Prior Engagemnt

While Hermione and Ginny went to the kitchen Ron and Harry climb the stairs up to the top floor.

"Do you have it?" Ron asked Harry once he was sure they were out of earshot from the girls.

"What, the ring, or the guts to have the brotherly talk with all of you?"

"I was talking about the ring," Ron said giving Harry a duh look.

"I have it. It's on my desk."

"I can't believe you're proposing to her, you both are only twenty."

"You and Hermione are twenty." Harry defended.

"Am I proposing to Hermione?" Ron asked.

"You know what! I love Ginny, and I want to spend the rest of my life with her."

"I know! I know. All I'm saying is that we get defensive of her. But if she was marrying anyone, I'd want it to be you. And, I thought to propose to her last year when you both were I only nineteen was a little much. Mum would have freaked. But, all the same mate, I'm happy for you." Ron smiled clapping Harry on the shoulder.

"Thanks," Harry said smiling. "Should I wear my Weasley sweater?"

"Absolutely not," Ron swore looking at Harry with his eyes wide. "Just, wear a button up or something." He said.

"Okay." Harry shrugged.

Each walking into their separate bedrooms, Harry changed into a light blue dress shirt, cuffed at the elbows, a dark pair of jeans and black shoes. He attempted to flatten his hair and was unsuccessful.
Then Harry shoved the box deep into his coat pocket. He looked in the mirror and really looked at himself.

Was he ready for this?

Then he and Ron traveled back downstairs to the kitchen with the girls.

Ron was there in a white dress shirt and blue jeans, with brown shoes.
The girls who had already changed, Ginny was in an off white sweater with olive green jeans and dark brown boots. Her hair was straightened and the top half was pinned up.
Hermione wore a soft red shawl over a plain white shirt. She had on a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and white ankle boots. She had her hair up in a ponytail and the ends were curled

Hermione had a green bean casserole resting on her hip. Molly said she didn't have to make anything, but Hermione insisted. So a green bean casserole she made.

They all arrived at the Burrow seconds later each beaming. Ginny was reluctant to have left Draco after such a short meeting. But, as Hermione had reminded her, this was the first happy Thanksgiving she was going to have in two years. Ginny brightened up considerably.

"They're here!" George yelled from the front window the sitting room with Angelina under his arm.

Harry walked towards the house with his arm wrapped around Ginny's shoulders, she was holding him and smiling at something he had whispered in her ear.

Hermione walked in first and (from the help of Ron) got her coat off before carrying the dish to the kitchen.

Mrs. Weasly came out of the kitten beaming. "Happy Thanksgiving my loves!" She yelled holding out her arms. Ginny ran into them and gave her mother that hug and kissed her cheek.

Aurther, Bill and Charlie all raised their eyebrows at Harry, he nodded and placed his hand over the box in his pocket.

They each smiled faintly and looked away.

"Audrey!" Hermione and Ginny called joyously when they spotted her and Percy sitting at the table together.

"Hi girls!" She smiled standing up and giving them both hugs. "We have so much to catch up on. I haven't seen you two since Easter!"

"We do!" Hermione smiled widely. "I got a promotion, for starters."

"You did?" Audrey gasped excitedly.

"Yeah, I work in the Department of Law and Justice."

"Oh, Hermione that is so exciting. You'll do so well in that department. You'd think because we work in the same place, I would see you more."

"But you work directly with Kingsly. I presume that doesn't leave much free time in your schedule." Hermione said with a sympathetic tone.

"I keep forgetting you guys are on a first name basis with the Minister." Audrey laughs facepalming. "What about you Ginny? How is the team doing? You're on the Harpies, right?"

"Yes! And actually, if these next two games go good for us, we should be on our way to the top four in the league."

"I'm so happy for you, I mean, I have only ever kept up with the Harpies, but I swear, that team has changed since you joined." Audrey gushed. "Oh my goodness! I almost forgot!"

"What?" Hermione and Ginny questioned unison.

"Percy and I moved into a flat together!"

"Really!" Ginny gasped excitedly. "That's amazing! I'm so happy for you Audrey!"

"So am I! Oh, that's so sweet. Do you like it?" Hermione asked happily.

"Yes, it is-" Audrey was interrupted but a strangled cry from the living room. They all peered one the counter to see three-year-old Teddy defeating both Harry and Ron in a wrestling match.

Harry waiting in the floor feigning a very dramatic death. Teddy sat on his knees next to the boys giggling madly.

He's going to be a great Dad. Ginny thought as she put her chin in her palm and sighed.

Harry half looked up from his deceased state and smiled at Ginny. She smiled back and laughed a little.

"Teddy!" She called. "Did you kill Harry?" She laughed harder when Teddy looked at the "dead" Harry and his mouth fell open.

"Only a wittle bit." He said holding up his index and thumb apart.

Everyone who was watching the scene play out, burst out in laughter at Teddy's response.

Harry slowed crept his hands up behind Teddy and then giving a roar out he grabbed Teddy's sides and lifted him up into the air.

Screaming with laughter Teddy thrashed around in Harry's grasp.

"Uncle Hawey! Put me down!" He cried.

"Okay, " Harry said. He then pretended to drop Teddy, which made him scream more.

Ginny made her way over to Harry and Teddy. She plucked the little boy with blue hair out from Harry's hands and spun him around in the air before resting him on her hip.

"Hey, no fair!" Harry called standing up. "We were having fun!"

"Yeah, you were also making enough noise for all of Britain to hear." Ginny defended back.

"But he likes me more!" Harry stabbed.

"Oh really?"

"Yeah."

"Teddy? Who do you like more, Aunt Ginny, or Uncle Harry?" Ginny asked looking at Teddy.

"Uncle Hawey," Teddy responded after a moment of thought.

"What?" Ginny sputtered flabbergasted.

"Are you sure about that, Bud?" Harry chuckled walking closer to the two of them. "Because I think Aunt Ginny is pretty great." Harry smiled wrapping his arms around Ginny's waist.

He started to lean in to kiss her but Teddy who was still on Ginny's hip put both of his hands on their cheeks.

"I don't fink so!" He called making a screwed up face.

"Teddy's right." Bill laughed looking at them.

"You don't kiss with a three-year-old right there," Charlie added.

"Besides, dinner is ready," Molly said walking into the living room wiping her hands on her apron.

Everyone made their way to the large table in the middle of the kitchen. There was a large array of chairs, different tablecloths, and plates.

Harry and Ginny sat on the far end across from each other. Hermione was next to Harry and Ron was next to Ginny.

On Harry's side of the table, the order after Hermione went: Audrey, Angelina, Fleur, Victoire, Molly, and Teddy.
Then across the table sat: Aurther, Bill, Charlie, Percy, George, Ron, and Ginny.

The food was passed around, and many people completed the casserole. Molly frowned for a little bit but then smiled. Many of her dishes,a received full marks. This was not a like last Thanksgiving. The house felt warm and everyone was smiling and talking.

"So, Harry, Ron," Charlie called from the other side of the table. "How's the Auror work treating you two?"

"Good," Harry said back. "It's tough, the dementor ban has made shifts longer because we have to patrol the prison. But Ron actually just had a muggle attack case. They had found four muggles in a Leaky Cauldron bedroom unconscious and their bodies were so disfigured from all the magic and torture they had, to be rushed to St. Mungos. They are fine now and have no recollection of the events that took place. Tell them about it, Ron."

"Well, er. I took the records and looked at who had last checked into the room. There were five wizards and two witches who had been in that room recently. I ran a background check and one which and four of the wizards had some shady backgrounds. I had them called in for questioning. Then I called in the others to see if they saw anything abnormal or to see if it was them. A few refused to tell us anything and tried to attack one of our guys, so they are all in holding cells at the Ministry right now, and we're going to pick on Wednesday."

"That's cool." Charlie nodded. "Not as cool as working with Dragons, but cool."

"Oh, Charlie. You're cute." Ginny laughed. "Try playing on a professional Quidditch team some time. Then tell me how cool it is to work with Dragon's."

"Don't get into this Ginny. We are having a nice dinner here. Don't make me ruin it by completely destroying you with my mad facts."

"I'll let you go this once Charles," Ginny said giving him a side eye before bursting out in laughter.

"Victorie, just eat za carrots. Please." Fleur muttered looking at her daughter with desperate eyes. She was trying to get her to eat some mashed carrots, but she kept turning her head and smearing them all over her face.

"Here, darling. Give me that." Bill took the spoon from the Fleur and pointed his wand at it. There were tiny sparkles shooting out of it that made the baby squeal in delight.

He then held it up to her mouth. She took the mouthful of the carrots and ate most of it.

"Vhy must you alvays do zat?" Fleur questioned him rubbing her forehead.

"It works, right?" Bill said kissing her forehead. "You know, I used to do that when Ginny was a baby if she wasn't eating then I would make here food sparkle."

"Is that why here brain is so messed up?" Ron snickered.

"Shut it," George said to him hiding his own smile.

"I can fight my own fights, thank you," Ginny said then pausing for a second she hit him on the back of the head with a smug smile.

Bill smiled and fed Victoire again. "It's doesn't do anything to the food. It just makes it sparkle and then it goes back to normal. Babies just like flashing lights."

Molly didn't speak for most of the dinner. She watched it play out, all her babies are grown up. She held her chest and smiled. They were all so big. It made her bittersweet when she looked at her clock. All the hands were in different places these days. But when she looked at it on the wall, every single hand pointed to The Burrow. Even Fred's, but it still moved occasionally, he liked to stay with his Mum.

Once everyone had eaten their fill Molly and Auther vanished the food from the plates and brought out the pies. While they were being sliced and served people were becoming antsy and kept glancing at Harry.

"I need to use the restroom." He said standing up.

But everyone knew he was just grabbing the ring from his coat pocket.

Angelina and George distracted everyone by flicking whipped cream. George had hit her collarbone. So she scooped the dollop from her pumpkin pie and threw it at his face. It landed on his eye and splattered around his face. He stifled his laugh and wiped it away, then looking directly at Angelina he stuck his finger in his mouth and ate the cream. She just giggled and took a bite her pie.

Harry sat back down at the table and began eating his pie. They were all talking and complementing Molly on the lie as well. So naturally Ginny didn't notice Harry stand and walk over to her side of the table.

He tapped her and she looked at him. He held his hand out. She took it and stood with him. He led her a few feet away from the table and took both of her hands in his. The room grew silent and held it's breathing.

Ginny looked around for a second and then looked at Harry when she felt his hands removed from her own. Next thing she knew he was pulling out a box. As he opened it and was kneeling on one knee.

"She's making the face again." Ron leaned over and whispered to George(see picture at the beginning of the chapter).

"Shut it," George whispered back not removing his eyes from Harry and Ginny.

Ginny regained her breathing and started smiling and making small laughing noises.

"Ginny, " Harry started to say. "Ginny I love you more than anything in this world. And I want to spend the rest of my living days with you. I never want to live a day without waking up and going to sleep without next to me. I want to be your everything, because you're mine. And if you'll have me, I want to be your husband. So Ginny, will you marry me?"

Ginny had tears running down her cheeks, and yet, she could not remember a time she had smiled this much. "Yes." She said smiling and more tears coming from her eyes. "Yes, I love you."

Harry stood and slid the ring on her left ring finger. She smiled and laughed one of the shocked happy laughs.
Then she was kissing him as she had never before, and he was kissing her back, it was blissful oblivion, better than fire whiskey. They were the only real thing in the world.

Them and their love.

They were interrupted when they heard loud sobbing.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Mrs. Wesley sobbed waving her hand. "It's just-" she could finish her sentence, she began to cry again. "I'm sorry, it's happy tears. I'm happy for you two. It's just, oh, you know." She stood up and blew her nose.

"Well, let's not just sit here and cry, they just got engaged! For the love of Merlin!" George cried jumping up and grabbing a bottle of Firewhiskey from the cabinet.

"None for the kids," Aurther said.

"We are all twenty!" Ron defended grabbing himself a glass.

Ginny grabbed and glass for her and Harry. She clinked hers with his and smiled. Ginny brought the glass up to her lips but then stopped.

"Oh my God." She said faintly.

"What? What is it?" Harry asked concerned.

"We're getting married." She smiled.

"Let our lifetime of happiness begin." Harry smiled giving her a hug and kiss on the cheek.

"It already has." Ginny smiled.
