The chapter of the dark family, act II: nemesis
Location: Oaksbridge police station
Time and date: 11:30 am, 03/12/20xx
(Before I start this I just wanted to tell ya something important, or else this wouldn't make sense. In this world monsters don't dust immediately after they died! I'll explain the details later)
Ink hurried, as he walked into the station. He was already almost too late, because of all the traffic, so he was relieved when he finally arrived there.
Blue already seemed to wait for him and waved to get the detectives attention. "Wowsers! You made it just in time! Now come! Detective Undyne is already waiting for us!" The smaller skeleton exclaimed. Ink nodded after catching his breath and followed his friend.
"So, what is so important that you need my help for it?" The skeleton with the brown scarf asked. "You've probably heard about this, it's about the serial killer we call 'Nemesis'." Ink looked at him a bit shocked.
Nemesis was a known killer, who always killed in a specific pattern. His victims were all murdered in the first week of a month and, depending on wich day, in a different way. The only thing all of them have in common is a black rose wich is left on or near the body.
The two turned right and Blue opened the door, that was in front of them. "Oh, ya punks are finally here!" A loud voice greeted them. A female. humanoid fish stood inside of the room. She had red hair, that was tied into a ponytail and wore, even if she was a detective and not an officer, a police uniform.
"Hey Undyne! Haven't seen you in a long time!" Ink smiled, entering the room with Blue. "It sure is great ta see ya, but I think we should focus on work for now!" Undyne said, grinning a bit before making a more serious face.
"Did Blue Tell you, why you're here?" She asked sternly. "He told me, that it's because of the Nemesis case." Ink answered. "Yes, that is true, you see we've found more evidence of who the culprit might be... or should I say culprits."
Ink looked at her and Blue confused, so the other skeleton began to explain "You know that Nemesis is always killing his victims in specific way, wich depends on the day it happened?" Ink nodded.
"And do you know what kinds of murder he does?" Ink thought for a bit, but shook his head. "No, I'm also pretty sure, that the police never told the public about how exactly different the murders looked like."
"That is correct, so I'm gonna explain every murder to you." Blue explain. "On Monday's, the victims are tied onto their bed, often naked and probably even raped. The 'Tuesday-victims' are always humans and often hard to identify, because most of their flesh and organs were eaten."
"How do you know that they were eaten?" Ink asked, thinking that what he just heard was highly disturbing. "The kitchen of the victim is always where the crime took place and in addition we've found and still find a bloody plate in the sink whenever it happened." Undyne replied, trying to stay calm. "That's sick..." Ink muttered.
Blue nodded and continued his explanation "The victims that were killed on Wednesday's always had a very high reputation in their job and were all tortured to death. The murders that took place on Thursday's are probably the most painless ones, but also the most mysterious of them all."
Ink looked at Blue very confused. "Well you see, the victims were all forced to take some kind of sleeping drug, but we can't tell what exactly caused the death! Definitely not the drugs, they're pretty harmless." The skeleton with the blue bandanna explained. The skeleton with mismatched eyes nodded.
"On Friday's, the culprit pins his victims onto a wall with scissors and kills them by stabbing a knife into their heart. He also leaves messages with the victims blood, something like 'You didn't deserve him, only I do!' or 'He's mine!'." "Wow... are you sure that 'nemesis' is a fitting name? This sounds more like a yandere to me!" Ink thought loudly, earning a little snicker from the two other detectives.
"Also, have you compared the handwriting yet? That's an important evidence!" He asked. "Of course we did!" Undyne replied "But we weren't able to find a match." The skeleton with a brown scarf nodded and looked at Blue, signaling him, that he could continue.
"The Saturday-victims have in common, that they all are very rich and were killed by poison, but interestingly only a few were robbed. And last but not least, the Sunday-murders. The perpetrator always beats the victim to death, sometimes with a weapon, probably a bat and sometimes even with his own bare hands!" The small skeleton ended with a sigh.
"Now that you know about the murders, let's get back to original topic. The killers behind all this." Undyne said, pulling out two photos. "I want you to look at these photos and tell me what stands out. These photos were both taken on a Monday." Ink took the pics and looked at them.
The first showed a bed on which a humanoid bunny laid. Her clothes were ripped and barely covered her breasts, while the rest of her body was completely naked. Her hands were tied onto the bed frame, just like Blue described it. She had wounds all over her body, the deepest cuts were on her wrists her neck and her belly. As the skeleton studied the injuries, he noticed a black rose, nemesis' trademark, laying on top of her abdomen.
Now the detective inspected the other picture. It looked similar to the other, with a few changes. The victim was human this time and his clothes weren't as ripped as the bunnies. He also only had one cut, right through his throat. The probable biggest change was the fact that he didn't had a black rose on his belly. Instead the male had a white lily and a thistle on top of him.
"So?" Undyne asked a bit impatient. "The first picture has nemesis' signature flower the black rose, while the other has a white lily and a thistle. The second victim has also mich less cuts than the first one." Ink answered, putting the two pictures onto a table.
The fish lady nodded in approval and spoke "When we searched for more evidence in the second case, we also found a note on the victims desk. It only said 'I'm sorry', but that was already enough to prove that the theory, about nemesis being more than one person, was correct. Can you tell me why?"
Ink thought for a bit, until he remembered what Blue said earlier. "The culprit always leaves a message on Friday's right? Does that mean, that the handwriting didn't match?" The skeleton guessed.
"Correct! Your short-term memory is definitely getting better!" Blue exclaimed happily. Ink scratched his head, fake smiling. "You think so?" He asked. "Yeah!"
"Okay, I know that Ink doesn't has the best memory and it's great and all, that he makes progress, but let's just go back to the case for now!" Undyne interrupted their conversation. "We still don't know of how many people 'Nemesis' consists! Another question is, why is one of them showing regret all of the sudden? And why did they change the flowers?"
Ink looked at Blue, when something came into his mind. "I think, I know the answer to the last question. You see, flowers often have a symbolic meaning, I don't exactly know what thistles and white lilies stand for, but I can ask a friend of mine!" He explained.
"Really? Alright! Just don't tell them the truth about, why you want to know that! Every information about this case is top secret!" Undyne told the skeleton with mismatched eyes.

Location: Kurokami shrine

"I'm home!" Lucy yelled, as she entered the shrine. "Sup?" A tall skeleton greeted, from some kind of living room. He wore an orange hoodie and light brown shorts. He also had an cigarette in his mouth.
"Wow, you better watch out, that Life doesn't catch you smoking, Stretch! You know what happened last time!" The female skeleton giggled, making Stretch chuckle as well.
"Oh heya Lu! How was work?" Another voice asked from the door, wich led to the kitchen. It was Geno, who was wearing normal jeans, a white T-shirt and an apron. He had also removed his white eyepatch, revealing some kind of glitch that covered his eye socket.
"It was fine. The only exiting thing that happened is that Julien 'accidentally' spilled a cup of hot coffee right onto Linda's new shirt. That was funny!" Lucy laughed. "Oh yeah, I also invited Ink over, so he can see how Cross is doing!"
"Okay." Geno nodded and went back into the kitchen, Lucy followed. "What are you cooking?" She asked. "Ramen." Was Geno's answer. "Mmmmm! Yummy! I'm gonna go into the garden! Please call me when you finished!" The female skeleton exclaimed and rushed out of the room.
As she entered the indoor garden, Lucy noticed a tall figure watering a few flowers. "Hi Life!" She shouted, waving at the goat monster, wich jumped a bit at first, when relaxed when she realized that it was Lucy.
Life wore a Chihaya, the traditional clothing of a priestess, wich consists of a red Hakama, a Japanese culottes, and a white kimono jacket. "Hello Lucy! How are you today?" She greeted, smiling warmly.
"I'm fine! What about you?" The skeleton replied. "Oh, I feel just as good as always!" The boss monster answered, beginning to water the next few plants.
"Is there anything I can do for you, on this lovely day?" She asked politely. "Oh nothing, I just wanted to tell ya, that Killian is back in town, wich can only mean one thing!" Lucy exclaimed excited.
"Are they gonna film the continuation of this very popular movie, wich had a few scenes here in Kurokami?" Life guessed. "Yup! A certain skeleton even told me, that some of the most important acts are going to take place here!" The female skeleton lowered her voice and continued with a huge grin plastered on her face "He also told me, that the new character that is going to appear, is gonna be portrayed by Reaper and you know what that means!"
Life giggled slightly, knowing exactly, from the last time, that the more famous actors were going to stay in the shrine, since Kurokami had only one hotel, wich was actually more like a B&B and the film crew didn't want to much attention.
"Geno's gonna be very unhappy when he hears about that." The humanoid goat giggled, having Lucy nodding in agreement.
"What are you two talking about?" A voice asked all of the sudden. Lucy jumped, but quickly recognized Cross, who had snuck up behind him. "Eh... nothing?" Was all the female skeleton replied.
"Aren't you supposed to be in bed?" Life asked concerned. "No, it's fine! Geno sent me to get you guys for lunch." Cross asked, with slight annoyance. "Let me guess, the others were not nearby or too lazy?" Lucy giggled. Cross only nodded in response.
"Welp, that's Stretch for ya!" The female said, while walking towards the door that led inside. Cross followed her, not waiting for Life, who stayed a bit longer.
She kneeled down to a thistle bush, since she noticed something, one plant was missing. 'Why would someone do that? Especially since one of the white lilies was cut of too! If I find out who did this, their gonna be sorry!'

Two figures rushed over a large open area, seemingly fleeing from something in this dull world. One was the inky creature, while the other was a young human child. It wore black and white clothes and had mismatched eyes eyes. One pupil was completely blank, while the other was bright red. Their hair was white as well.
The creature turned his head backwards and looked around suspiciously, trying to see in this obscurity.
They increased their speed when something began to move behind them, faster than you could ever image. Suddenly it seemed like the whole ground was moving, but the two companies knew exactly what it was.
They stopped running immediately, as the black goo, wich caused the movements, collected itself in front of them. The child soon realized their mistake, but the slime had already encircled them.
Soon something began to form at the part with the most goo. A skeleton-like creature with four tentacles...
