It's Still Happening
Before they are even brushed off and walking Mrs. Weasley's stout figure came bustling out of the house making towards the trio with visible happiness on her face.
"Harry, dear. How are you?" She beamed opening her arms for what Harry knew would be a bone-crushing hug.
"I'm alright. How is everyone?" He said after pulling away from the hug and smiling as genuinely as he could.
"Oh, Harry we are more than fine." Mrs. Weasley scoffed and she grinned once more. "I'm just glad you decided to join us."
"Thank you. I probably won't stay long. I wouldn't want to be a burden." Harry sid tightening the straps of his rucksack on his shoulders.
"Oh nonsense Harry, we're happy to have you." Mrs. Wealsey swatted his arm lightly before making her way towards the house.
"Mum?" Ron cleared his throat and was still standing in the place he was when they arrived.
"Oh!" Mrs. Weasley gasped turning around and clutching her chest. "You gave me a fright. Come inside my loves, we will fix you some breakfast."
"Oh but we already-" Harry started but Ron elbowed his arm.
"Whoever said second breakfast was a bad thing?" He said through clenched teeth as they walked into the house.
They set their things down and Harry and Ron sat at the table while Mrs. Weasley went down to the cellar to get more jam.
"She's still out there. I thought once we left she would stop." Hermione said as she leaned over the sink and peered out the window. She was chewing her lip and her eyes seemed to be tracking something.
"Hermione, you need to accept that it's still happening," Ron said, he was only half paying attention to what Hermione said, but he felt the need to contribute.
"Ron!" Hermione shouted shrilly." She is your little sister. I would expect a bit more sympathy on your part!"
"At least she's not shutting herself in her room." Ron defended snapping back into reality.
"That's better than her working herself exhaustion!" Hermione fought back throwing her arms out in disbelief.
"I'm sorry," Harry interjected shyly. "But what are you talking about?"
"GINNY!" Hermione yelled sounding even more exasperated.
"Why is this such a big deal?" He asked quietly scared of Hermione's wrath.
"She has been acting like this ever since the war and when you didn't come back it just got worse. She hasn't even been using in magic she's is doing everything like a muggle." Hermione explained as she rubbed her temple and took breathes to calm down. "I don't mean to snap, I'm just worried."
Hermione pointed to the counter next to the sink. There laid Ginny's wand. Harry got up and looked out the window. Ginny was in a white tank top, dark blue jeans and dirt-streaked sneakers. Her hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail. She was picking weeds with such speed and strength it looked like she was doing toe touches.
When she looked up towards the window, Harry was at loss for any words.
Her eyes were bloodshot and there were black circles around them from not sleeping. Her skin was sagging off her cheekbones. She looked hollow and empty.
Harry sat back down in shock.
"You see what I mean?" Hermione asked.
"Why? Why is she doing that to herself?" Harry said his voice wobbling.
"Go ask her," Hermione stated.
"What no!! She doesn't want to talk to me." Harry gasped sounding like it was the craziest thing he had ever heard.
"How do you know that you won't even go and talk to her," Hermione said annoyance growing in her voice again.
"My answer is no. And it's not changing." Harry said crossing his arms defiantly.
"Fine. Let her work herself until she drops. Let Ginny becomes shell of the person she used to be. What should I care, no one else seems to give a shit." Hermione said giving up and pretending to lose interest.
After moments of silence and the three sitting around the table brooding Harry's chair scraped against the floor as he got up.
"This doesn't change anything." He said stubbornly as he pointed a finger at Hermione from the door.
She just smirked.
As Harry walked out into the garden Ginny heard a twig snap beneath his foot. She looked up alarmed when she saw her ex-boyfriend she looked back down, ignoring him. She carried her basket of weeds over to the waste bin and dumps them in. Discarding the basket she walks briskly over to the shed. Not making eye contact or looking back.
When Ginny doesn't emerge, Harry walks over to the kitchen window where he is absolutely positive that Hermione and Ron are watching through and throws his arms in the air as to say, "I told you so!!"
It was not until Harry was back inside that Ginny emerged with a garden hose, small hand shovel, potting soil, and a large stack of clay pots.
"See!" Said Harry accusingly, " She didn't come out of the shed until I was back in here!" He slumped back into his chair in a pout.
"From the looks of it, she might have had trouble finding all of that random junk." Said Ron who was still standing and eyeing Ginny through the window.
"Ron, you're not helping me make my point," Harry muttered.
"Whatever." Ron shrugged, he wanted nothing more than to explode at Harry for doing do this to Ginny but restraining himself.
Ron got up and left. Quickly followed by Hermione. Harry wasn't sure if she were going to yell at him or comfort him. But, at the moment, Harry could care less about Ron's feelings.
Harry sat gazing out the window watching Ginny until he couldn't take it any longer.
"She hasn't eaten all, day," Harry told himself.
Making sure his wand was in his pocket Harry stepped back outside and did the most Harry thing he could have done.
