Evelyn slips from the bed noiselessly, taking the sheet to wrap her body but it had already woken up Brent.
"Leaving already?" Brent says in his sleepy voice. Evelyn takes a huff and turns to face him, still wrapped in the sheet.
"Want me to stay over?" she smirks knowing the answer, "Victor won't like it."
"Threatening me already?" Brent smirks at her. She had this unique personality that attracted Brent to her in the first place.
"You aren't of any use yet. So, this is my last option." She says, trying to wear her clothes. Some of them were ripped and she hisses at Brent for ruining her expensive clothes.
"It is her blood." Brent finally starts speaking. He lies on his back on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Evelyn's scent was lingering in the room and he likes it. "Apparently, Inara comes from a line of very special wolves or something."
"What does her blood do?" she sits on the bed.
"Heals wolfsbane."
Evelyn's brows shut up in realization. That's why Zade must be behind her. For Damon. But why was Victor behind her?
"Now I see why everyone is so smitten about her. She is a wolf." She remembers the time when Zade would frantically ask her about Inara being a wolf. Honestly, she could only smell her being a human but nowadays, it was possible to smell like humans.
"But she doesn't have her memories or her powers anymore. Vic is trying to get them back." He touches Evelyn's arm delicately.
"Does Zade have to be dragged in this?" she asks with a bit of concern in her voice. She spent almost six years with this man. She wasn't attached to him or anything but she felt pity.
"Concerned about your mate, huh?" Brent smirks before pulling her on top of him. He plays with the hem of her top.
"We both know he isn't my mate," Evelyn smirks before pecking his lips lightly. "You thought my wolf won't recognize you? Aurora finally felt something after so many years."
"Don't tell anyone," Brent warns her but his tone showed he was a bit scared.
"Or don't tell Victor about it?" Evelyn knows that Brent would want to hide this, especially from Victor. "How would he feel when he comes to know that his little brother has finally found his mate but she is from a low blood family?" she was fiddling with her phone, warning him that Victor was just a call away.
"What do you need?" Brent finally gives in.
"What does Victor have in mind for the Blue Moons? And what about the promise to the Sliver Bows?"
"The Silver Bows will have everything that they need for the next five generations. That treaty is being followed diligently. As for the Blue Moons, Victor is the authority now. But once Damon becomes healthy, the Elders might turn their backs on him and make him the authority again."
"Of course, the Blue Moons aren't that strong as before but once Damon gets on his feet, it is over for the Black Alders. Which means it is over for you too." Brent states. Evelyn thinks about it. The Silver Bows remain protected only under Blue Moons according to her treaty. But once the Blue Moons know that she had been going behind their back for a long time, she won't live to see another day.
"So, if Damon gets cured by Inara's blood, it will ruin Victor's plan." Evelyn deduces.
"Bingo!" Brent says, eating his food that was left by a servant in his room.
"I need two things. Permission to nullify a treaty with the Blue Moons and a small promise that Zade won't get hurt." Evelyn puts forth a sheet of paper. Brent bites his lip. It will be difficult for him to get permission from Victor without explaining to him why he was doing it. He has to do it secretly.
"Okay. What else?" he gulps taking the contract.
"I am still confused about one thing though." She also digs in the food, "How did the Elders agree to make Victor the authority? They knew he has a maniacal tendency." She puts it bluntly.
"Victor talks about some deal he cracked with the Elders but I know nothing about it," Brent says, still eating his food.
"Why?" Evelyn stops eating. "He doesn't trust you enough?" she tries to press his buttons but he doesn't seem to budge.
"I never got myself into all of this. And Victor respects my boundaries. I trust him because I know whatever he is doing, it is for our pack." Brent replies calmly.
"You are awfully loyal to someone without even knowing what they are up to." Evelyn points out the major flaw in their sibling bond.
"But we both trust each other." He emphasizes the word trust and looks at Evelyn as if it is some kind of sign for her.
"Yeah, yeah." She replies before digging into the food again, "I won't tell anyone, especially him that I am your mate."
"But that is only until I am assured that the other side of the deal is being held up. I can't let anything happen to the future Alpha king of the Blue Moons until I get the treaty nullified."
"We have been walking for hours now. Do you really think we are on the right path?" Zade stops to rest. He leans on a tree and takes a sip from his bottle. Abir was only a few meters away from him but he seems to have a lot more energy than Zade.
"My instincts say so." Abir also waits until Zade catches up to him. "And we have only been walking for an hour. Stop whining like a small kid." He mocks him.
Abir's eyes suddenly catch the glimpse of a stone. It has an arrow engraved on it and was covered in moss. He bends down to examine it. If he remembers correctly, it will have the sign beneath it. He lifts the stone and as he had guessed, there was the sign beneath it. The sign of the Blood Stone pack.
"Found something?" Zade approaches Abir as he was crouching in front of something. Abir shows him the rock and the sign.
"It is the sign of the Blood Stone. An oak tree." Abir looks in the direction where the stone is pointed at. "This way." He starts to quicken his pace as if he must have found the right path. Zade doesn't waste his time and follows him too.
Zade felt very weird being in the forest again. He felt as if the forest was opening its way to welcome them, inviting them in the deep.
"This is weird." Zade murmurs but Abir was quick to catch that.
"This is the forest. It is welcoming us back to our home." Abir says in a satisfactory tone. He stops and turns to Zade. "I present to you, the Blood Stone House." He points at the mansion behind him.
Zade's jaw drops looking at the size of the mansion. But compared to the forest's size, it seemed to be very small.
"The door must be jammed shut." Abir tries it alone but Zade helps him too. Once they are inside, Zade knows they will have a hard time cleaning all this on their own.
"We should start by checking all the rooms. We don't want unwanted guests here." Abir says as he starts with the kitchen.
He also brings out the broom and bucket of water and hands them to Zade.
"Let's start with the cleaning, shall we?" he grins at Zade.
