Shopping and walks

I am really sorry this chapter took so long. I am on holiday and I don't really have much time. Luckily (note the sarcasm) school starts in three days so I will hopefully have more time (and Wifi).

Shado woke up in Jasper's arms. She was pressed against his cold chest while Alice was leaning on his other side. She was carefully combing Shado's hair with her hands. Shado panicked for a moment, trying to get away from Jasper's hold but gave up when he held her tighter, whispering soothing words in her ear.

They all stayed like that for a while. Shado on Jasper lap, his arms around her while her face was hiding in his neck and Alice with one arm on her back.

After another thirty minutes, Shado got up, wiggling her way out of the two vampires hold.

"Come on, I think Esme made breakfast," Alice said, giving Shado a smile before taking her hand in hers, pulling her to the kitchen. True to her words Esme was standing behind the stove frying an egg and bacon.

"Good morning dear, did you sleep well after the little incident tonight?" She asked in a motherly tone.

Shado nodded slowly not really knowing what she should say. It had been a long time since anyone cared how she slept or cared at all, to be honest. But at the same time, she felt like she was betraying him. He always made sure she was okay, even if it was impossible for both of them to be okay. Every time she closed her eyes she saw his face. The picture of him lying on the ground not moving was permanently burned in her brain. She could basically still feel the icy water and the cold wind from that day.

Shado finished her meal and went upstairs to put her old, now freshly washed, dried and fixed, clothes on. She carefully put the paper plane in the side pocket of her leather jacket.

Quietly Shado went to the front door and slipped out. It wasn't that she hadn't liked it with the Cullens, they had been nothing but friendly, but she didn't want to get attached to anyone.
She had learned the hard way that trusting someone was dangerous.

Shado had been walking through the forest for a few minutes. She had no idea where she wanted to go, but maybe she would stay in Alaska. It was really nice here.

Suddenly someone came out behind her. She spun around, holding her dagger to the person neck.

"Wow...calm down. It's me, Jasper. Hey...I was worried when I didn't find you in the house. Why are you out here?" He said, his golden eyes filled with confusion.

Shado pulled the knife away from his throat, taking a step away from Jasper. He reached for her but she shied away making him frown.

"You can stay with us longer. You don't have to go yet. We...I want you to stay"

He slowly took her hand in his pulling her towards the house. Jasper crouched down and Shado smiled a little before jumping on his back.

You could already see the house when Shado tugged on a strand of Jasper's hair pulling him to the left away from the house.

"What? Don't you want to go back?" He asked confused. She was fine before so why would she be like this now. Again Jasper wished he could feel her emotions, she was so confusing, but every time he tried he was blocked.

Shado shook her head, pointing to the woods.

"You want to extend our walk and come back later?"

She nodded her lips holding a tiny smile. It was barely noticeable but definitely there.

It was already starting to get dark when Jasper and Shado returned to the house. The whole time Jasper was with her. He heard her heartbeat and smelt her blood, but he didn't want to drink it. It felt more like he wanted to protect it. Her blood calmed him down.

"There you two are, we were getting worried," Esme said as soon as Jasper walked through the door with Shado on his back.

She had fallen asleep a few minutes ago and was now using him as her personal bed.

"What took so long?"

"We were on our way back when she pulled my hair and pointed into the woods. So we just spent the day walking around there" Jasper explained with a smile on his face.

"Weren't you hungry with a human on your back all the time?" Rose asked with a surprised face. It was no secret Jasper struggled the most with their diet. Not only did he feed on humans for over two hundred years, but he also had to feel the hunger of everyone else.

"Not at all. Her blood calms me down and I feel protective over her. Not like with Alice...it's different"

Carlisle nodded in understanding. He was very happy Shado's blood didn't bother Jasper. The coven had been talking and they were thinking about taking her in.

"I'll put her to bed. If she wants to eat something later she always can. It's not like nobody will be awake" Jasper announced, taking the sleeping teen to her room.

Alice smiled at her husband. He never really got over his newborn trauma and everyone could see how good Shado was doing him. Even if she had only been there for two days.

Upstairs Jasper put Shado down on her bed and was about to leave when a small hand grabbed his wrist. He turned around his confusion, trying to pull his hand away which made her whimper. Jasper took off his shoes and lay down beside her, wrapping her into his cold embrace.

That night Shado didn't wake up again. After a few hours, Alice had slipped into the room, lying on the girl's other side.

The next day Shado woke up due to sunlight streaming in her face. She was about to close her eyes again when she heard someone closing the curtains.

When she looked up she saw Alice standing by the window giving her a warm smile.

"Good morning. I have new clothes for you. We can buy you your own ones today if you want. Rose found this amazing website and they have these cute little outfits. I'm sure you'll love it" The pixie-like girl said, jumping up and down like a Jojo.

An hour later, Rosalie, Alice and Shado were sitting on the sofa, staring at Rose's Laptop. Shado had tried to make it clear that she really didn't need anything and they didn't need to spend money on her, but they insisted. Besides, she didn't really say anything more like a wave around her hands and shake her head.

Emmett and Jasper were sitting on the floor in front of them playing video games while Edward up in his room listening to some old depressing music.

Esme was in the kitchen making cookies while Carlisle read a Russian book on the armchair by the fireplace.

"Why do you have Russian books, Carlisle. Nobody here speaks that and only you can read it" Emmett whined, trying to figure out what it was about

"Maybe if you actually made an effort you could speak more then one language," Carlisle said with a sigh, not looking up.

Esme noticed Shado interesting look, as the girl seemed to read the back of it.

"Do you know Russian, Shado?" She asked.

Shadow stared at Esme for a while before nodding. This surprised everyone in the room. They didn't know where she came from but she didn't look, Russian. Like...at all.

After another thirty minutes, Rose and Alice had finally finished their shopping spree.

"So...Carlisle mind giving me your credit card?" Alice aled with a grin on her face. Everyone knew that she was a shop alcoholic and she had been trying to get Carlisle's card for almost fifty years.

The coven leader had refused to give it to her daughter. Who knows what kind of ads he would get. Once he had lent it to Rosalie, as money really wasn't a problem for any of the vampires, and he got advertisements for lingere for about two months.

Carlisle raised his eyebrow at Alice, who was smiling.

"Don't bother Alice. I can just enter the details. Wouldn't want you to have to do that as well. After all, you already helped Shado pick everything out. It's only fair I help with that at least."

She frowned her grin dropping. Rose smirked while Emmett burst out in laughter. Even Shado had a smile on her face, while Jasper was desperately trying to hide his amusement. Alice huffed crossing her arms over her chest, pouting a little.

One day she would get his credit card.
