Chapter 16: An Unwanted Visitor
"No way! Dean is way hotter than Sam!" Thomas said, scowling at Alex as "Supernatural" was playing on his hospital room's TV.
"No, he's not!" Alex argued, crossing his arms over his chest. "Have you seen Sam's abs?"
Thomas scoffed, holding a Dean plush close to him. "Don't listen to him," he whispered to the plush, stroking its soft head.
Alex growled, fixing his eyes on the screen. "I honestly don't understand how you think that Dean is hotter. It's obviously Sam."
Thomas pouted. "I never said that Sam wasn't good-looking!"
Alex sighed and got up from the hospital room's chair and sat down on Thomas' bed, wrapping his arms around the floofy fellow.
Thomas chuckled quietly and wrapped his arms around Alex also, enjoying the elegance of Sam and Dean.
Right as a new episode started, there was a knock on Thomas' hospital room door.
"Did you invite your friends to visit again?" Thomas asked, raising an eyebrow.
"No..," Alex answered. "I don't know who that is."
"Come in!" Thomas called, pulling the blankets over himself.
A familiar figure slowly walked in.
Thomas felt his heart drop to his feet. He had hoped he would never have to see that figure ever again. But yet, there it was, messing up Thomas' flow.
Eyes narrowed, Thomas and Alex said at the same time, "James..."
James shut the door behind him and looked at Thomas. "Hey...I...I heard what happened...are you okay..?"
"I'd be better if you weren't here..," Thomas mumbled, looking down at his blankets.
"Heh...very funny..," James chuckled dryly, fishing in his pants' pockets for something. "Uh...I brought you something..."
Thomas raised an eyebrow, his eyes meeting James'. "Oh? What is it?"
James pulled a small stuffed animal out of his pocket. It was a cat, and it had big, purple eyes, and it had black stripes along its white body.
Thomas appreciated the gesture a small bit; a smile lined his face as he reached his hands out. "Thanks..."
James handed the stuffed cat to Thomas with a smiliar smile. "You're welcome..."
Alex cut in. "James, why are you here? What's your motive?" he snapped, pulling Thomas close to him.
Thomas nodded. "I was thinking the same thing..."
James sighed. "Well..," he looked from Alex to Thomas, his eyes showing regret and guilt, "I came here to apologize to the both of you."
Alex and Thomas couldn't believe what they were hearing. "Huh?" they asked at the same time. They didn't think James felt sorry for what he did, or that he had a conscience at all.
But, apparently, he did.
"I want to apologize to you guys. It wasn't right for me to make a move on you when you were clearly taken," James said, shifting his gaze to Thomas only. His gaze then moved to Alex. "And I'm sorry for trying to steal your boyfriend away from you."
Thomas and Alex didn't know what to say. Should they forgive James for all the pain he caused? Should they hold a grudge?
So Alex said, "Why? Why would you do that to us?"
Thomas nodded, also curious.
"I...I don't know..," James said. "I loved Thomas ever since we were kids, but I never found the courage to tell him. And...I just ended up deciding to force my love on him...I thought that that was what he was into..."
Thomas shook his head, his floof bouncing as he did so. "No...that is not what I'm into..."
James nodded. "I see that now...and...I was wondering if we could be friends again..?"
Thomas was silent, processing the question. Should he forgive James? What he did was nearly unforgivable and quite scarring. Not to mention, Thomas didn't even know if James' apology was sincere. He glanced over at Alex, trying to figure out what his opinion on the matter was based on his facial expression.
Alex didn't seem to be buying the apology. His eyebrows were knitted, and he had a suspicious frown on his face.
Thomas looked back at James. "I'm...I'm not sure," he finally answered, playing with his blankets awkwardly. "I just...I'm not sure if you deserve a second chance..."
To Thomas' surprise, Alex's voice cut in.
"Well, to be fair, Thomas, you didn't exactly do much to stop James," he said, looking at Thomas. "Yeah, it was a pretty shitty thing for James to try and pull, but the blood of this situation is on your hands too."
Thomas opened his mouth to deny the blame and to pin the situation on James again, but shut it when he realized that Alex was right.
Alex looked over at James. "Listen, James. If I see anything suspicious from you, I'm done with you. If you agree to be a good boy, I think that you can be Thomas' friend again. Hell, maybe even mine, if you really impress me. That is, if Thomas is cool with it."
James looked over at Thomas hopefully. "Please, Tommy?" he squeaked.
Thomas looked at James, then Alex. He wanted to forgive James so badly, since they were such good friends before the incident. They had an unbreakble bond. Nothing could ruin their friendship.
At least, that's what they thought.
Thomas exhaled as he came to his decision. He looked back at James, a soft smile crossing his lips. "I accept your apology, and I would love to be your friends again. But," he said before James could celebrate, "I'm with Alex. If you mess up again, I'm dumping your sorry ass."
"Same for you," Alex said to Thomas, playfully glaring at him.
Thomas rolled his eyes, sighing.
The smile that was on James' face was the biggest smile that Thomas had ever seen. "R-really?! Oh my gosh, thank you! I assure you, Thomas, I will not mess up again!"
"Good," Thomas said, patting the spot on the bed next to him. "Wanna watch some 'Supernatural' with us?" he asked, gesturing to the TV screen that was still playing a 'Supernatural' episode on mute.
James nodded. "Yeah! I love that show!" he exclaimed, sitting down.
Thomas turned the volume on, turning to James afterwards. "Question: Who's hotter? Sam or Dean?"
James answered without hesitation. "Dean."
Thomas turned to Alex with a smug smile on his face.
"Whatever. You two are blind," Alex grumbled, crossing his arms.
Thomas giggled and wrapped an arm around Alex.
And so, the three men watched "Supernatural" until the channel stopped airing episodes.
