Welcome to the Real World. It Sucks!
Dropping her begs on the bed Ginny looks around at her bedroom. Everyone had decided to get their own bedrooms, for work purposes. They all knew that two of the rooms would both have a layer of dust covering them at almost all times. They chose to ignore that.
Slowly unpacking her stuff Ginny placed her new broom next to the large window a the back of the house. It's hard to fly out in Grimwald place but she could always apperate. Ginny needed to practice. If she wanted to get anywhere in the quidditch pitch successfully, she had to be good enough for the Holyhead Harpies.
Staring at her audition letter she was slowly filling out, Ginny heard footsteps approaching outside her door and hastily shoved the note into the nearest deal drawer.
Knicking lightly before popping his head in Harry smiled at Ginny.
"Hey!" He grinned hugging her from behind around the waist.
"Hey," she said lightly placing her hands on top of his leaning her head back onto his shoulder.
"What's wrong?" Harry asked tickling her ear with his lips.
"Oh, nothing. It's just, I don't know if I'm ready for this." Ginny answered looking out the window.
"Ready for what?" Harry asked turning her around.
"The real world, Harry." She said resting her head against his shoulder.
"Oh, it's not that bad." Harry answer smiling for her.
"I was just thinking about all the things we have to do. Like pay bills, and feed ourselves buy the things we need for basic human survival. We don't have our parents to provide is with those things. I don't know how to cook! I don't know how to take care of kids!" Ginny cried breaking away from Harry and turning her back.
She put her face in her hands ashamed of her sudden outburst.
Harry walked up to her and pulled her hands down from her face slowly. Lifting her chin with his forefinger, he gave her a nervous smile.
"Hey, it's not that bad." He chucked trying to reassure her. "Ron and I have been doing it for a little over a year now."
"Yeah, " Ginny scoffed rolling her eyes. "And barely surviving." The forming tears in her eyes receded. She looked at him. "Oh, what would I do without you." She sighed wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Oh, I don't know. Keep on living as the same beautiful strong independent woman." Harry said ticking her sides.
Screaming she writhed out if his grip.
"No! Don't!" She yells laughing pointing her finger at Harry.
"I'm gonna get you!" Harry said in a taunting voice walking towards her slowly. She began to back up still facing him trying not to giggle. Suddenly he began to run at her. Screaming she turned around and started to run. Flinging the door open she rushed down the stairs laughing and screaming.
Hair askew she kept looking over her shoulder for the oncoming Potter tickle machine.
Rushing down to the kitchen she rushed for the swinging doorway and bounded in on Ron and Hermione talking softly. She ran toward the hysterically. Still laughing and screaming she grabbed Hermione and hid behind her as Harry rushed in after her.
Stumbling confusedly Hermione tries to twist around and question Ginny, but she has a trio of steel on her shoulders and can barely be understood.
"No!" She screaming giggling, "he's gonna get me!" She fights to get the words pit through her gasps of breath.
"Ginny, would you stop using me as a human shield and tell me what is going on?" Hermione said again trying to twist around and failing.
Harry started to run at her again, trying to maneuver around Hermione Gunny would just scream when he got to close and turn Hermione to face him.
"Can I just state, " Hermione said throwing her arms out trying to get the two to stop. "I am highly uncomfortable being between this!" Hermione looked at Ron for help.
Seeing her chance Ginny cast Hermione aside and ran from the kitchen. Following her quickly Harry swiftly ran after her, right as she exited the kitchen Harry captured him in his arms and threw her over his shoulder.
"Ahhhhhhh! Harry put me down!" Ginny screamed at her boyfriend as he carried her away.
Still walking he switched her to bridal style and ran faster up towards the stairs, about to pass the third-floor living room Ginny snatched Harry's glasses from his face causing him to stumble.
Losing his sight, Harry began to make his way towards the couch through his blurred vision. Grabbing his neck Ginny swung her legs down and ran to the opposite edge of the room, Jarry went to sit on the couch but missed and his butt only hit the edge of the couch before hit fell to the floor laughing.
"Ginny?" He asked, "Any chance I can have those back?"
"I'm not sure." Putting the glasses on her face Ginny pretends to lose all coordination and stumble around the room with her arms flailing everywhere.
"Tripping" over Harry's leg she feels into his lap laughing.
"Oh get off me!" Harry laughed, half lifting her off his lap and a half pushing her off(lightly).
Giggling, Ginny threw her legs over Harrys and grabbed his arm. Pushing his arm back down Ginny placed her chin on his toned forearm and stared up at him through the glasses, shaking with compressed laughter.
Snorting Harry had to look away because the was laughing so much.
"Oh, you're cute!" Harry said looking back at her.
"Oh, I know!" Ginny giggled with perky voice.
Taking the glasses off her face Ginny handed them back to Harry. Taking them thankfully Harry lifted himself up onto the couch and pulled Ginny up with him.
"Feel better?" Harry questioned her.
His two than was resting on her right thigh and his right hand were placed on her waist, holding her close to him. Ginny was sitting on his lap and he left arm wrapped around his neck and was playing with his hair lightly, while her right cliches Harry's hand on her thigh.
"A bit." She smiled squeezing his hand. Leaning back into the crook of his right arm Ginny sighed. "I'm just happy to be with you again." She said smiling.
"I missed you, Ginny," Harry said kissing her cheek.
"I won't be leaving you anytime soon, Harry Potter." Ginny states closing her eyes and just absorbing the moment with Harry.
They probably stayed like that for and your, just sitting there, breathing in each other scents, just appreciating the moment. Ginny heard Harry's breathing starting to get even and heavy.
Smiling slightly she untangled herself from his embrace, needing to go unpack.
Lifting herself slowly as to wake Harry. Ginny kissed his forehead before stalking on silent feet to her room.
She could have sworn she saw him smile in his sleep.
Walking into her room Ginny couldn't help but smile. The boys had tried to fix up the girls rooms before they came to the house. The key word, there was tried. Harry had successfully removed all the spiders and cobwebs from the room. He had painted the dresser, desk, and wardrobe pale blue. The wainscoting on the lower half of the room had been painted a light green and the other parts of the walls were supposed to be white. The peeling wallpaper still rained with it's faded black and blue tried the pattern with almost entirely gone gold trim. The queen sized bed had been given new sheets and a plush green comforter to match the wall. There were supposed to be blue hanging and a new bed frame for the canopy. But, the old, torn, moth-eaten, dark grey ones remained. Along with the old rickety bed frame that was the same ugly, blueish black color as the wallpaper.
Ginny spotted a copy of History of Magic tucked under one foot of the bed to keep it steady. Ginny grinned to herself and made a mental note to make sure Hermione didn't see that.
Ginny stood at the door and tried to organize the room in her head.
When a person would walk in the door would swing I to the four by four nook that jutted out into the hallway.
Then against the wall even with the open door, the bed stood on the opposite end of the room. Then to left against the wall, was the dresser that connected to the wardrobe that didn't have any doors. At the for of the bed were two chairs and a small table. The best was right against the window facing a small green strip. And fence and then the next row of houses.
Within going flipped over her two trunks and unpacked all other clothes into the dresser and hung her robes and dresses in the slim wardrobe. He jacket and the rest of the stuff that could fit into the wardrobe were folded and put into the bottom drawer.
She pushed the wooden bench into the nook behind the door. She finished by placing her few books on the bottom rack of the table by the chairs and her few belongings on to the of the dresser and desk.
The rest of her none clothing items were arriving in boxes tomorrow.
Shaking her head slightly Ginny knew that the boys had enough money to buy all new things for the house, but they were determined to do this themselves without using any money.
Sighing Ginny flopped down onto her bed before quickly getting back and grabbing her slightly crumpled papers from the desk drawer.
Smoothing them out, Ginny unscrewed a bottle of ink and pulled out her new quill.
The application only asked for simple things like her height and weight. She only needed to put down her name and age and how long she'd flown before the present time, but Ginny wanted to make sure she was being thorough if she was going to get on to the Holyhead Harpies Quidditch team.
She was mulling over everything including her nervousness of tryout when she heard her door squeak open.
Hermione walked in without hesitation and peered over Ginny's shoulder. In a futile attempt to hide the paper Ginny slung her arms over it.
Hermione rolled her eyes and looked at Ginny.
"Do you really think you could hide something from me." Snatching the paper Hermine skimmed over it quickly. "Holyhead Harpies," Hermione said nodding. "When were you planning on telling us?"
"When I got on the team," Ginny answered snatch the paperback rolling it up carefully. "If I get in the team," Ginny muttered.
"Oh, Ginny don't be like that," Hermione said. "Come sit." She said sitting down into the chairs inviting Ginny to sit on her own chairs.
"What?" Ginny asked walking over and sitting.
"That wasn't the only secret you've been keeping from me," Hermione said looking at her with disappointment in her eyes.
"What? I don't know what you mean." Ginny said looking at her cocking her head.
Hermione got up locked the door and put a buffer charm on it.
"Of the boys somehow manage to get in, we are talking about a garden party, understand," Hermione said sitting back down looking at Ginny seriously.
"Um, okay," Ginny answered looked at her unsure.
"I-I know you were friends with Malfoy, Ginny," Hermione said quickly looking at her with sad eyes.
"What?!" Ginny scoffed laughing nervously. "That's- that's the talk of a mad person." She said breathing fast and smiling through clenched teeth.
"Ginny, she you see someone levitating two-hundred feet out in open air, you tend to get too curious," Hermione said looking at her. "And she you realize it's your best friend, you want to help get her down. Then when you see it's Malfoy holding her up in the air, you want to curse him." Hermione says getting angered by the second and turning red. "I was about to curse Malfoy when I heard you laugh, you were happy, and so was he. Then he let you down, you didn't run away. You stayed with him. Ginny, I know you were friends." Hermione says looking at her with sad eyes.
Her eyes said, "Why did you lie to me?" Ginny had to look away in shame.
"Then I saw too little Ravenclaw girls run around a corner, so I went to investigate. I saw you chasing after Malfoy into the Room of Requirement." Hermione continued even though it was evident it hurt her to say the words.
"He was drunk," Ginny said quietly, staring at her hands folded in her lap. "When McGonagall removed your scar, that day. I went to get food. He cornered me and asked to be friends. I said no. But he kept looking at me like I said I was going to consider his offer. So one day we talked and I yelled at him to leave me alone. That's when I realized, he was drunk, everything about him reeked of alcohol. So I said yes, at first it was more of a partnership than a friendship. It was hard, keeping him sober, at first. Hermione, he drank because of the
things that he did, he hates himself for what his parents and Voldemort forced him to do. That was the only way he was able to deal with it, I just wanted to help him. Then slowly he stopped drinking, and he still spent time together. We just became friends." Ginny didn't look up, but she was starting to sniffle. "That day, with the Ravenclaws, we had a row. A bad one. He screamed at me for being a fake friend and still seeing him as a death eater. So you don't have to worry about Draco, we haven't spoken since, and I doubt we ever will."
Ginny didn't talk about their love for another. They never had any thoughts about being together. Ginny was completely loyal to Harry, but they had a love that most friends have a hard time finding. And almost no one can keep it. Surprise surprise.
Biting her lip Hermione regretted her words.
"I'm sorry Ginny, I didn't know." She said slowly reaching to touch Ginny's arm.
Yanking it away as if she was burned by Hermione's fingers Ginny looked up her nose red. "I'd you weren't supposed to. And the boy's never will." Ginny looked at Hermione harshly until she nodded.
"Yeah, " standing Hermione held out her hand. "Come on, Dinner is ready."
Ginny looked over her shoulder and saw that dusk had fallen.
"The boys didn't cook? Did they?" She asked in joking apprehension.
But only half joke.
"No, " Hermione answered, "I made some pasta. Impossible to mess up!" She smiled lightly. "But if you want any food you better come down before ton eats it all."
Smiling Gunny wiped her nose before taking Hermione's hand and the two girls walk down together.
