A Weasley's Easter of 2006

"Mama!"

"I know baby! I'm coming." Ginny shouted as she walked down the hall to James' room.

When she walked in he was standing and holding the bars of his crib while he shouted for his parents.

"Mama!" He squealed excitedly when he saw Ginny entered the room.

"Oh, my sweet boy." Ginny smiled living him out of his crib and placing him on her hip. "Do you know what time it is?"

James stuck his fingers in his mouth before shaking his head.

"It's seven in the morning love!" Ginny said tickling his stomach as they walked back to her room. "You're driving mommy crazy!" She squealed laughing.

James laughed sweetly.

"You wanna go wake up Daddy?" Ginny asked bouncing him on her hip.

"Dada!" James yelled in response!

"Okay!" Ginny smiled mischievously. "Let's go." She walked into their dark room where Harry was stretched out on the now-empty bed.

"Shhh." Ginny smiled placing her finger on her lips.

James smiled widely and put his finger over his mouth.

Ginny sat on the bed and let James go. He squealed excitedly and jumped onto Harry.

"Oof!" Harry grunted from the sudden impact.

James laughed as he fell off of Harry's back and into the soft comforter. Harry flipped to his side so he was facing a still giggling James and Ginny who was smiling and sitting with her legs crossed.

"Hey, bub!" Harry smiled affectionately down at his son. He looked up at Ginny who was on the other side and smiled.

"Morning love." He smiled pushing on his glasses.

"Morning." Ginny murmured as she leaned in for a kiss.

Meeting her sweetly Harry and Ginny stayed there for a second before pulling away.

"Happy Easter!" Harry smiled warmly.

"And to you." Ginny smiled. The monitor on her bedside table cackled with Albus babbling to himself. "I'm going to go get Albus and then we can all go downstairs."

"Sounds good," Harry said as Ginny stood. "Hey, James!" He yelled. "It's Easter!"

Then making a housing sound he picked James up and threw him in the air before catching him. James laughed with delight while Harry ran around the room pretending that his son was a plane.

He then ran out into the hall and met Ginny who was holding eight-month-old Albus in her arms.

"Those baskets aren't going to find themselves," Ginny said as they began to go towards the stairs.

They reached the top of the staircase and Harry went to pick James back up. He had been walking.

"No!" James yelled. "Me." He said stubbornly.

"Those are hardwood stairs," Ginny said nervously as James began to slowly descend.

"He can do it," Harry said following James closing with his hands out ready to catch James.

"I have no doubt," Ginny said. "It's just whether he gets down on his feet or he slips and bangs his head on every step till he hits the floor."

"Relax, Gin. I'm right here to catch him." Harry said.

Ginny sighed before following.

Once they finally reached the floor Ginny set Albus down on the floor and James ran into the living room. There was a blue minicar that James could drive. And a Bumboo for Albus.

Because a few weeks prior Harry and Ron drank a little too much and saw a spider on the old one. So while they stood on the coffee table screaming like eight-year-old girls as they shot incinerating spells until the spider died. Long story short, they needed a new seat for Albus.

Ginny had previously hidden four Easter baskets around the house with sweets in them. They would go for an Easter Egg Hunt later in the day with the rest of the family at the Burrow.

With help from James, the baskets were found quickly. Because he would run around until he found a basket, then he would yell, "Mine?" waiting for a yes or no.

Once there were all found everyone sat in the living room to open them.

There were candies and a small gift. Albus got a new toy. It was a teething ring. James got a golden snitch.

"Harry he sticks literally everything in his mouth." Ginny groaned as the snitch zipped around James' head. "He's going to chip a tooth on that!"

"Relax, love," Harry said snatching it out of the air easily. "It's made of rubber. I enchanted it." Then squeezing it the snitch flattened.

Ginny groaned and face planted down into Harry's leg. Harry laughed stroking her hair.

"You've still got to open yours." He said.

Ginny sat up and took her basket into her lap. It was a small box wrapped in tissue paper.

"Oh my goodness!" Ginny yelled. "Harry Potter you spoil me!"

"It's nothing." Harry smiled, pleased with her reaction.

They were silver earrings with emerald jewels.

"I'm going to wear them to my parents." She smiled delicately placing the box back in the basket. "Open yours!"

Harry picked up his own gift. It was large and flat.

"It's the picture from Halloween!" He smiled.

"I know you don't have that many pictures at the office so I wanted to give you one." Ginny smiled.

The picture was the three of them as quidditch players. Ginny was in Holyhead Harpies jerseys and had a little jersey pinned over her stomach. Harry wore his old Gryffindor jersey. Mrs. Weasley made a costume for James that had James Potter Senior's old number on it.

"I love it." Harry smiled.

"Mum wants us at the house by eleven," Ginny said. "I need to feed Albus, can you make breakfast."

"Of course!" Harry said.

"I love you." Ginny sighed. She kissed his cheek before standing up.

She picked up Albus and was walking towards the stairs when the phone rang.

"Harry." She yelled. "Can you get that?"

"I would," Harry said. "But I have raw egg all over my hands."

Ginny grumbled and went to pick up the phone. "Hello? Oh, hello Ronald."

"Who is it?" Harry asked.

"Ron," Ginny said her face twisted like she stuck her nose in something foul-smelling.

"Oh," Harry chucked. "For a moment there I thought it was someone important."

"Ron's offended," Ginny said sniggering.

"Anyway, why did you call?" She asked. "Eleven, yeah. Okay, now because you called you have to give Hermione the phone so we can talk."

"Thanks, Ronniekins! See you at Mum's."

"Hey Gin," Hermione said through the phone.

"Hermione! I miss you!" Ginny pouted.

"You're going to see me in a few hours." Hermione laughed.

"It's been too long!" Ginny exclaimed. "Anyway, what did Ron get you?"

"There is a giant easter egg in the living room and he won't let me open it," Hermione said.

"How big?"

"Like two feet wide and three feet tall." Hermione, she sounded like she was thinking.

"Is your baby in the egg?" Ginny asked.

"Why is that a reasonable question for you to ask." Hermione laughed groaning. "And no, Rose is asleep on my lap right now."

"Ugh I wish, Albus is sucking my boob raw," Ginny whined.

"That's a lovely image," Hermione said sarcastically. She then shrieked loudly. "It moved!" She screamed.

"What moved?"

"The egg! The giant egg moved! RONALD BILLUS WEASLEY DID YOU PUT SOMETHING LIVING IN THAT EGG!" Hermione screeched causing Ginny to pull the phone away from her face.

"Oh no no no!" Hermione groaned. "Go back to sleep. Mommy's sorry for yelling. Go back to sleep, go back to sleep." She whispered frantically.

"Hermione," Ginny asked slowly. "Are you all right."

"Ron, you open that egg right now!" Hermione demanded. "Oh my god! It's a cat!" Hermione exclaimed to Ginny. "He got me a cat!"

"Congratulations?" Ginny said confused.

"Ginny, I got to go!" Hermione said rushed. "See you at The Burrow." Then before Ginny had time to respond the line clicked.

"OH MY GOD! RON!" Hermione squealed jumping into her husband's arms.

Ron caught her and held her close. Hermione wrapped her legs around his torso and looked down at him affectionately. He pulled her into a soft kiss.

"I love you," Hermione said once they broke apart wrapping her arms around his neck.

"I love you too," Ron said lowering her down.

"Do they have a name?" Hermione asked sitting down on the floor and pulling the cat into her lap.

"Yeah," Ron said holding Rose in his lap and sitting down next to Hermione. "His name is Perdido."

"I love him." Hermione gasped stoking the cat in her lap.

He was a black and white cat with short hair and bright blue eyes.

"I think Rosie likes him too." Ron chuckled as Rose gazed at him transfixed.

"My fur baby." Hermione cooed holding the cat to her chest cradling it.

•••••••••••••

"If you don't hurry up we're going to be late!" Ron shouted from the front door.

He had Rose resting his arms and the diaper bag slung over his shoulder.

Rose was in a dark blue romper yellow shoes and had in a bucket hat with a yellow sunflower pattern covering it. Ron was wearing dark blue jeans and a green button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows.

"I'm coming!" Hermione said hobbling out of the bathroom as she pulled on her sandal. She was wearing a dark blue romper with thin straps and the fabric gathered at her collar bone. There was a waistband with a bow tied in the front. She pulled on some dark brown strappy sandals. Hermione's hair was gathered in a graceful top knot and had hairs out to frame her face.

"I was wondering what the hat was about," Ron said looking from Hermione's outfit to Rose's.

"We match!" Hermione exclaimed happily.

"I see that!" Ron chortled. "Shall we?"

"Gimme!" Hermione smiled holding her arms out for the baby. She pecked Ron on the lips while they passed Rose.

Then clasping hands they appeared to the Burrow's front garden. Rose whined uncomfortably for a few moments before sticking her fingers in her mouth.

Mrs. Weasley rushed out of the house to greet them by the door. "Hello, dears! Hello Rosie!"

"Hey, Mum." Ron smiled hugging his mother.

"Hi, Mrs. Weasley!" Hermione grinned Hugging the plump woman around Rose who was still in her arms. "Are we the first here?"

"Yes!" Mrs. Weasley said as they walked inside. "You two, Ginny and Harry are the only ones that can still apperate when you have the kids with you."

"And knowing Harry and Ginny they're always late." Ron finished putting the diaper bag down next to the couch.

"Rude." Someone scoffed from behind him. Ginny was standing in the doorway staring daggers at her brother.

"Someone should put a bell on you." Ron shot back clutching his chest.

Ginny put was holding Albus on her hip as James zipped passed her and ran for his grandmother.

Harry walked in behind her carrying an even larger bag than the one Hermione and Ron brought.

"Oh, so it was planned," Harry said nodding between Hermione and Ginny's outfits.

"They look nothing alike," Ginny said.

"But they're both rompers," Hermione added.

Ginny was wearing a romper with a white top covered in lace. Then the bottom was a blush pink covered in black and white lily's. Then the thin white straps wen over her shoulders to a large tie in the back made of the same material of the bottom. Her hair was pulled into a ponytail at the bottom side of her head, it was curled into soft waves. She paired the outfit with white sandals that wrapped around the base of her ankle.

"We had the same idea with the kids too," Ginny said gesturing to Hermione's and Rose's matching outfits.

She then pointed to James who was wearing blue pants and a pink shirt. Then to Albus who had on a grey shirt, brown pants and a white hat.

"Harry," Ron said suppressing his laugh. "You're son's wearing pink."

"You wore pink at your wedding!"

"Touche," Ron nodded. "Bute 'Mione told me too."

"He's two."

"Real men wear pink, Ronald," Ginny said in a menacing tone.

"I feel attacked," Ron said.

"Good." Ginny nodded.

The rumbling of a car against the dirt road sound and everyone gathered around the front window.

"That's a ministry car." Hermione pointed out.

"Oh, then it must be Percy and Audrey." Mrs. Weasley said setting down the tray of lemonade she was carrying.

The car stopped and out stepped Percy, Audrey, Molly the second, and Lucy. They walked in. Molly Jr. ran in happily. She too was wearing a romper. It what white and blue with a tie-dye pattern. Audrey walked in holding Lucy's hand. Lucy was wearing a black top with large brown buttons sewn up the middle and a pair of white shorts.

Audrey walked in smiling brightly. She had on a purple floral patterned romper with large sleeves and the top was sinched at the neck. Percy was wearing a plain white button-up shirt and jeans.

"Hello!" Mrs. Wealsey cheered hugging them each.

"Hi, Mum." Percy smiled hugging her. Molly Jr. and Lucy clung to their grandmother's legs giggling madly.

"You look good!" Ginny exclaimed giving Audrey a tight hug. "Wait, turn around."

Audrey obliged and turned around. The back of her romper was open.

"You did not have two kids!" Hermione yelled.

Audrey blushed and gave Hermione a hug. "Believe me, heels were not this terrible before I had children."

Audrey was wearing a pair of platform heels with thick white straps crisscrossing over the tops of her feet. Her hair was curled and she was wearing a white headband with little white flowers on it.

The hearth roared with green flames and out lept George. "Hate doing that." He muttered coughing.

Then his daughter Roxanne stumbled out behind him and fell onto her rear.

"Mummy's mad at you." She said standing up.

George grimaced a look of realization crossing his face. "C'mere Roxy." He said helping her brush off the soot.

The fireplace lept with green again and out came Angelina with Fred Jr. clutched close to her chest.

"George Weasley!" She yelled. "Roxanne is three! You were supposed to go with her!"

"I forgot," George said sheepishly.

Angelina scoffed. "You have ash on your face." She said licking her thumb and rubbing it off his cheek.

"Thanks love." George smiled in a sing-song voice. He leaned down to give her a kiss but she pushed him away.

"Oh get off me." She scoffed.

There was a gated area in the living room with toys and currently Albus and Rose sat happily playing with plastic cups. Fred Jr. saw James sitting between Harry and Ron and pushed as for his mother to let him down.

Roxanne who was wearing a pink and white plaid romper with a big bow tied at the front of the waist had marched over to her aunts and was currently admiring the many ring's Ginny was wearing.

"Where'd you get this one?" she asked pointing to Ginny's engagement ring.

"Ask him," Ginny answered pointing towards Harry.

Angelina walked over and Hermione held her at arm's length. "Ugh, you're so pretty." She whined pulling Angie into a tight hug.

"I can't believe you remembered," Audrey said indicating to her outfit.

"The rompers were my idea!" Angelina laughed swatting her arm lightly.

Angelina was wearing a marron romper with white polka dots and brown buttons down the front with a bow tied at the waist. She wore white sneakers and her hair was braided into two braids that laid flatly on her head.

A hearty laugh came from where Harry, Ron, George, and Percy were sitting.

"Who are we waiting on?" Ron asked.

"Bill." George and Ginny said together.

"Charlie not coming then?" Percy asked.

"He couldn't get away from work." Mr. Weasley answered.

The hearth roared and everyone jumped out of the way. In an assembly line out came, Victore, and then Bill who was carrying Dominque, and then Fure who had Louis clutched to her chest.

"Don't get used to apperating," Bill said as he brushed off. He looked at Ginny and Harry. "James turns three soon, right?"

"In a year or so," Harry answered.

"Well, soon enough you're going to have to use the floo network to get anywhere."

Fleur rolled her eyes and sat Louis down with Albus and Rosie. Victore was strutting around for her cheering aunts as they admired her white button-up shirt with brown buttons. Her yellow and white plaid skirt with a bow in the front.

"She kinda matches Lucy," Audrey commented.

"We had an outfit for her zat matched Dominque's but she refused," Fleur said.

Dominque was wearing a cold shoulder romper with yellow flowers and green stems. She was trying to catch up with James and Fred Jr. who kept running away from her.

"Do you really have to be part veela?" Ginny whined gesturing to Fleur.

She was wearing a periwinkle romper it rested off her shoulders and had lace for sleeves that cinched at the wrist. There was also a thin tie at her waist. Her glimmering sheet of blonde hair was straight with two thin braids on the crown of her head. She wore simple blue flats.

"Ginny you flatter me." She smiled.

"Isn't there an easter egg hunt to he had?" Mrs. Weasley said resting her hands on her waist. All the children perked up. She flicked her wand and ten whicker baskets appeared.

After an hour or so of searching the house and garden, most of the candy-filled eggs had been found, although Mr. Weasley swore there were more.

The adults sat around the kitchen talking. Rose was sitting in Mrs. Wealsey's lap and Albus was sleeping on Ginny's chest.

"Mrs. Weasley?" Harry asked.

"Oh Harry, Hermione." said looking at them. "You've been part of the family for a long time now, you can call Aurther and me by our names. There is no need to be so formal." She smiled.

"I don't think you understand how much we cannot do that," Hermione said seriously.

"It's not that we don't love you!" Harry added hastily. "You've just been Mrs. Weasley for almost sixteen years now. It has nothing to with anything but the fact that you've been Mrs. Weasley for so long."

Hermione nodded vigorously agreeing with Harry.

"Oh, all right, Harry dear what was it that you needed?"

"Oh, just a washcloth, James has candy all over his face," Harry said.

Mrs. Wealsey handed him one and Harry proceeded to chase James around the house, before remembering that he was a wizard, so he placed a charm on James causing him to slow down. Harry then wiped his face and released James who kept running around at a normal speed as if nothing had happened.

Hours passed and the sky began to darken. Mrs. Weasley announced dinner. Magically, high chairs and booster seats were conjured along with trays for all the children. Ginny set to work cutting up some of the food and placing it on both James' and Albus' trays.

"Fleur?" Ginny asked. "Do you teach Victore on your own, or have you sent her to a primary school?"

"Well, I only work part-time and when I'm not working I teach her and when I am my mother teaches her. Bill and I found it too dangerous to send her to primary school considering she grew up around so much magic. We wouldn't want anything unusual to slip."

"Why do you ask?" Bill said looking up from his potatoes.

"Because that means I will most likely be teaching my kids," Ginny said taking a few bites of her own food before going back to feeding Albus.

"It's not all bad." Mrs. Weasley said. "I taught all of you."

"That's true," George said. "And we all turned out just fine."

Percy snorted into his cup but didn't say anything.

"I never thought about that!" Hermione said looking at Rose.

"That's a first." Harry scoffed. He flinched away as Hermione swatted his head.

"But I always wanted to send Rose to the primary school that I went to," Hermione said crestfallen.

"Technically you still could," said Percy. "You would just have to raise her like a muggle."

"Nope!" said Ron immediately. "I refuse to send out daughter to Hogwarts with no knowledge of where she's come from. Do you remember Harry in the first year?"

"Hey!" Harry yelled.

"Clueless!" Ron continued.

"What are you gonna do?" Angelina asked Audrey. "You and Percy both work full time. Who's gonna teach Molly and Lucy?"

"Well, um, actually, the ministry has a primary school for wizards and witches who work full time. Whether it for the ministry or not. If they can validate that they have a full-time job within the wizarding community the could send their kids there."

Hermione looked ecstatic. Angelina and Ginny frowned at each other. Angelina helped run the shop but she mostly just handled the finances, so wasn't paid for what she did, the money that would pay her went towards their house and her family.

"Gin," Angelina said perking up. "We could teach our kids together!"

"We could!" Ginny gasped.

They went into a happy rant planning how they would run a school when three children all yawned one after the other.

"Galloping gargoyle's look at the time!" Mr. Weasley said.

Everyone checked a clock and it read a quarter past nine. Everyone hastened to pack a leave. Many of the children had already fallen asleep in their chairs and were startled awake by their parents lifting them out. The goodbyes were said quickly and soon only Ron and Hermione remained.

"I don't feel like apperating." Hermione yawned as she snuggled close to Ron.

"Mum?" Ron asked. "Is it alright if we sleep here tonight."

"Of course dear!" Mrs. Weaslery said. "I'll go set up Percy's old room. There is a crib in there for Rose."

She hurried away up the stairs. Hermione took Rose out of her high chair and held her close to her chest.

"Ron," Hermione whispered as they both sat lazily. "I want another baby."

"Really," Ron said surprised. "I thought I was the only one."

Hermione laughed and kissed him softly on the cheek. "I love you."

"I love you more," Ron answered. "C'mon, let's get her upstairs so she can sleep."

They quietly ambled up the staircase into the almost unrecognizable room. There was a plush bed with a marron comforter. And a beautiful crib laid with yellow sheets sat at the foot of the bed.

"I've brought in some clothes from your old room, Ron," Mrs. Weasley said opening the closet with her wand. "There should also be some clothes from Ginny's old room for you Hermione."

"Thank you so much," Hermione said kissing Mrs. Weasley goodnight.

Ron changed Rose out of her sunflower outfit and pulled on her soft pink nightclothes. He then pulled on a worn pair of sweatpants and crawled into bed shirtless. Hermione gave Rose a kiss before changing and shutting off the lights. She crawled into bed and curled herself against Ron's chest.

"We should have Ginny and Harry babysit Rose for us soon," Ron said as they both fell into sleep.

"Why?" Hermione asked.

"You want another baby, right?"

Hermione laughed softly and kissed Ron.

"Why did it take me so long to marry you?" She said.

"Because I was a moron for most of the time you knew me."

"Okay that's true," Hermione said. "But behind all that is the most amazing man. You're the love of my life."

"I love more than anything 'Mione," Ron said kissing her forehead before they both fell into a peaceful sleep.
