So Help Me God!
"Someone please help!" Harry called to the almost empty lobby of St. Mungos.
Once Ginny said the baby wasn't right Harry didn't hesitate to bring them to the hospital as quickly as he could. Ron and Hermione rushed in quickly behind them.
The healer at the desk stood up and came around to see them.
"This is my wife," Harry explained. "She's due in two weeks. But she said there was something wrong with the baby."
In the few moments that they had been there Harry's face began to glean with sweat. Ginny was squeezing his hand tightly and was leaning on the counter taking shallow breaths. Hermione and Ron stood behind them saying nothing but grasping each other tightly.
The healer leaned over a bit to talk to Ginny. "Ma'am, what does the pain feel like?" She asked calmly.
"Like someone is punching me in the stomach and stabbing me at the same time." Ginny gritted through her teeth.
"Is the pain constant?" The healer questioned again.
"No," Ginny gasped as her pain worsened. "It comes every few minutes. It was easy to ignore most of the wedding. It kept getting worse, but then it got worse when we were dancing. Is my baby okay?" She asked desperately.
"I sure they'll be fine." The healer assured. "But Ma'am, you're in labor."
"L-l-labor?" Ginny asked her voice growing weaker.
"Oh my God," Harry said panic growing in his voice. " She's in labor! We don't have the bag. Or- or-or the clothes, we don't have anything!" Harry was turning around widely his hands were on his head as he panicked.
"HARRY!" Hermione yelled over him. "Calm down. Ron and I will go get anything you need from the house. Right now you need to calm down and stay with Ginny." Hermione hissed the last part as she pointed to Ginny who was now sitting in the wheelchair the Healer had found her.
"Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay, we're good. We're gonna go have a baby. We're good. Yeah, yeah. It's good. Let's do this." Harry said quickly as he walked in a crooked line towards Ginny as he mumbled quickly to himself.
"I think you broke him," Ron said to Hermione.
"Oh my God, I did." Hermione gasped as they watched Ginny and Harry wheel up to the lift. "But we need to go get the stuff from their house if we want to be here when the baby is born."
"We should also phone my Mum and tell her whats happened," Ron added as they walked out.
"We should also change." Hermione laughed as she looked down at her wedding dress.
They quickly entered Ginny and Harry's house. Grabbing the phone from the counter. Dialing the number to the burrow.
"HELLO?" A random voice yelled over the phone causing Hermione to yank the receiver away from her ear.
"Hello," She proceeded calmly. "Could I please speak to Molly or Authur Weasley?" Hermione said politly as she walked up the stairs and began to pack a bag of clothes for Ginny and shoved them into the labor bag that was resting on the bench at the end of their bed.
The phone was filed with a quite buzzing as Hermione waited for a trusted Weasley to sort out the situation.
"Hello?" Mr. Weasley asked from the other line.
"Mr. Weasley!" Hermione exclaimed adjusting the phone against her ear so she could hear better.
"Hermione?" He asked. "Where are you? Why are you calling us?" He sounded confused and was most likely scratching his head.
"We have a situation," Hermione explained. "Ginny's gone into labor. She is with Harry at St. Mungos right now. Ron and I are at their house getting stuff from them and changing. Could you please excuse the guests for us. We want to stay with Ginny."
"Oh for the love of Merlin," Authur muttered on the other line. "Ginny's gone into labor. George!" He yelled. "Get your mother! Ginny's having her baby!"
"Ron and I will be at the hospital. We'll see you there." Hermione said.
"Yes yes. Absolutely." Authur confirmed before hanging up quickly.
Grabbing a pair of Ginny's black leggings Hermione pulled on a soft, army green sweater and combed her hair out into a messy bun on top of her head.
Ron emerged in a pair of dark blue jeans with a saggy butt and a white t-shirt.
"Stupid harry with his tiny legs," Ron muttered in false annoyance as he stuffed a pile of folded clothes for Harry into the bag. "These are the only pants Harry owns that remotely fit me," Ron explained, and they still showed off a considerable amount of ankle.
Pulling on a pair of black sneakers Hermione grabbed the bag and Ron's hand bringing them back to the hospital. Approaching the room Ginny was in they heard screaming from down the hall.
"Holy mother fucking SHIT!" Ginny screamed.
Hermione and Ron's tiptoed in placing the bag on the empty seat. Harry was leaning on the bed letting Ginny squeeze his fingers.
The contraction ended and Ginny threw her head back panting. "I'm dying." She said weakly as she caught her breath.
"You're doing great, Gin." Harry smiled as he released his hand and opened it back and forth mouthing a string of curse words as he pointed at his fingers.
Ron just made his eyes wide and shrugged.
"Hey, babe!" Hermione sighed as she walked over and rubbed Ginny's shoulder. "How are you doing?"
"Fucking amazing!" Ginny sighed as she made jazz hands.
"The healer just left, she said that Ginny was already six centimeters dilated," Harry informed Ron and Hermione.
"Well, considering my contractions started at the wedding and my water broke after you left, six centimeters isn't terrible, right?" Ginny asked looking up at Hermione for confirmation.
"Ginny, you're a fucking rockstar." Hermione smiled as she and ginny slapped their hands together. "But, how are you right now?"
"I'm doing okay," Ginny answered with a small sigh and shoulder shrug. "Best as I can be, I guess. I'm not having a contraction so I'm pre- aHHHHHHHHH!"
Ginny began to scream as she grabbed Hermione's hand fiercely. Breaking into quick breathes as she pushes them in and out with quick puffs of air. "OMIGOD!" She gasped releasing Hermione and falling back on the pillow with new beads of sweat lining her forehead.
"My baby is trying to murder me." Ginny as she looked over at Harry, Ron, and Hermione who were in a line looking at her with a bit of fear in their eyes. "Why didn't anyone tell me it was going to hurt this bad?" She gasped looking at them.
"But didn't you read about it in the books we got?" Hermione questioned.
"I was going to. I read about the pregnancy part, and what to do with the baby, but, I got scared." Ginny admitted sheepishly.
"We should see if my folks are here yet," Ron said to Hermione as he pointed to the halls.
"No, don't leave me," Harry muttered desperately.
"Harry!" Ginny called her breaths growing quicker.
He rushed over and leaned over her. "I'm here babe! I'm right here." Harry assured as he held up his hand for her to take. She grasped it tightly. Harry kissed it gently as Ginny braced for the next wave of contractions.
Ron and Hermione stepped out into the hall with their arms around each other. Making their way back to the lobby, they were met with a room full of redheads in formal wear. Every Weasley and their wife was there. When they saw Ron and Hermione walkout they all swarmed in front of them bouncing with nervous energy.
"How is she?" Mr. Weasley questioned his eyes wide with anticipation.
"The healer said she was six centimeters dilated. She's doing okay, but Ang and Fleur, she could really talk to the both of you. Considering you just had Fred ll and Fleur has had, Victore, Dominique, and Louis last July."
"George, take the baby," Angelina said, as she carefully handed over the sleeping infant to her husband.
"Uh, Flure went back to the house to get our kids and Teddy to sleep," Bill said.
"Oh, shoot," Hermione muttered.
"I'll go." Audrey piped up. "My sisters have had like fifteen babies."
"It's true," Percy confirmed. "She the youngest of six."
"Okay, Ron will come back with an update soon," Hermione said as they all turned and went back down the hall.
As they got closer to the room they could hear Ginny screaming.
"FORTHELOVEOFMERLIN! I NEED TO PUSH RIGHT NOW!" Her voice was shill as she screamed in pain between words. "HARRY FUCKING POTTER, I WILL HAVE YOUR HEAD FOR THIS!" She yelled violently as Hermione and the rest of them entered the room.
"It's okay, Ginny. It's almost over, you're almost there. You're so strong." Harry said sweetly as she paced the angrily in a hunched over position.
"Oh fuck off!" She yelled swatting him away.
Harry looked at Hermione with a plea for help.
"Hey Gin!" Hermione called, "Angie and Audrey are here."
"Thank GOD!" Ginny gasped. "One more man walks in here I'm going to punch a wall." Ginny fumed.
Ron slowly started to back out of the room.
"You're not going anywhere, Ronald!" Ginny snapped. "This!" She said making a big gesture around the room. "Is all your fault!"
"Hey, Ginny, why don't you sit down?" Angelina asked as she placed her hand on the small of Ginny's back and tried to lead her back towards the bed.
"My fault?" Ron asked confused and appalled. "How is this my fault."
"BECAUSE!" Ginny roared ignoring Angie. "If you, hadn't sat with damn Harry, in the damn, train compartment, then, I wouldn't have fallen in damn love with him, and I wouldn't be having this damn baby!" She threw her arms up angrily and began to hobble over the room again.
"Ginny, you should, really sit down." Angelina tried again. "You'll feel a lot better if you do."
"All I want is out of this damn place," Ginny muttered angrily.
"Your bags right there," Audrey said. "What's stopping you?"
"Audrey!" Hermione whispered shrilly. Everyone in the room looked at her like she was crazy. Audrey ignored them at started at Ginny.
"I'm not having my baby outside the hospital." Ginny scoffed after she was silent for a moment.
"Then, sit, the fuck, down," Audrey said hardly pointing back at the bed.
"Okay, God, Mom," Ginny said as she climbed back up onto the cushions.
"Do you want me to go get your mother? 'Cause she's waiting in the lobby." Audrey asked her voice still cold.
This kept Ginny silent for a moment.
"What?" Audrey asked going back to her peppy self. "I've dealt with ten women in labor, I've learned a thing or two. I'll go get you some ice chips." She smiled as she bounced out of the room.
"I'll come with you," Angelina said, clearly afraid to be left alone with Ginny.
"And I thought Hermione was scary." Ron chuckled to Harry as they stood in the back of the room.
"Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God." Ginny panted grabbing a bunch of the paper thing thin sheets in her fist. "HERMIONE!" She screamed.
"I'm here. I'm here." Hermione said, as she rushed over to Ginny and wrapped her arms around her. "Squeeze the living hell out of me."
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Ginny screamed in her ear as the contraction went by. She constricted Hermione's chest as Hermione started coughing as soon as Ginny let go of her. Then Ginny promptly burst into tears.
"Ginny," Hermione said leaning down and looking at her.
"I'm sorry, Harry!" Ginny sobbed. "I shouldn't have said those things to you!"
"No," Harry said walking over and wrapping his arms around her. "You did nothing wrong. You're just in a lot of pain."
"I am in a lot of pain!" Ginny wailed.
"You're doing great, love," Harry said rubbing her back. "Soon enough we'll have our beautiful little baby, and she'll be perfect."
"How do you know it's a girl?" Ginny sniffed.
"Gut feeling." Harry smiled.
"You're wrong," Ginny said back. "It's most definitely a boy.
"We'll see," Harry said in a disbelieving voice. "We'll see."
/*
"It's been three hours!" George groaned sleepily as he checked his watch. "She's only dilated two more centimeters!"
His sports coat was bunched up and supporting his head against the hard wooden arms of the hospital chair. Angelina who sat next to his head, took Fred ll to stay with Flure and the other kids. She also abandoned her dress and was wearing grey sweat pants and an old Gryffindor sweatshirt. Audrey Ron and Hermione were in and out of the waiting room every ten or twenty minutes with an update.
Percy and Charline laid on the floor, sleeping on each other. Mr. Weasley has his arm wrapped around Mrs. Weasley's shoulders, even though his head had fallen back and he was snoring. Mrs. Weasley seemed to be the only attentive person there. Because after a while even Audrey quit and laid down next to Percy.
Harry would come out every once and a while and give Mrs. Weasley the gory details no one else wanted to hear, and then he would rush back to Ginny.
"Harrrrrry!" Ginny whimpered loudly. "I need the potion! Why won't they give me the potion?" She begged. She tilted her cup up to her lips, but when nothing came out she let it clatter to the ground. "And I'm out of ice chips!" She made another whimpering sound before falling back and exhaling deeply.
She let the air whoosh between her lips and she slowly breathed, in, and out.
"Hello, my dear." The healer said as she walked in and snapped on her rubber gloves. "How are you doing?" Her voice was lined with practiced sympathy.
"I can predict when my contractions come. And I also know how to sit in a way so they hurt less." Ginny explained as she let the healer reach below her gown. "Because no one will give me the damn potion!"
"As I have told you before, the baby cannot come until you are at least ten centimeters. You have to be at nine before I even consider giving you anything." The healer said calmly as she disposed of her gloves.
"Well, am I there yet?" Ginny asked perking up. "I've been at eight centimeters for the past two hours!"
"How far apart are her contractions?" The healer asked.
"Four minutes," Harry said looking down at his watch. "But's is only been two."
"I'm going to stay for the next one, see how it is." The healer said placing her fingers on her watch to start a timer.
"Here it comes," Ginny said in a strained voice.
"Ahhhh. ahh, uuungh. Should I push?" She gasped. "IT REALLY FEELS LIKE I NEED TO PUSH!" She yelled breaking out into another series of small screams and groans. She brought her knees to her chest. Her eyes were squeezed tight and her teeth bared.
"Ginny! Listen to me!" The healer yelled over her screaming. "You cannot push!"
"OMIGOD!" Ginny wheezed. "That is so much worse than before! WHY- IS- IT WORSE!" She shrieked opening her eyes in panic.
Before the contraction was even over the healer was putting on new gloves and examining Ginny again."
After a moment, she went over to the far side of the room and began clattering around. "You're almost at ten centimeters! We probably only have a few more contractions before you're ready to deliver this baby." The healer brought over a cup of thick lavender liquid that Ginny downed, with her lips puckered.
Within moments her tension eased and she caught her breath as Harry wiped her forehead.
"Your contractions will keep coming faster. I'm notifying the delivery room now. Mr.Potter I advise you to go update your family, quickly." The healer said before bringing a small white square she extracted from the wall to the tip of her wand.
Harry nodded and sprinted out of the room. "The baby!" He yelled as he entered rattling many people awake. "It's coming!"
"What?" Many people yelled back excitedly and confused.
"We're taking Ginny down to the delivery room any minute now!" Harry explained hurriedly. He was bouncing as he spewed out everything the healer had told him. "This family is going to have a new baby." With that, he rushed back down the hall to see Ginny.
They were a team of healers on either side of Ginny's bed with bars propped up on either side. The wheels were in motion and they were quickly making their way down the hall. Harry had to run to keep up. He grabbed hands with Ginny, who had somehow managed to retie her hair on the top of her head.
She was smiling, but her eyes gleamed with nervousness. "We're going to have a baby." She said as the team of people entered an elevator.
"Yes, we are." Harry smiled as he leaned down as kissed the back of her hand. She kissed his back and gave it a squeeze as they entered a bright room, with fancy lights and an entire corner for cleaning up the baby, and a whole other team for that same purpose.
Another healer in magenta scrubs walked in. He had on a scrub cap and nurses floated around him as the placed gloves and a gown over him. I'm Healer Roland." He introduced himself. "Mr. and Mrs. Potter I assure you than your baby is in excellent hands."
"Thank you," Harry said as the healer sat down at the end of the table.
"Now Ginny, when your-"
"WAIT!" Ginny yelled over the healer. "Harry! Harry where are you?" She was looking around panicked.
"I'm right here," Harry said grabbing both of her hands. She leaned forward and pressed her forehead against his.
"You'll be here?" Ginny whispered to him hurridly.
"Right here," Harry answered back.
"The whole time?"
"The whole time." Harry was calm as he sat back and they both nodded at the healer.
"All right Mrs. Potter. Your next contraction is going to be any second now." The healer said. "All right, on my count, one, two, three!"
Screaming loudly Ginny leaned forward and squeezed Harry's hand with all her might.
Falling back she took heavy breathes as sweat broke out on her forehead and she swallowed air in gulps.
"Well done." The healer supported on her other side.
"The next round is coming, you're doing great!" Healer Roland supported as he looked up for a moment before focusing again.
"Ah- ah- ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" Ginny yelled once more. She seized up and has her jaw clenched.
"You're almost there!" Healer Roland said. "Keep pushing! You've got it!"
Ginny leaned forward, bracing herself.
"Come one Ginny!" Harry said next to her gently. "You're so close and so strong! You've got this! Keep pushing."
"AHHHHHHHH!" Ginny's screaming grew shrilled as she doubled over and leaned forward. She had her eyes squeezed shut and veins in her neck were sticking out. She made a muted pushing sound as she bared her teeth and screamed.
Her screams we then met with a raspy wail of infants.
"You did it!" Harrysaid looking down at her and kissing her forehead sloppily.
"Congrats." The healer said. "It's a boy."
"It- it's a- its a boy!" Harry gasped excitedly as he knelt down to look at his son who was laying on Ginny's chest.
"I told you." Ginny grinned in a tired voice.
"One of the female healers walked over and took the baby from Ginny gently. "Wait where are you taking him?" She gasped bolting upright and then wincing.
"I'm taking him to get cleaned up." The healer replied calmly.
"Don't hurt him!" Ginny yelled ashe walked across the room. "He's just a baby."
Harry grabbed a chair and was sitting on the side of the bed with his chin resting on his and Ginny's enclosed hands.
"He's just a baby," Ginny said to him. "You- you should go over there, make sure that he's okay," Ginny said hurridly pointing towards the baby.
"There people are trained, he's going to be just fine," Harry said.
A wail emitted from the other side of the room. "Why is he crying!?"Ginny yelled trying to get up again. "Why is he crying." Her voice was laced with a protective panic.
"He just wants Mommy." The healer said bringing him back over. "See he's all better now." Once the baby was back in Ginny's arms she noticeably relaxed and was bouncing him and cooing in a soft voice.
"You see him?" Ginny said to the baby. She was pointing up at Harry. "That's your daddy. He loves you and he wants to hold you. And you're not going to cry because he is the best daddy in the whole wide world."
Ginny handed the baby to Harry who lit up with his son in his arms. "Hi, bubby!" Harry said in a sweet voice at the baby who looked up at him in awe.
As Harry rocked him back and forth Ginny was moved to a wheelchair and wheeled back to a post-delivery room. As they walked Harry held the baby and kept looking down at him to make sure he was still smiling.
"You know," Ginny said. "Now that he's here. We still have to name him."
"Oh no," Harry said. "We're never going to agree."
"Which is why I thought ahead." Ginny smiled as they entered the room. "We both write down the name we want on pieces of paper. Whichever one we draw first is his first name."
Ginny climbed up into the bed and Harry sat on the foot of the bed, facing her.
With the baby in one arm. Ginny wrote her name on a white piece of paper and folded it twice. Harry did the same.
"Excuse me." He said to the healer that was bringing in a tray of food for Ginny. "Could you pick one of these papers out of my hand and give it to her?" He asked.
The healer smirked in an odd way for just a second before grabbing a piece of paper and handing it to Ginny's outstretched hand.
Unfolding it Ginny smiled to herself and looked down at the baby. "James," she said. "We have a baby James."
"You wrote down James?" Harry asked, his face was bunched up and he looked as if he was about to cry.
"I've wanted to name our baby James since the day I found out I was pregnant." Ginny smiled. "So, what's his middle name?"
"Sirius." Harry chuckled back.
"My God! We've cursed him forever." Ginny laughed throwing her head back.
"You can't go back on your deal!" Harry laughed in a serious voice.
"Then James Sirius Potter it is." Ginny smiled looking down at her son and smiling.
Handing him the baby Ginny grabbed the food on the tray and ate it ravenously. Sharing a few of her chips with Harry.
"Knock knock," Ron said as he and Hermione walked in.
"It's your Godparents!" Harry cooed down at the baby.
"Hermione slapped her hand over her mouth as tears pricked her eyes."Godparents?" She asked shakily.
"Who else?" Ginny smiled warmly.
"I love you so much!" Hermione yelled mid sob throwing her arms around Ginny.
"You haven't even held him and you're crying?" Ron said smiling is disbelief.
"It has been an eventful day!" Hermione yelled back stubbornly. "And I'm tired!"
"You want to hold him?" Harry asked looking at Ron.
"Me?" Ron asked his voice shocked. "I mean, sure." He held out his arms as Harry gently placed James who was lulling to sleep in them.
"You see?" Hermione whispered to Ginny loudly. "He wants to cry now."
"He's my Godson I can cry if I want." Ron defended.
He bounced the baby up and down for a few minutes before everyone else came walking in.
"You," George said pointing a menacing finger at Ginny, "Are so lucky I love you."
"Um, I just gave birth to a bay. You're going to need to explain." Ginny said tapping her chin.
"It is four in the morning!" Percy said. "Do you know how tired I am!" His voice was a little too loud and James began to fuss in Ron's arms.
"Oh no. Oh no." Ron said in a frighted voice. "Hermione you take him," Ron said hurridly handing James over.
"Yes." Hermione celebrated to herself.
"Everyone," Harry said smiling. "This is James Sirius Potter. Born April seventieth, two-thousand and four, at three-forty-seven a.m. At eight pounds eleven ounces."
"Welcome to the world little guy." Charlie smiled.
