Throughout Japan, the night was peaceful. Humans sleep to rejuvenate the next day while some yokai are simply life through their existences, albeit being the causes of a number of human deaths.
However while the country is currently serene as the moon shines down, within the Heavens, there is quite the chaotic scene playing out. Kami left and right, arguing over the groundbreaking and quite shocking report they were just given.
That Lord Enma Daiō had plans to make a human his "child" and "representative" in order to bring about chaos all while bringing more souls to Hell with the actions of his chosen "child".
Hachiman, who is the most angry compared to the rest, slammed his fists into his throne. "How could Lord Enma think of something so abhorrent?! If he truly goes along with this plan, then Japan would..." He stopped himself because he could not bring himself to finish his sentence. It was already too painful for him to even think, much less say out loud.
"Japan would fall into pure chaos and humans would be the ones to suffer from it," Raijin finished what Hachiman couldn't say, which made the war god ball up his fists. That revelation alone sent the rest of the kami become restless and air out their concerns.
"We cannot let that happen?!"
"Has Enma finally lost his mind after so many centuries?"
"Clearly, he has! No sane being would think of such a plan!"
"But will it actually work is the question we need to ask ourselves!"
"It just might, which starts an unnecessary problem for Japan!"
Watching everything unfold so quickly, Ninigi looked up at his grandmother, Amaterasu, who maintained her calm demeanor as she did when she delivered the horrific news to her fellow kami. Nothing could shake his grandmother's iron-willed composure. Not even herself, to be quite honest. "Grandmother, what should we do with this information? How do we prevent such a disaster from befall upon our mortals?"
The sun goddess glanced at her grandson and only smiled before turning her attention back on her fellow kami. She simply cleared her throat and the entire room quieted down.
Finally, Amaterasu got a chance to speak once again. "I know you are all worried about the future of the mortals and yokai. I agree that the future that Enma plans to happen cannot happen for our creations and their future descendants. Omoikane, please come forth."
The wisdom kami did as he was told, kneeling in front of the shining kami. "How may I bestow my wisdom to you, Amaterasu?" She gives him a soft smile, "If you would be so kind as to find possible solutions to prevent Lord Enma's plan from coming to fruition."
Without saying a single word, Omoikane simply nodded his head in agreement and began his pondering. The whole room was silent as the gods watched Omoikane ponder on all the possible scenarios and solutions to this problem that they had.
Then, after what felt like an eternity, Omoikane finished with his pondering and presented his one and only solution to the matter. "From all my pondering, I have but one solution that may prove beneficial to us: make a human become a representative of the Heavens in response to Lord Enma."
Amaterasu hummed, "A representative for the Heavens, you say?"
"Yes," the intelligent god confirmed. "This specific human blessed by the Heavens would be what keeps Lord Enma's chosen child at bay, steering them to the path of light. This child's pure soul would counter the darkness that Lord Enma would only encourage to grow within his child."
This made Okuninushi giggle, realizing what Omoikane was implying. "I see. This solution involves these chosen children to fall in love with each other. It would be so that they balance each other out by the time they gain their new powers."
"As expected from an expert of the subject, you are quite correct," Omoikane agreed.
This resulted in the rest of the gods starting imagining what the future would entail should they follow through with this plan, often agreeing that this is the best plan of action that they had at the moment.
Amaterasu lets out a loud and joyous laugh. It has been a while since a meeting made her laugh like this, especially one that started out with such dreadful news. "It would seem that we are all in agreement, then," she proclaimed. "Now the next course of action is to choose which child to bestow our blessings onto once they are old enough."
The kami thought about the possible children they could bless. There were so many to choose from, especially when considering those who came from families that already worshiped them.
Inari hummed before clapping their hands together. "I believe I may know the perfect child for us to bless. Just leave the rest to me, I'll have my foxes deliver the message to them."
With that, the fox god summoned a pure white fox and sent them down to Japan with a message to deliver. The fox, following its master's command, made its way to the estate of the Yamato Family. As expected for this time of night, the estate was not very active.
No matter, it makes the fox's job much easier. It carefully made its way to the master room, where a visibly pregnant Tonomi and her husband Junya were sleeping peacefully. The fox belonging to the divine slowly made its way to the soon to be mother and gently pressed its nose against the crown of her forehead.
That simple nose press granted Tonomi an audience with the divine themselves. "W-Where am I?" She looked around, noticing that she was now in the presence of several gods and gasped in shock. In an instant, Tonomi immediately bowed and greeted the gods, "I greet the immense divine of the Heavens."
"Rise, child," Ameratsu requested, to which Tonomi did just that. "You may be wondering why we have granted you an audience seemingly out of nowhere. The reason being that we have news to tell you regarding your unborn child."
Tonomi, shocked, asked the sun goddess, "Will something unfortunate happen to my unborn child?"
Amaterasu shook her head, "Quite the opposite, my child. The child within your womb shall be blessed by the divine once they reach proper age and will allow Japan to maintain its serenity and even bring about a new beautiful era."
As Amaterasu announced the rather joyous news, the witch couldn't believe her ears. One of her children? Blessed by the divine themselves? To think such an honor would be bestowed upon her family. The news made her cry tears of joy.
"Thank you! I thank you all for this wonderous news!"
"It is our pleasure. Now before I bring about the Sun, please keep this interaction a secret for now. You will know when it is time to tell your child everything." With that last bit of advice, Tonomi woke up with the Sun in her face & tears threatening to roll down her cheeks.
She rubbed her belly and whispered, "My sweet child. I promise you will be a person the divine would be proud to call their own."
