*1 day later*

(F/n)'s POV

I was finally feeling better after that whole 'force field' ability thing. Or I guess you could call it 'shielding'. Today, Hanji was going to be running some tests on me.

When I got outside, I saw Hanji, Levi, Armin, and Jean. 'Why does the horse have to be here?' I walked over to them and Hanji explained what was going to happen.

"Hello, (f/n)! So Jean here, is going to 'harm' you, and try not to fight back so we can see if it will activate your shield." She smiled. "Ok." I simply replied, glaring at Jean.

She led us to an open field where we could experiment. Jean and I stood a few feet away from each other, while Hanji, Levi, and Armin stayed back pretty far off from us.

"When you two are ready, go ahead and start!" Hanji shouted. We both nodded to her, and Jean got into a fighting stance. 'Maybe he's here because he would most likely harm me and not feel guilty.'

Jean ran up to me, with a sword from his 3DMG. 'This is going to be difficult to force myself not to fight back.' As he got closer, I pinched my eye shut and clenched my hands into fists.

'If this doesn't work and that was a one time thing, then this will for sure hurt!' I opened my eye right when Jean was in front of me, and there was nothing to protect me.

He swung his sword which grazed my right hand a little. "Is everything alright? Your force field isn't working!" Hanji shouted, running towards us. "Everything's fine, and I think it only works when I know it's actual harm and not staged." I answered her.

"That could be possible, how about we have Jean sneak attack you!" She suggested. "I guess we'll do whatever to make this force field work." I replied.

Jean walked somewhere behind me, as I waited for when he was going to strike. About two minutes passed and I was becoming impatient. I know he's supposed to attack when I least expect it, but this is starting to get boring.

Then I sensed a presence behind me. 'It's Jean.' I stayed still, but it was so hard not to turn around and defend myself. Jean attacked me again, but the force field still didn't work.

I saw Hanji pouting in the distance since it wasn't working. "WHY?!" She shouted.

Levi's POV

"Maybe we should try to attack her sometime later when she doesn't expect it. We won't even tell her what we're going to do. It has to work!" Hanji exclaimed. "That is a good idea. But what would we do?" Coconut boy asked.

"We could have something fall off a shelf and hit her head." Hanji laughed. "Tch." Was all I replied with, 'Fucking shitty glasses is trying so hard to kill that girl.'

3rd Person POV

Hanji told (f/n) that she was going to end experiments for today, a few hours ago. But she was actually lying to her. They watched her almost all day, waiting for the right moment to strike.

Hanji was going to have Armin somehow knock over something off a shelf that (f/n) would be under. "Hey (f/n), can you get me a duster. My desk is a little dirty." Hanji asked her.

"Oh, sure thing!" She replied, she walked out of Hanji's office heading towards the cleaning supplies closet. Hanji was secretly following her, along with Levi and Armin.

When she got to the closet, the duster was on the second shelf up out of three. While she was reaching, Armin threw something at the top shelf causing a few spray bottles to fall off.

"Oh crap!" (F/n) shouted, covering her head with her arms. That's when a small (f/c) force field appeared around (f/n), and there was the (f/c) glow under her eyepatch. The bottles bounced off of the force field, landing on the ground.

"YOU DID IT! THE FORCE FIELD APPEARED!" Hanji shouted, startling (f/n) a bit. "You did this on purpose?!" She furrowed her eyebrows and crossed her arms over her chest when the shield disappeared.

"When you were about to be crushed by the Titan, what action did you perform?" Hanji asked her. "I crouched down, covering my head." (F/n) answered. "AHA! THAT'S WHAT TRIGGERS IT I BET!" Hanji shouted.

"You mean, by blocking my head?" She asked. "YUP!" Hanji exclaimed. "But how do you feel?" Hanji added. "Fine. I don't feel exhausted like yesterday." (F/n) answered.

"Well that's good! Probably because your body wasn't used to using that much energy the first time you did it." Hanji replied, walking over to her.

"It obviously only works when you're in harms way, of course." Hanji put a finger to her lip, thinking and examining her.

"Do you think she could have the shield go around another person, when she's near them? Like if she was trying to protect someone?" Armin asked, walking up to them.

"Ooo! Smart thinking, Armin! We can try that tomorrow. But for now (f/n), you should rest for a little since your body is still getting used to all this energy draining." Hanji smiled. "Ok, I'll see you later." (F/n) waved bye to them before going back to her room.

*The next day*

(F/n)'s POV

Hanji said that later today I was going to meet Ms. Kataoka. I was also told that she knew almost everything about my ability since there was another person that was able to do this. But he passed away before Ms. Kataoka was able to find out where the ability comes from.

Right now, I was outside with Hanji and Armin. Today's experiment was to see if I could have the force field go around more than one person. "So where are we going to do this at?" I asked Hanji, who was saddling up her horse.

"Oh, we're going outside of the walls! I thought it would be a great and easier way to trigger your force field." She answered, getting on her horse.

'So that's why we have our 3DMG.' "O-outside the walls..?" I repeated. "That's right! Now get on your horses you two." She smiled. I sighed, 'I can't believe she's taking the risk of possibly getting us killed out there for a test!'

Armin and I both got on our horses and the three of us went to the gate. Hanji shouted to a few Garrison squad members, about opening the gate for us.

When the gate was up, we quickly snapped the reins on our horses and dashed outside. We made it to a field outside of a small forest. Hanji said she would lure a Titan over to Armin and I.

Hanji ran into the forest, while we stayed outside of it. I was told to stay back from Armin if and when the Titan comes. We were also forced to not wear our 3DMG so one of us wouldn't accidentally use it instead of trying to use my power.

Then we felt the ground shake from under us. 'There's a Titan coming. Hopefully it's the one Hanji's bringing back.' I looked over to Armin who seemed to have spotted the Titan.

But it wasn't the one Hanji was bringing. 'Shit! We don't have time to put on our 3DMG!' This Titan was an abnormal, a crawler to be more specific.

Armin was frozen stiff staring at the Titan, with pure horror. I ran towards him and tackled him to the ground.

3rd Person POV

Hanji got out of the forest as fast as she could when she heard Armin's scream. When she got out, she saw the crawler Titan hitting the (f/c) force field that (f/n) was using to protect them.

Inside the shield, (f/n) was on top of Armin, squeezing him really tight while they were still lying on the ground. Hanji used her 3DMG and cut the Titan's nape.

She shouted at the two inside the shield that it was safe now. (F/n)'s force field disappeared and they both got up. "Are you guys ok?" Hanji asked them, worried.

"We're fine." They both answered. "We should go back inside the walls now, since we know you can protect another person inside your force field." Hanji grinned a little, getting on her horse.

They both nodded and also got on their horses, heading back inside of the walls. "Oh and (f/n), we're going to Ms. Kataoka's when we return to the walls." Hanji said, when they were almost back inside. (F/n) nodded and they soon made it back inside the walls.
