"Luca Clarke was the Alpha King of that pack. Inara's mate." Abir states.

"You were protecting Inara's mate's pack?" Zade expresses his shock bitterly. He still feels like that but blames it mostly on his mate bond. "Wow!"

"More like clearing the area. I scattered them around the world on Kyros's orders." Abir says.

"Which means they aren't extinct?" Zade was surprised as to how much he doesn't know.

"No. But I don't know where they are now. I made sure I wouldn't know, so no one else who would want to harm them, would be able to take it out of me." Abir says.

"Why?" Zade couldn't help but ask, "Who would be an enemy to Moon Stone pack. They were so..."

"Quiet and kind? Yeah." Abir completes his sentence, "Only Kyros knows why. Even Luca wanted the same. He was like this from the time Victor came to meet him."

"Why would Victor be behind some inferior wolf pack?" Zade questions.

"You know how the Black Alders are," Abir argues. It was as if that was his closing argument. Everyone knew how the Black Alders were so the conversation stops there.

"It's because of the blood, isn't it?" Zade knows it must be because of it.

"I don't know." Abir shrugs.

"Why was he after Luca's pack then?" Zade questions further.

"I don't know." Abir answers in the same tone as before.

"You have got to know something!" Zade says, frustratingly.

"I don't." Abir is still calm, "I just know that I have to protect what is left of the Blood Stone Pack."

Zade huffs in response. He knows Abir is hiding something more. Victor was already after Inara for her blood and Luca being her mate....

"You said Inara was mated?" Zade tries to put the puzzle together.

"That would explain the mark on her neck," Abir says.

"So, Victor wanted to kill her mate, Luca?" Zade thinks he has got it but Abir thinks otherwise.

"Killing one's mate doesn't make the mark go away, nor the feelings." Abir still replies nonchalantly.

"Then whyyy?" It was Zade now who whines.

"Okay!" Abir shouts in frustration. "Let's get some food in your belly before you start whining horribly. I'll drive next."

He gets out of the car and signals Zade to follow him. He knows a fast food joint nearby which he swears is safe. They order burgers and fries and eat silently. Zade has stopped with his stupid questions. Abir was kind of relieved but also a bit bored. He liked having someone to constantly talk to and now the silence was killing him.

"How did the first war start?" Abir asks to break the silence. He knows Zade wouldn't answer but it would start their bickering again.

"Silver Bow Pack had a treaty with another wolf pack." Zade starts, munching on his fries. It takes Abir by surprise but he leans to listen.

"The Silver Bows had to wed their first Omega to that other pack's first Alpha. Irene was the first Omega. But she fell in love with Damon and fled. The other pack did not retaliate on this fact but the Silver Bows were still furious. Of course, they couldn't touch Irene because she was the Queen Omega and our pack was the authority at that time."

"But once the news of Irene being pregnant reached them, all hell broke on them. It would officially break their treaty with the other pack, bringing in some obvious consequences. So, they declared war against us and wanted to kill Irene's unborn baby," Zade finishes the story after he drinks his coke.

"Do you know who was the pack the Silver Bows had the treaty with?" Zade questions. Abir shakes his head in a no.

"The Black Alders. Victor was to be married to Irene," Abir looks at him with wide eyes.

"Wow!" he exclaims, trying to digest this information along with that burger, "Now I know why you hate Victor."

"I don't. I am more surprised as to why he never retaliated. He never punished the Silver Bows for breaking the treaty. That day I realized how cunning he was. He wasn't after Irene because she or her pack weren't of any use to him." Zade says bitterly. "I had never seen him, only heard about him."

"Victor is pure evil," Abir nods, "But why did you suddenly become so friendly?" he looks at Zade suspiciously. He wasn't the one to talk about his family history just for the sake to pass time.

"Just thought if I was honest with you, you would be too," He winks, getting up and paying the cashier.

"Smart," Abir compliments him as they are walking back to their car, "But I have already told you what I know."

"And I know you haven't," Zade counters.

"You are a persistent one, huh?" Abir smiles, taking the driver's seat.

"Of course," Zade grins, knowing his plan worked, "If I want to know the truth."

Abir starts the engine and steps on the gas, "Okay. Here goes nothing," he starts, "A few weeks before the first war started, Victor came to meet the Blood Stone Pack. He came with the elders of his family, to ask for Inara's hand in marriage."

"What?" Zade's blood boils with anger. "Wasn't she nineteen or something?" he thinks about it with a disgusted expression.

"And Victor was 25. But that wouldn't stop that bastard from getting what he wanted. But once he knew that Inara was in love with someone else..."

"He threatened to kill Luca." Zade concludes.

"Luca was worried about his pack so he asked for Kyros's help. He couldn't as he knew the Silver Bow's declaration of war. He knew Damon would ask for his help too. So, he sent me and Ivory to look after the Moon Stone pack."

"He was never behind her blood to begin with, right?" Zade rolls his fist.

"Yes. He was a little late to know that Inara was already mated. And he lost his mind. What he wanted was to mate with Inara. Being a special wolf, she shares her powers like strength, agility, speed, and self-healing with the one she mates with." Abir takes a sigh. "He knew he couldn't mate Inara if Luca was still alive."

Zade bangs the front of the car in anger. "That's why he never came after Irene. He was busy planning how to get Inara."

"Even if Inara may be the most powerful Omega, she doesn't know how to control her powers. She was nineteen when she went into a coma." Abir says in a pitiful tone.

"I promise to protect her, Abir," Zade assures him calmly.

"Kyros refused to be manipulated by Victor so he refused the marriage proposal too. But after your pack left for the exile, Kyros was all alone. He had to protect his own pack, his sister's mate's pack, and even the Blue Moons. He had so many responsibilities. It was hard, even for a powerful wolf like him."

"You guys could have stayed," Zade says to Abir.

"We wish." He replies with a sigh. "But we had to protect Luca's pack on Kyros's orders."

"Where were the Elders at this time? I mean they jumped on us when we started the war." Zade scoffs at their hypocrisy.

"Victor seemed to have cracked some deal with the Elders before the 2nd war started. There were rumors about the Elder Beta being dead and the Elder Omega being too weak from an illness. But magically, after the 2nd war, they got a new Beta and the Omega healed too." Abir remembers hearing these when he came back after the destruction was over.

"It's strange. How they haven't visited Alaska in six years." Zade also finds it suspicious.
