Ace x Reader

You've been in the world of One Piece for over two months now. After investigating where in the timeline you fell in, you set yourself on a personal mission. What is this mission? To spend as much time as you possibly can with your all-time favorite of the One Piece bishies, Portgas D. Ace. Nothing was going to stop you, not your lack of navigational skills, devil fruit powers or friends in this world and definitely not the protests of the same man you were determined to chase.

You had run into the infamous Fire Fist and his crew of Spade pirates on several occasions already and your insistence to follow him annoyed him to no end. Even if you had saved his narcoleptic ass a time or two. But unknown to him you had gained one friend who was willing to help you upon first meeting them. And so somehow in the middle of the drunken party that Ace had with a certain red-headed emperor you had snuck in and partly due to said emperor's help were able to stow away on Ace's ship.

You had been napping in the storage room when the ship reached land and after a big stretch and yawn snuck behind the group of pirates onto the island. It wasn't too long before you had sighted Ace fighting Jinbe. Five days roll by as you waited in the back of the crowd keeping out of sight as best you could and the fight was finally over in what you considered to barely be a win for Ace. Right on schedule Whitebeard himself appeared asking about "the kid who wanted to take his head." Ace had made a wall of fire to separate Whitebeard from his crew and stupidly tried to take the old man on only to be beaten relatively quickly. But before the fire boy fell to the ground you rushed in like the crazy person you are and grabbed ahold of him, acting as a cushion for him to land on.

"Owowowow. Damn you're heavy."

Ace looked at you bewildered as you lifted him up and gave him a goofy grin in return. The poor boy could swear that you reminded him of Luffy sometimes.

"What the hell are you doing here you crazy girl! I thought I told you not to follow me!"

"And I already told you that was not happening." You chirped.

The two of you then looked at Whitebeard who seemed to be as bewildered as Ace. But soon the giant man was laughing at the sight of you as you continued to grin, unfazed by him.

~the next day~

The ravenette was still sulking by the ship's railing when you found him that morning. Crouching down to his level you slowly reach out and gently touch his shoulder. His angry and confused gaze met your more soothing one.

"Why?" he asked.

"Why what?"

"Why did you follow me for all that time?"

Giving him a slight smirk you hummed as you thought of a good response.

"Because of my dream."

He gave you a confused look.

"Your dream?"

"I'll tell you about it sometime." You leaned forward and pecked him on the forehead leaving the poor boy cherry red. Lost in your own head you wandered into the kitchen where you ran into Thatch and Marco.

"Hey there. I'm (y/n)." You greeted. The two men introduced themselves and the three of you got to talking. Compared to Ace at the moment you were far friendlier and they certainly appreciated the company. But you were going to help Ace along with this and asked if Marco could talk to him to which he slightly reluctantly agreed. Not long after he left an unexpected face strolled in.

"(f/n)?"

"(y/n)!"

Before anymore could be said you were being lifted into a bone crushing hug.

~2 years later~

You couldn't believe two years had already passed since you joined the Whitebeard pirates. And throughout that time the crew had become like a real family to you. Marco and Thatch were like brothers to you much like (f/n) already was before even entering the world of One Piece. But much like before joining, Ace held a special place in your heart. Just even more so than before, as what had started as an obsessive fan-girl crush developed into a real and pure love for the young man.

Now if only you had the courage to tell him! Sure you were a brave girl and had faced many dangers as a member of the crew and had even warmed the captain's heart upon your first meeting. Which though effortless to you was no small feat to most. But when you thought of what Ace probably thought of you, you usually came to the conclusion that he most likely saw you as a sister and any protectiveness he felt would stem from that. And if he did like you the same way you liked him then he probably didn't realize it due to his lack of experience with women in general.

While mulling over these thoughts you went outside to get some fresh air. The night sky looked as though it was filled with diamond dust, the distant balls of gas instantly reminding you of Ace's fire as you gazed upwards. A cold wind hit you and you regretted the light night wear you currently had on as you laid your head on the railing.

"You cold?"

You quickly turned around to see who asked the question only to see Ace in his usual shirtless glory and gave him a small grin.

"Maybe a little."

"What were you doing out here?"

"Just thinking."

He moved closer.

"About what?"

"Many things."

He sighed. "Why are you always so allusive?"

"Why do ask so many questions?"

"Touché."

He soon joined you on the railing and gazed up at the stars as a comfortable silence passed between you.

~a few days later~

You awoke to the news that changed everything. Though you had been uncertain of your actions and the effect they would have in this world, it had been the actions of another which helped you to throw those feelings and doubts right out the fucking window.

(f/n) had messed with the oncoming events and saved Thatch from certain death at the hands of Teach. Granted both men were severely injured after the encounter but at least both of them were alive. But Teach had escaped along with the devil fruit and the attempt at his now former crewmates' lives enraged the Whitebeard pirates. Which meant that despite the different action of Thatch still being alive the reaction of Ace chasing down Teach was the same.

So now here you were in Alabasta hoping to intercept Ace as he meets up with Luffy. But by the time you had found the restaurant where you knew they would be a large crashing along with a large cloud of dust appeared from the back of the building. And despite rushing over to the source you found yourself arriving too late and the place was crawling with marines.

Well then time for plan B.

"Hey Smokey! Over here!"

~Another few weeks later~

After letting yourself get captured by Smoker and embarrassing him with remarks on how nice his ass is the future played out more or less the same as how you remembered. With one exception. You were in Ace's original place.

Which meant that you got the crap kicked out of you and were about to be executed. And as anyone could imagine Whitebeard and his crew were having absolutely none of that. Even Luffy had come to your rescue for some reason. And so it seemed that the Battle of Marineford was unavoidable.

But while Ace had looked on in horror at the chaos you were amazed and in awe. Nothing could compare to seeing this legendary fight from this position. But even more so nothing could compare to seeing Ace fighting his way with all his might to get to you. While the guards weren't looking you had picked the lock on your cuffs and bolted forward. Tumbling slightly you made your way to the edge and jumped off, plummeting toward the ground from the great height of the scaffold and closed your eyes.

You heard the sound of someone thrusting with great force into the air before a warm pair of arms surrounded you, holding you close to an equally warm bare chest.

"Are you fucking crazy!!?"

You only laughed and clung to his neck as the poor boy carried you away towards the Moby Dick to rest though. But before you got there you got to see Thatch and (f/n) find a huge water hose and spray Akainu in the face in order to get Luffy out of harm's way, and Marco and Whitebeard being awesome.

And the perfect moment had arisen soon after. You just could not let this opportunity slip pasted you. Raising a pistol out of the holster of a nearby marine you raised the gun and fired off a round to one side. Ace turned his head and grinned before turning it back towards the ship, as he heard the scream of agony that had apparently come from Teach who was now clutching his shot up knee.

~After the battle~

You had collapsed into unconsciousness as soon as you reached the ship. Ace hadn't left your side the entire time. He held your hand, his head bent down as he failed to hold in his tears. The influence you and (f/n) had may have helped save Ace and Thatch, but it wasn't enough to save Whitebeard. The old man had still died standing, his corpse acting as a symbol of protectiveness of his family, defiance of the world government and of the way which every man should aspire to live his life.

When you finally awoke hours later Ace had fallen asleep with tear stains on his cheeks and still holding your hand. You smiled softly as you moved aside some stray locks of his hair from his face. Slowly and gently you placed a small peck on his forehead.

He began to stir as you moved away. As his vision regained focus and he saw that you were awake he nearly tackled you in a hug and began to cry again.

"I thought I lost you for a moment there! Don't scare me like that!"

"Sorry but I can't make any promises on that one, Ace."

"And why the hell not!"

"Well I was taking a serious gamble when I let myself get captured. Turned out to be worth it for the most part."

He pulled back slightly and tried to glare and at you but it turned into a pout with all the tears.

"And what exactly were you betting on?" he questioned.

"That you would stop chasing after Teach to come rescue me."

He looked bewildered at you.

"Why."

"Ace, even if Teach isn't very strong or skilled with his new devil fruit powers he was conniving enough that he left those scars, on Shanks of all people, without those said powers. There is NO WAY I am letting you go off to fight someone like that, ESPECIALLY when my dream is so dependent on YOU staying alive."

A long silence passed between the two of you before he asked.

"So what IS your dream anyway? It's been years and you still haven't told me."

"Well I think it would be obvious at this point."

Well I want to hear you say it anyway!" he declared before crossing his arms and angrily pouting like a small child.

You laughed at the face he was making before looking away with a slight blush, still smiling.

"I want to live the rest of my life beside the one I fell in love with, you goof."

His eyes were just about to pop out of their sockets and his jaw slammed to the floor. When he regained some of his composure he continued to stare at you in disbelief and you continued to look away, embarrassed by the confession.

"Do you mean that?"

You finally turned back to him again. He was looking down, his hat shielding his eyes from your view.

"Of course I do. Why else would I have risked my life?"

Just then he leaped from his seat and pounced on you, pinning you to the bed as he hovered above you sporting a cheeky grin.

"I love you too!" he said before capturing your lips in a sweet kiss. He swore to himself to never leave your side again after that.
