(F/n)'s POV

Before Hanji and I went to Ms. Kataoka's, we stopped at HQ to tell commander Erwin where we were going. Of course Armin didn't come since he had training today.

While on the ride to..well..I'm not so sure where, but wherever Ms. Kataoka lives, I was curious on how Hanji knew this woman. "So Hanji, mind explaining to me how you two met?" I asked her.

"Oh yeah, well when I was in first grade.."

*Flash back*

Hanji's POV (😱)

"Alright students, today we have a scientist from Shiganshina coming today!" The teacher exclaimed. I was so excited, I've always wanted to meet a real life scientist. They were so cool and smart with all their experiments!

"Class, please welcome Mrs. Kataoka!" The teacher smiled, as a young woman walked inside. "Hello children, you can just call me Rani." The woman named Rani smiled.

"Does anyone have any questions?" She asked, sitting down in the front of the room. I immediately raised my hand. "I do!" I grinned. "Yes?" Mrs. Kataoka smiled, pointing to me.

"What kinds of things do you study?" I asked, lowering my arm. "All kinds of things! But I mainly focus on this super rare ability called 'Shielding'." Rani answered.

Another kid beside me raised their arm. "What's shielding?" He asked. "From what I found out, it's a person who can make force fields to protect themselves when endangered. So far there has only been about three people with this ability ever found. But only one of them is still alive." She smiled.

The whole class was in awe, that's an amazing power! 'That would be so cool to meet someone with that power!' I thought to myself. I raised my hand again, "Rani, do you think I could be a great scientist like you someday?" I asked her.

"What's your name, and age?" She asked me. "I'm Hanji Zoë, and I'm seven." I answered. "Well then, Hanji. I think you would be a great scientist! If you start studying a lot of things now, you could probably be one of the smartest scientists known!" She gave me a warm smile.

I blushed a little from the compliment, "Thanks! And I will!" I smiled back.

*End of Flashback*

(F/n)'s POV

"I guess you could say, she was my idol when I was younger." Hanji blushed a little. "Wow, that's pretty cool Hanji." I exclaimed. I looked around at the new setting we were in. "Is this wall Rose?" I asked her.

"Yeah, Ms. Kataoka used to live in Shiganshina before the Titans breached the wall. So now she lives in Rose." Hanji explained. "Wow." I whispered to myself, looking at all the houses by us.

"Can you tell me a little bit about her?" I asked Hanji. "Sure! I heard that her husband left her eighteen years ago after an incident. Not sure what though. And she had a daughter, but there's rumors that she died during birth or went missing after birth." Hanji looked a little sad.

"Oh." Was all I replied with. "Ok, it should just be a few houses over." I heard Hanji say after a few minutes. When we got there, we tied up our horses to a post outside.

We both walked up to the door and Hanji knocked. After a moment, the door opened and revealed a(n) (h/c) haired woman with (o/e/c) (opposite eye color, than yours).

I noticed she was looking at me funny for a moment. "Hello Ms. Kataoka! Lovely seeing you again!" Hanji exclaimed. "Oh Hanji, dear! A pleasure to see you too. Please, do come in." She stepped aside, opening the door wider.

"What's your name, child?" She asked with a soft voice. "Oh, I'm (f/n) (l/n). Nice to meet you ma'am." I grinned, holding out my hand.

"Nice to meet you dear, and you can a call me Rani." She smiled, shaking my hand. 'Is it just me, or is she acting strange? Like she hesitated before replying to me when I told her my name.'

"So what brings you two here?" She asked, as Hanji and I sat at the kitchen table. "Well, we just discovered that (f/n) here has shielding abilities! You still study that, right?" Hanji smiled.

"Yes! I do, I do! That's quite the unique power you have there, (f/n)" Ms. Kataoka was glaring at me now. And she said my name very slowly. What is her deal?

"When did this first happen?" She asked, sitting down across from us. "I think about three days ago." I answered. She nodded, "Oh! Where are my manners? Would you two like some tea?" Rani asked, starting to get up from her seat.

"No thank you, Rani." Hanji and I both said at the same time. Hanji glanced over at me and giggled. "Do you mind if I get a blood sample from you?" Rani asked me.

"For experiments, of course!" She quickly added. 'She's laughing nervously...is there something Hanji isn't telling me? Or is this woman just crazy?'

"Yeah, sure I guess..?" I hesitated. "Ok, follow me!" She exclaimed. I looked over at Hanji but she just gave me a hand signal telling me to go, and that she would stay here.

I honestly felt a little nervous. One, I don't know this lady. And two, she keeps acting strange and I don't know if I want to trust her. "Right this way." She smiled, leading me to a room down a short hallway.

We walked inside of what I would guess, her lab. There were bottles everywhere with strange colored liquids inside. "Sit down here." She pointed to a seat in the corner of the room.

I sat down while she washed her hands and grabbed a syringe out of a drawer. She also grabbed a damp cloth. "Ok, can you take your jacket off and roll up your sleeve?" She asked walking back over to me.

I nodded, and removed my jacket shaking a little. 'Why am I so nervous? If Hanji can trust her then I can.' I rolled up my sleeve and she started to clean off my bicep with a disinfecting liquid.

"What is this?" She pointed to the scar I got three years ago when I got impaled by that stick. "Oh, that happened when the Titan breached Shiganshina." I sighed.

"Oh, so you're a Shiganshina kid?" She asked, continuing to clean my arm. "Yeah." I frowned. "Why the long face?" She raised an eyebrow. "Eh, it's just my parents went missing after the Titans attacked. I haven't seen them since then." I mumbled.

"Hm..that's too bad." She sighed, "Ok, I'm about to get the sample." She warned me before inserting the needle into my arm. "So is this to see if I have the ability running through my blood or something?" I furrowed my brows.

"...Yeah! That's exactly what it's for. How did you know? You must be one smart girl!" She hesitated again. "Um, well I am good friends with Hanji so I guess I pick up a few things from her." I shrugged when she removed the needle from my arm.

After she cleaned up my arm again and bandaged it up, she took me back out to the kitchen where Hanji was sat waiting at the table still. "So when can we see you again? It would be so cool if you could find out how she has this ability!" Hanji exclaimed.

"Two days maybe?" Rani replied. "Ok, sounds good! Well we'll get out of your hair so you can return to your day. It was great seeing you!" Hanji smiled, giving Rani a hug.

"It was nice seeing you too, Hanji. And wonderful meeting you again (f/n)!" Rani smiled at me. 'She whispered something before she said my name..did she say..again..?'

"You too." I grinned, shaking her hand again before Hanji and I both walked back outside and got on our horses. "Hanji, I don't mean to sound rude. But she seemed a little strange around me. Is she always like that?" I asked as we started going back to HQ.

"No, she usually isn't like that. I don't know, maybe she was just surprised to finally meet another person who has the shielding ability." Hanji shrugged. "You got a point there." I replied.

'Still, there's something off about her. I need to find out before something bad could possibly happen.'

When we got back to HQ it was already time for dinner. I walked into the mess hall with Hanji. I didn't really notice her talking on the way there since I was too busy thinking about Ms. Kataoka and her strange actions.

I sat down at the table, totally spaced out in my thoughts. I didn't even realize I was sitting a little close to captain Levi. "(L/n)..?" I heard a voice but I stayed still, thinking.

"(L/n)." The stern voice called again, this time I looked over to see who it was. "Huh..?" I saw captain Levi giving me a weird look. We were shoulder to shoulder and I started blushing. "S-sorry." I muttered, scooting over to the side.

"What's wrong? You've been acting weird." He said. "N-nothing's wrong." I hesitated. He rolled his eyes and continued to drink his tea, holding it by the rim which was a strange yet unique thing I liked about him.

"If only I would have known that you had the shielding ability, I would have kept you! But I guess I can still keep you here." Ms. Kataoka smiled evilly.

"What is that supposed to mean?! What are you talking about?!" I shouted back. I was cuffed down to a table and Ms. Kataoka was trying to experiment on me.

"If you don't struggle, it won't hurt when I cut you open." She chuckled. "I'm not letting you dissect me, you freak!" I shouted again.

It was no use, she stabbed my abdomen with a sharp knife and was laughing mechanically.

I jolted awake from that creepy nightmare. 'Man, Ms. Kataoka is getting to me. Was that just a nightmare or was that a vision?' It was two in the morning so I went to the mess hall to calm myself.

I made myself some tea and sat down at the table. "You sure you're ok?" A voice asked from out of nowhere. I quickly turned around and saw captain Levi walking towards me.

"Oh..hi corporal.." I sighed, looking back down at my tea cup. I saw him sit down next to me from the corner of my eye. "Everything go as planned with the experiment today?" He asked. "Mm..not really. Instead of Hanji luring a Titan to us, a crawler came out of nowhere and almost killed Armin." I answered.

"Wait..you went outside of the walls?" Levi raised his voice a little. "Did Hanji not tell you that? Cause she told us when we were going outside right when we were leaving." I asked. "She said nothing about going outside. I can't have her keep putting others in danger. Especially not the one I care for the most." He muttered something at the end.

"What did you say?" I raised an eyebrow, now looking at him. Seeing him blush. "Nothing. I heard you went to see that Ms. Kata-whatever the hell her name was." He said, changing the subject.

"Ms. Kataoka, and it was kind of..weird. She was acting strange and kept hesitating. She'd give me weird looks and she asked for a blood sample. I'm not even sure if she wanted it for an experiment!" I replied, starting to freak out again.

"Whoa, calm down. Don't worry about it." Levi spoke with a calm and gentle voice. "I guess you're right." I sighed. "Since you're hear, can I ask you something?" I asked him, looking away.

"What is it?" He asked. "Why did you kiss me last week?" I started to blush, but he didn't see since I refused to make eye contact. "Um..well, I don't know. Can I tell you something?" He hesitated.

At this point, I was looking at him straight in the eyes. "I-I kind of-" something cut him off. "SHORTY!!!" We heard the familiar overly excited voice shout. "Shut the hell up, shitty glasses! It's two in the fucking morning!" Levi hissed.

"Sorry, but I was...(f/n)..? Am I interrupting something?" She smirked evilly. "No, nothing was happening. We were just talking." I quickly responded. "Sure, sure." She raised an eyebrow in suspicion.

"I'll leave you two alone." She smiled really wide, slowly walking backwards. Levi looked down, holding his head in his hand. I glanced up at Hanji who was making hand signals. She had one hand shaped as an 'O' and she was poking a finger in and out of the 'O' with her other hand.

I made a disgusted face when I realized what she was trying to say. I mouthed a, 'Hanji! What the hell?!' To her and she started giggling. I sighed and looked at Levi once she left. "What did you want to tell me?" I asked him.

"Tch, never mind." He replied a bit annoyed, then got up and left. 'Thanks a lot Hanji, he was going to tell me something probably very important then you had to ruin it!'

So yeah, I was a little excited and couldn't help but make another chapter today!

It's a long chapter, I know! I'm proud of myself that I've been having ideas for this book, and I'm not sure when I'll update my other Levi X Reader book (If you read it). I don't have any ideas for it at the moment :/
