally shredding the papers into tiny pieces as he saw the price of the house that Inari bought.
"Fuck, Inari!" Joe exclaimed.

"Oh this is cute," Inari said as she and Joe entered the spa.
"Hello, welcome to Sounds Grotto and Spa, I'm Crystal," An employee greeted the couple.
"Hi," Inari said.
"Hey," Joe said.
"Are y'all ready for a sound bath?" Crystal asked.
Inari looked at Joe. Joe nodded. "Yes, we are," Inari answered.
Before returning home, Inari took Joe to a sound bath grotto and spa because she wanted to do a sound bath with him. They both had a lot on their plates and they're stressed out. Inari wanted to get rid of pent-up anger between her and Joe.
Zadia suggested that a sound bath would enlighten both Joe and Inari. Inari thought Zadia was crazy for the suggestion but at this point, Inari is willing to try anything to save her marriage.
So, if a sound bath can bring her and Joe some inner healing then she's doing it.
Joe on the other hand wasn't sure a sound bath would help them but he promised Inari he would do anything for her and their marriage so he was going along with it.
"Follow me," Crystal said, leading the couple to the back room.
"Okay," Inari said as she and Joe followed Crystal into a room with sound bowls and lawn chairs.
"Have a seat," Crystal said.
The couple did as they were told.
Inari sighed as she took a seat and covered herself with the blanket. She prays for this work because before she goes back home she needs to clear her head so she can get what she needs to get out of this counseling with Joe.
The vibrational sound therapist walks in and introduces herself to the couple. "Hi, my name is Rainbow," Rainbow said.
Joe looked at Inari and wanted to laugh out loud so bad. Why is everyone's name in the building so distinctive? Joe shakes his head.
"And I'm going to be your vibrational sound therapist today, so if you're ready just lean back and you can go all the way back in the chairs," Rainbow said.
Joe and Inari do as she says but look at each other and start laughing. They can't take this shit seriously. What the hell was Zadia thinking telling them to do this? They relax as Rainbow starts talking again.
"So, I invite you now to just close your eyes, and if you have an intention that you'd like to set today, something you would like to manifest," Rainbow says as Inari closes her eyes.
"Just go ahead and breathe it into your heart center and be open to receive so just relax and enjoy and I'll see you on the other sound," Rainbow said.
Rainbow starts playing her sound bath instruments as Inari feels herself relaxing and at ease to the point she is getting sleepy. Meanwhile, Joe fell asleep and was dreaming about having another baby.
Rainbow stops playing. "Alright, when you're ready you can open your eyes. You can sit up and put your feet in the salt to ground you a little bit and healing is going to continue to take place and move through you for a while," Rainbow pauses as she notices that Joe isn't moving.
Inari looks over at Joe and shakes her head. This motherfucker is sleeping through this process.
"Joe," Inari said as she nudged him to wake up.
Rainbow chuckles a little bit.
"Joe," Inari said, nudging him repeatedly until he woke up.
Joe looks around the room before clearing his throat and sitting up.
"Thank you again so much for coming," Rainbow said.
"Thank you," Inari said.
"Thanks," Joe said.
Joe looks at Inari. "We got to build one of these at the house," Joe told Inari.
"Best nap you ever took, right?" Inari asked Joe.
"Yup, I was at ease. I felt it through my body," Joe answered.
Joe and Inari chuckled. "Do you think it worked?" Inari asked Joe.
"I hope so. Did you manifest?" Joe replied.
"I did manifest and I needed it for real," Inari said, before raising an eyebrow at Joe. "Did you manifest?" Inari asked him.
Joe smiled. "Yes, I did," Joe answered.
