The kings
Shado position
"It's too late for that now," I said. The pull in my chest dragging me towards the door Bella just pushed Edward through.
"Come, we need to help them. Felix and Demetri are with them"
I didn't even ask who Felix and Demetri were. Alice probably wouldn't answer and it wouldn't really change the situation.
Alice broke open the door and slipped inside.
"Come on guys, it's a festival. We wouldn't want to make a scene?" she said in an almost innocent voice.
"We wouldn't," the huge guy said. He looked bigger than Emmett and I assumed his name was Felix,, he just looked like one. Besides, Demetri was a greek name and the other guy looked greek.
"Who's the other human" The guy, who I assumed to be Demetri, asked. His ruby eyes were fixed on me and his head was tilted like he was confused to see a human.
"None of your concern Demetri", Edward answered. Alice cleared her throat, successfully gaining Edward's attention. He looked at her and suddenly he looked scared and worried.
"No Alice. Why. Did. You. Bring. Her?!"
"I didn't know" she whispered.
"Enough...Aro sent me to see what was taking so long" I saw a young-looking girl coming towards us.
She had blonde hair that was in a tight bun and her red eyes were glaring at us. She almost looked childlike. If it wasn't for the fact that everyone tensed when she entered, you'd almost think she was an innocent little girl.
We all ended up following Jane-as I had learned she was called- into a dark passage.
It came to an end and there was a black hole in the floor which seemed to be a long drop.
Edward jumped ahead and Alice told Bella he would catch her. After a while of convincing, she finally jumped and I almost hoped she'd bang her head on the way down, maybe it would knock some sense into that girl.
Alice looked at me as if to ask if I would be okay and I gave her a quick nod. She jumped down and I was left with Felix and Demetri.
"After you," Demetri said, pointing at the hole.
Without a second thought, I jumped down and landed on my feet. The fall wasn't very long and my feet only slightly stung when I landed on the hard stone floor.
Jane looked at me like I had lost my mind.
"Why didn't one of the other catch you?" She asked, giving me a curious look.
I just shrugged, not wanting to engage in a conversation with her. When Jane noticed I wouldn't verbally answer she glared at me before turning around again.
We reached a lift and all pilled in it. As it was made for seven people, it was quite squashed and I was pressed in the corner, which I didn't mind at all.
Standing in a corner gives you a good vantage point of the room and you have at least two sides which are protected.
As soon as the lift moved, a terrible opera singer started abusing my eardrums and I really wanted to punch the controls, to shut the lady up. So not only did she torture people with her singing while she was alive, even in her death she seemed to be a very noisy person.
(I'm sorry if I offended anyone who liked the music, that was not my intention)
The ride seemed to go on forever and when the lady started to sing even higher I put my fingers in my ears. Felix smirked when he saw this and I just looked at him with a blank expression.
"Showing emotions makes you an easy target. They figure you out and use it against you. Never...and I mean never show them what you are feeling. Promise me Shado...promise me you won't..."
His words rang through my head. Why did things have to end like that? He didn't deserve that end. None of us did. Too many died there, because of their hands.
When we exited the lift a secretary, who was obviously human, greeted us.
The Volturi basically ignored her presence and started talking about killing her for dessert. What a lovely bunch of people they were.
We halted in front of a huge door, which looked like it weighed tons.
Jane pushed it open with ease and we stepped into a thrown room. It was round and all around the room, there were guards, standing like statues.
"A sister they send you for one and you bring two...and two halves. What a clever girl" a boy with brown hair, who was standing next to the thrown, said.
"Ah, Bella is alive after all, what a happy surprise. I do love happy endings...they are so rare," A vampire, who I assumed to be Aro, said.
Carlisle had told me about the kings. Well, he said what they looked like and their names.
Aro was holding Edward's hand and as soon as he let it go he looked at Bella. They started talking about the fact that she was a human, which really wasn't a shocker. What else would she be...a dolphin?
I turned around to look at the room when I locked eyes with one of the kings. His ruby eyes widened in shock and he let out a growl, pulling everyone's attention to him.
"What is it, brother?"
"She is my mate. Mine" he growled.
As soon as he said this my eyes went wide and I walked backward a few steps, trying to get away from them.
"Caius?" Aro asked again. Every person in the room was now openly staring at me and I felt very small again.
I hated it when the attention was on me. I liked being invisible. At least that kept me alive.
"Uhm...this is our sister Shado" Alice finally said.
Caius stood up and came closer to me but with every step, he came closer I went further away.
A sudden flash of fear ran through me. It was the knowledge that a monster came closer and pain would soon follow. It always did. They were monsters, he was one, and Caius was one.
He growled again and I let my dagger fall, from up my sleeve, into my hand. Which was behind my back. I knew I couldn't really harm him with it at all, but it made me feel safer.
A guard tried to grab me from behind, so I couldn't move anymore but I flipped him over. My knee hitting his private parts with full strength. Although Iw as only human it seemed to have hurt, as he groaned.
The next guard went to grab me when Caius suddenly ran in front of me, staring at me like I was a prized treasure.
I looked him in the eyes, not because I was frozen in fear but because they hated it when I did that. Hence, why I did it. It was a sign of disrespecting your superiors. They like it when you keep your head down and shut up.
"My mate. You are beautiful"
And you my delusional vampire look like someone I would kick in places they wouldn't enjoy.
He stretched out a hand to stroke my cheek but I pulled my head back quickly. A flash of hurt crossed his face and he looked like I kicked his puppy.
I turned to Alice to see if this is what her vision was about and she gave me a sad look.
"I'm sorry Shado, I never shouöd have brought you along"
At that Caius growled and snapped his head towards her.
"You should be happy you brought her here. She's mine...you dare try and keep her from me." His voice was laced with venom.
"Perhaps we could call Carlisle. We didn't account for this situation" Aro said carefully.
"She stays" Caius hissed.
While the two of them bickered I stepped away quietly and without making any sound went to the part of the room that was in the shadows.
Suddenly Marcus came up to be at an amazing speed.
"You're incredibly quiet, even for a vampire that would be impressive," he said in a monotone voice.
"I am Marcus by the way. You are Shado?"
I nodded.
"You do not talk much do you?" I shook my head.
"Can you talk?" I shrugged.
"If she wants to," Alice said.
Marcus nodded and sat down beside me on the stone bench I was sitting on. Immediately I pushed myself as far away from him as possible.
He gave me a weird look before stretching out his hand as if he wanted me to shake it.
At that, I sat down on the floor, my knees against my chest, and pulled my hood up.
"Little mate, are you okay?"
