Damon takes a deep breath before getting out of the car.
"Are you sure you guys want to do this?" Abir asks them one last time. Listening to Brent's story, it was obvious that the Elders would do nothing to help them.
"We have come a long way now." Damon answers, "We can't back off."
The hotel was on the outer edge of the town, surrounded by a lot of guards. It took them almost two hours to reach here. Ivory and Abir stay out, in case all of this goes to hell.
Damon and Kyros walk through the empty hallways of the hotel, glancing at the number of men they are surrounded by.
"We are screwed if we fuck this up." Kyros whispers to him as they are being escorted to the Elder Alpha's room.
"Indeed." Even Damon was nervous. Only once in his whole life, has he met the Elders. The time when they were deciding their exile.
One of the wolves opens the door for them and they hear that husky voice which Damon remembers.
They were in the lion's den.
"Come in." the Alpha commands them.
They walk in silently as the door behind them closes. The Alpha wasn't facing them.
"It's nice to see you, Damon, after all these years." He starts in his deep, husky voice, "And this young man," he turns to finally show his face.
He has grown quite old since the last time Damon saw him. White hair, wrinkled skin but he still had hawk-like eyes. His voice was still scary and intimidating as it was before.
"And this young man." He puts his hand forward to shake Kyros's hand, "I have heard a lot about you." Kyros shakes his hand hesitantly and the Alpha goes to sit on his chair.
"So, what made you lot come here? I can see you brought two more with you. They could have come inside." He shows them the cameras.
"We thought we would be disturbing you." Damon says, bowing.
"What disturbance?" he laughs, "You are the Alpha Kings of one of the most esteemed packs in our history, nothing can make you a disturbance."
"I am sorry I couldn't make it to the meeting tonight." The Alpha apologizes, "Our newest Elder was lost. We got worried. I hope Victor did the proper dispersal?"
"He did." Damon says with a scoff, "He was ready to dispose of hundreds of other wolves."
The Alpha smiled at him with an unreadable expression, "I am aware what he did must have angered you a lot. But I heard everyone was healed and escaped." He looks at Kyros.
"That doesn't correct the many wrongs that Victor has been doing under your name and authority." Kyros says, "If the general public came to know about it, it would be difficult for you to continue."
"Are you threatening me now, child?" The Elder smiles, making them uncomfortable.
"No." Damon speaks up, "We are here to make things right. We are here to get rid of the deal you have with Victor, which is holding you down from punishing him."
"What are you talking about?" The Elder cocks his head on the side, still smiling.
"We know about your 'deals'." Kyros deliberately uses the plural. "The failed one and the interim one."
"Is that so?" he gets up, strolling around the room, "And what are you going to use that information for?"
"To help you." Damon gets up too. "We can help you break the deal if you help us. Help us to get Victor down."
"Who said I need your help?' the Elder turns to them, this time with a serious expression.
"Victor is planning to overthrow you." Damon plays a recording from his phone. He had secretly recorded Brent when he was spilling out the secrets.
"Is this enough proof for you?" Damon questions. But to his surprise, the Elder brings back his smile on his face.
"And what do you want me to do with this?" he asks cockily.
"He is planning to get your position and you still want to trust him?" Kyros asks him.
They are insane.
"I am asking you what will you do with this." He asks seriously.
"We will declare war if this isn't sorted out." Damon warns.
"And how will you do that?" he sits on the chair, cockily. "You think the other wolves will help you in it? Will they believe a deserter and murderer of an entire generation of the pack?" he points at Kyros. "Or will they believe a powerful Alpha King who was responsible for the first war in so many years?"
He snatches his phone from his hand and throws it at the wall, breaking it into pieces.
"I will think this meeting never happened." The Elder warns looking at both the men.
"You are making a big mistake!" Kyros warns him when several guards come to drag them out.
"Some pages of the book need to be hidden for us to finish the story." He speaks for the last time after the doors are closed on them.
"We can go by ourselves!" Kyros says, freeing himself from the guards.
After the Elder Alpha was sure they were out, he dials his number.
"Victor, we need to talk."
"What do we do now?" Damon asks as they were walking down the halls. But Kyros was distracted.
He saw a small boy, peeking through a small room. When Kyros glanced at him, he quickly hid. Kyros was sure that the kid looked familiar. But to who?
Damon shakes him from his thoughts, "Oh, yeah...what to do now?"
"Let's get home first. We will plan something. No one would indeed help us, given our history." He points at themselves.
Abir and Ivory were outside, unharmed. Kyros looks at them with a dejected expression.
"We will think of something." Ivory tries to cheer them up as they drive back home.
"We have to get Odin first," Damon says as Abir parks the car in front of the house and they get out of it. The whole journey of to and fro has taken a toll on their bodies, especially Kyros. He already lost a lot of blood today.
"We will not let anything happen to him," Kyros assures him as they come on the doorstep. He stops mid-step when he sees a big box in front of it.
"To my Little Brother." Kyros reads, "Signed by Vic."
"This is from Victor?" Abir takes it. It was a bit heavy. Ivory opens the door, announcing that they were back.
"Inara, Zade, we are back!"
Abir places the box down and looks at Brent on the couch, who was awake.
"What the fuck! Who did that?" Brent says, massaging the back of his head.
"I did." Ivory states and signals him to get up. "Your brother sent you something."
"Here? He sent it here?" He asks looking at the box with wide eyes.
"Why?" Damon asks, dreading his answer.
"He doesn't know that I am here! He doesn't know that I am helping you!" He gulps, "And he hates betrayers."
Kyros takes the knife from the kitchen and opens up the box.
He opens the flaps and looks inside with a dreadful expression. Everyone looks inside, and Brent screams his lungs out.
Zade and Inara come out of the room, hearing the inhuman shriek.
"What happened?" Zade asked as he eyes the box in front of him.
"What is that?" he walks towards it.
That moment was when everything broke inside of Zade.
Inara could almost hear his heart breaking.
