Totally Real Hogwarts Professor Day
"You're taking enough pictures for Mum to have a shrine of grandchildren," Ginny said to Harry who was snapping picture after picture of James who was waddling around the living room with a stuffed peanut in his hands.
"I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't already have one," Harry said. "There's eight of them."
"Almost nine." Ginny sighed shifting uncomfortably under her very pregnant belly.
"How many days is it now?" Harry asked in reference to how late the baby was.
"Three. Should we think of baby names?"
"Why? I like the way we did it last time." Harry said getting up from the floor and sitting next to Ginny.
"I don't think there are any weddings for me to go into labor this time round," Ginny said sarcastically.
"No, I mean drawing the names out of the hat."
"Harry I have a lot of relatives. And if I name one baby after one of my brothers then we're going to have to have five more kids so each brother can have a mini version of themselves."
"Okay, you're right about that," Harry said, sighing. He was quiet for a moment as he stared at all of his old textbooks that Ginny had insisted on using to make the living room look 'vintage'. "Did you know that next week is Hogwarts professor day?"
"Really?" Ginny asked.
"Yeah, maybe we could name the new baby after a professor because of that."
"No, I'll do you one better." Ginny smiled laughing. "If this baby is born on Hogwarts Professor Day then we both have to write names of former professors and put them in the hat."
"What if it's a girl?" Harry asked.
"McGonagall will get a very interesting letter in the morning post."
"A third-generation Potter with the name Minerva." Harry chuckled.
"Do we have to enroll James?" Ginny asked a look of puzzlement overtaking her features. "Into Hogwarts? Or does he just go into the magic book of future students?"
"That exists?"
"Hell if I know."
"We could call Hermione," Harry suggested
"Hermione is pregnant and working. She is probably exhausted. Why are we bothering her on her day off?" Ginny scolded.
"Gin, I remember you before you had James. Believe me, you had enough energy to do all the regular shit that you do normally."
"We really need to stop cursing around him," Ginny said pointing to James who was sitting on his butt clapping and giggling madly at his baby mirror. "He's going to learn the word fuck before he learns how to say food."
"You're right. But why can't we call Hermione?"
"Because she is probably super tired! Just leave her alone!" Ginny said, shuddering.
"I'm gonna call her," Harry said, pulling out his phone.
Ginny groaned in frustration. "Did you hear anything I just said?"
"Shhh," Harry said pointing to the phone at his ear. "It's ringing."
"At least put it on speakerphone." Ginny sighed yanking it away and holding it between them after she turned on the speakerphone.
"The baby?" Hermione asked as soon as she picked up. "Has Ginny gone into labor. Ron and I can be at St. Mungos in like five minutes."
"Wait!" Ron yelled in the background. "Ginny's in labor?"
Ginny held a hand against her mouth to stifle her laughter.
"Hello, Hermione how are you?" Harry said with a spiteful pep. "I'm great thanks for asking."
"So she's not having the baby," Hermione said as she began to talk slower.
"Nope! I'm fat as ever!" Ginny called happily.
"What are you talking about? You have the glow!" Hermione said. They could hear her smile through the phone.
"She's right, love," Harry said kissing Ginny's cheek. "You're gorgeous."
"Did you just call me to rub your happy marriage in my face?"
"What's that supposed to mean?" Ron asked sounding much closer.
"No, we just called to ask-" Harry started and then looked at Ginny confused. "Why did we call?"
"How are you feeling?" Ginny asked quickly.
"Oh, not bad. I'm mostly just tired."
"See I told you!" Ginny shouted pointing at Harry's face.
"Ronald Billius Weasley if you put that phone up to your baby's ear we will hang up, right now," Harry said seriously.
"Merlin, what's your problem?" Ron asked.
"Nothing," Harry said as Ginny smirked. "Hermione just proved Ginny's point."
"You Want to go to lunch today, Hermione?" Ginny asked.
"I can't Gin!" Hermione groaned."I have to write up a proposal. I want to have it done before maternity leave. Sorry!"
"Oh, it's totally fine." Ginny laughed. "I need to feed James soon anyway."
"Okay, but, we need to get together soon, I feel like I haven't seen you ages." Hermione sighed.
"Sounds like a plan. Talk to you soon, love. I'll try to call you if I go into labor."
"You better!"
"Mkay, bye."
"Bye."
Hermione sighed as he hung up the phone. She sat in the freshly painted yellow nursery in the overpriced rocking chair that her mother had insisted on buying for her for when the baby came.
She rubbed her face tiredly as she pulled the stack of papers into her lap.
Ron walked in and kissed her on the forehead. "I don't understand why you insist on working here."
"The room gives me positive energy." Hermione smiled.
Ron nodded before kissing her forehead again.
"Love you." He murmured.
"I love you too," Hermione whispered, giving him a squeeze on the arm.
She looked around at the room and bit back the sudden flood of tears that came to her eyes.
It had been years since Hermione had nightmares. But the past few nights they had come back.
She bit her lip to keep from crying as the dark images that her mind conjured up flashed before her closed eyelids. Hermione didn't remember closing her eyes but they flew open once she realized they were closed.
The nightmares were about her baby. Her unborn baby.
The night before she dreamed there was a storm, the windows to her bedroom shattered letting the cool air blow in. The white curtains were billowing over the baby's cradle. They were wailing. Ron was barricaded from the room and Hermione was paralyzed with fear. But worst of all, Bellatrix stood in her room, holding a dagger over the cradle. Hermione was screaming, Ron was pounding on the door, the wind was howling, Bellatrix was cackling with laughter, and the cries grew shriller.
Bellatrix stopped laughing and mocked a cooing baby before dropping the knife, silencing all. The curtains went limp, but not before there was splatter bright red blood along the hems.
Hermione woke up silently, her heart pounding and she was sweating. Her face was buried in her pillow. She was too afraid to move, to look up. Hermione inched her hand across the bed, feeling for Ron, but when she felt nothing she bolted up. Ron was quietly pacing the room having a whispered conversation on the phone. He looked at Hermione concerned.
"Work," He mouthed before returning to the call.
Her breath was shaking and she ran both of her hands over her face in relief.
Laying back down, Hermione let her tears run into her pillow before she finally fell back into an uneasy slumber.
Hermione tried to black everything while she continued to write her proposal.

A week went by, and Ginny was growing more and more easily agitated. It was seven in the morning. Because in Ginny's words, "' fetuses' hate sleep."
She was eating a piece of toast smeared with mashed banana when Harry came down in his work clothes. He paused when he saw Ginny's meal choice, but just nodded his head and kept moving.
"Keep moving Potter," Ginny said through a mouthful of her food.
"Weasley, through and through," Harry muttered as he went to get his lunch from the fridge.
Ginny burped loudly. "Damn, straight."
"Let me know if this little one decides to pop," Harry said leaning over and kissing Ginny's forehead.
"They seem all too comfortable," Ginny said. "Looks like no Hogwarts professor baby for you." She made a pouty face before cracking into a grin.
"You're so strange." Harry laughed, shaking his head.
"You were the one who proposed."
Harry gave her a look, as to say, 'touche,' and opened the front door.
"I love you!" Ginny screamed before it shut.
"You too!" Harry yelled back.
He shook his head laughing once more just before he apparated to work.
Arriving at the bathroom entrance he waited for Ron. Who rounded the corner a few minutes later.
"A happy Thursday to you." Ron proclaimed tripping his invisible hat.
"Someone's in a good mood."
"I got us a mission!" Ron said happily.
"Really, what happened?"
"I got a call in the middle of the night, and we no longer have to portal Azkaban!"
"How'd you manage that?"
"I'm not gonna tell you! Because I'm mean!"
"That you are." Harry laughed. "Oh, I have to tell you something."
"Too bad," Ron said before entering a stall and flushing himself.
Without skipping a beat Harry hurried behind him and continued talking before Ron could even register his presence.
"Ginny and I made a bet. I totally forgot about it until today, but apparently, if the baby is born today it gets Hogwarts Headmasters names."
"You two are still doing that whole hat thing?"
"You seem unimpressed," Harry said disappointed.
"Yeah, with your luck the baby will be born today," Ron stated.
"You're really a wet blanket, you know that?"
"WOW Harry! That's the craziest thing I've ever heard! Where on earth do you come up with this stuff!" Ron enthused loudly. "Better?"
"Remind me to never speak to you again," Harry said walking towards his office.
"You and I both know that you'll just come crawling back when you need help saving the world!" Ron yelled back. A few people stared but Ron shrugged and went after Harry knowing damn well they had a mission today.
A few hours later Harry's phone rang. He was filling out a form and Ron looked at him when he didn't pick up.
"Ginny's calling you." He said.
"Shit." Harry yelped jumping as he just noticed his vibrating phone. "Hey Gin."
"Where are the towels that we don't really care about? Because I can only find the nice ones." Ginny asked.
"In the hall closet by the upstairs office," Harry answered tiredly, all the concern melting from his face.
"Oh, thank you," Ginny said happily.
"Any particular reason you need rags?" Harry asked, inclined to procrastinate his job.
"Well, I was just having some Braxton Hicks so I got up to get some food. And then my water broke in the kitchen. So, I was just going to clean it up before I drove to the hospital. Because I wouldn't want to ruin our nice floors and-"
"Ginny!" Harry yelled standing up and making Ron jump. "Screw the floors. You married Harry Potter. I'm rich!"
"We know!" Ron said annoyed.
"Don't you dare get in that car. You can't drive. I'll be there in a minute."
Harry hurriedly grabbed his things. "You were right." He said to Ron. "The baby is coming today."
Ron began to fumble with his own phone while Harry sped out of the auror department.
Ginny had just gotten off the phone with her Mom when Harry came tearing in. He grabbed the bag they had packed a week before and ran into the garage. Ginny put James in his play pin and started to walk to the garage when Harry came bustling back in. He grabbed his hand and held her lower back guiding her to the car.
"I'm going to be needing updates!" Mrs. Weasley yelled behind them after letting herself in.
Ginny gave a thumbs up before the door swung closed behind her.
"Honestly Harry I'm not in that much pain," Ginny said as they drove to the hospital.
"Well you're sure as hell having this baby at the hospital, so we're going to be safe instead of sorry."
"It is hysterical, that you can save the world, and fight Voldemort willy nilly but when it comes to childbirth you turn into some blubbering mess." Ginny smiled.
Just then her phone rang. "Hello?" She asked.
"Ginny!" Hermione gasped. "Ron just told me. How are you?"
"I'm fine!" Ginny said scoffing. "I don't understand why everyone is making such a big deal about this. It's not like I haven't done this before."
"Hey, childbirth is childbirth," Hermione said. "Ron and I will be there soon."
"No, no," Ginny said. "You two need to finish work. Once you're off then you guys can come. I'm not going anywhere."
"If you're sure," Hermione said skeptically.
"Positive."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
"Bye."
"Bye."
They hung up for a second time. Harry continued to drive and would glance over at Ginny every few seconds.
"Okay wow." She said, throwing her hands up. "Mhmm. Okay, that hurt." She grimaced and grabbed the handle on her door tightly.
Harry whipped his head looking at Ginny frantically. She let out a long breath.
"That was the worst of them," Ginny said rubbing her stomach.
"You and I both know that you're lying.
"Even if I was, it's not like we can do anything about it. They're only going to get worse from here." Ginny said, grabbing the handle above her head.
"You can stop pretending to be strong," Harry said.
"If I start screaming you're going to swerve all over the road and crash us," Ginny said scoffing. "I will admit my pain once we are safely inside the hospital."
"We're almost there," Harry promised.
Ginny muffed her groan with a fist and pushed her head back into the headrest grimacing.
"It's okay. It's okay!" Harry said gripping the steering wheel tightly. "We're here."
Flying out of the car, Harry and Ginny rushed inside. The lobby was jam-packed. No way to get to the desk.
"You're kidding!" Harry yelled.
"I got this," Ginny said as she pats his forearm. Tilting her head over her shoulder she raised her voice an octave. "OH MY GOODNESS! IS THAT HARRY POTTER?"
The crowd went quiet almost instantly.
Ginny then gasped loudly and grabbed her belly.
"Merlin she's in labor!" A man yelled. "Clear a path."
The scuffed white ceramic floor appeared as people pressed against the wall. A healer came with a wheelchair. Ginny said down and Harry walked beside her as they made their way to a room.
"Sometimes it pays to be famous," Harry said lowly holding out his hand. Ginny gave it a light pat before another real contraction overtook her.
Before either person was able to comprehend anything Ginny was in a gown and all their things were in a labor room.
Ginny's contractions were slowly growing stronger. They had arrived at the hospital at noon and it was now five. Ron and Hermione brought Harry some dinner. Harry was continuously on the phone with Mrs. Weasley giving her updates.
Ginny was constantly trying to adjust herself to subdue the pain. Hermione gave Harry multiple breaks but they weren't long ones. They had Rose with them. Another hour passed.
"It's been six hours!" Ginny gasped. "With James, I was pushing him out once the pain was this bad! I want a healer here. I'm done."
"You can't just quit labor," Ron said.
"You're not the one squeezing something the size of two quaffles out of your dick!" Ginny snapped. "Besides, no uterus, no opinion."
Ron fell silent as a healer walked in. "Hello, Mrs. Potter. Let's check you out."
"Please," Ginny said, leaning her head back.
"Well it looks like you're about four centimeters dilated." The healer said standing. I'll come check back in an hour." The woman walked out.
"I'll come check back in an hour." Ginny mocked her voice high and squeaky. "Ugh! How can it be only four! We've been here for six hours!"
"It takes time Gin." Hermione reminded calmly.
"I just want this baby out of me!"
"I know babe. I know." Hermione sighed rubbing her shoulder. "Listen, I need to go eat real quick, I'll be back in a bit."
"Do you have yo go?" Ginny whined.
"I'm sorry." Hermione grimaced.
"Yeah, I know." Ginny sighed waving her hand dismissively. "Don't take forever."
Hermione smiled before leaving. Ginny's slight grin turned to a scowl as she leaned and massaged her back. Ginny made a sharp inhale and Harry once again rushed to her side. She screamed loudly as the contraction passed.
"That was the worst." She panted once it was over. "seriously-." Her sentence was interrupted by a wave of vomit.
Ginny quickly grabbed the nearest bucket and puked. Harry stood behind her rubbing her back until it passed. By the time she had finished and gulped down a glass of water another contraction came, and the process repeated.
Five more hours passed. Nothing but the slow process of labor. Hermione had to eventually go home to get sleep. Ron refused to leave the waiting room. He would occasionally visit Ginny and take the verbal abuse while Harry took a short break.
"Is this baby my fault too?" He asked in a weak attempt at humor.
Ginny stopped her pained pacing for a moment and looked at him like he was blue.
"What?" She yelled confused and a little angry.
"Well, last time with James you explained that your childbirth was my fault because I sat with Harry on the Hogwarts express when we were eleven." Ron awkwardly explained bouncing on the balls of his feet.
"Get out." Ginny sighed annoyed pointing at the door.
"Yep."Ron nodded and turned to leave quickly.
We waited just outside the door until Harry came back just to make sure if Ginny needed someone he was there.
At exactly eleven-twenty-three, Harry entered the room only to find Ginny on the bed with healers on either side. Harry froze for a moment.
"With or without you, Potter." Ginny groaned. Harry nodded quickly and followed behind them.
They left Ron standing in the doorway with his hands on his head. He stayed there for several minutes. Until he regained his senses and pulled out his phone.
He called Hermione first. She said that it would have to wait till morning. Ron promised to explain why she wasn't there to Ginny and Harry word for word. Then he called his mother. Who said she would get there once he had confirmation that the baby was born.
So Ron waited for an excruciating twenty-five minutes. He found out from the desk where Ginny's post-birth room was. There was a spare armchair where he collapsed from exhaustion. He checked his watch, 12:01 a.m.
"Guess Harry didn't get his professor baby after all," Ron said aloud.
Then from down the hall, he heard. "Two minutes before midnight." It was Ginny.
"A bet's a bet." Harry.
"You're lucky it's another boy," Ginny said as they grew closer.
"A boy, eh?" Ron said as they entered the room.
"Jesus Ron!" Ginny jumped. "Scared the hell out of me."
"Sorry." He said.
"But yeah, another boy," Harry said. Taking the baby as Ginny climbed into bed. It's actually a good thing you're here. We need a master of name choosing."
"No!" Ginny groaned. "We have a professor baby."
Just then Harry pulled out a fedora from the packed bag and put it on the foot of the bed. He then pulled out two slips of paper and pens. He handed one of each to Ginny and kept one to himself.
They each scribbled out a name and put it in the hat.
"Ron?" Ginny asked.
"Yeah," Ron said standing and putting his phone in his pocket after texting his mother.
He picked up the hat with a flourish and spun it around a few times before putting his hand in and plucking out a paper.
Then going slow enough to make Ginny swat his leg, he unfolded it. His mouth formed into a smile. "Albus."
Harry and Ginny both smiled.
Holding her face Ginny graned again. "I just pray he isn't named Albus Albus."
Ron unfolded the other paper and his face fell. Harry noticed, Ginny, did not.
He gulped before continuing. "Severus."
"Snape!" Ginny yelled looking at Harry, her mouth agape.
"I have my reasons." Harry defended.
"They better be good," Ginny said moodily crossing her arms.
