Chapter 2: Discovered

- 13 years later -

"Alright, Ma, I'm heading out!" I yell to her.

"Hold your horses, aren't you forgetting something?" She asks, tapping her foot on the floor. I pretend to think. I smile and said, "Oh you're right! Almost forgot my phone." I walk to the kitchen and pick it up and slide it into my pocket.

My grandma rolls her eyes. "You little brat, get over here and give me a hug." I giggle and do what she says.

"Be careful on your way there, ok? I've been hearing kids have been going missing. I don't want to lose you. I love you." My grandmother says, placing her hand on my cheek.

"Hm, I love you too. And don't worry, I'll be extra careful, just for you." I wave good bye and rush out the door. After all, I don't wanna be late on my first day at a new school. I'm a second year at Shiratorizawa Academy.

As I run to school, I see two guys walking next to each other. And they're pretty tall. They're wearing matching school uniforms, similar to mine. Which could only mean they go to my school. I don't know where I'm going so I could follow them there. Not in a weird way of course.

It was a peaceful walk, except for the two boys in front of me. Well, one if them was being loud. A read haired boy.

They seem to be doing their own thing so I don't want to bother them. I pull out my phone and earbuds and listen to music while still following the two giants. They seem to notice me but I guess they recognise my uniform because they don't say anything to me,which I'm cool with.

We make it through the gates and I walk my own route, away from the two boys I followed. I walk to the office and knock on the door. A muffled 'come in' is faintly heard so I open the door.

A lady with her brown hair in a bun and red lipstick in is typing away at her computer. She turns and looks at me over her rose colored glasses.

"What do ya want?" She asks her voice scratchy.

"O-oh um, I'm Y/n L/n and I'm her for my schedule..." I tell her.

"Hang on... Damn kid..." She types something on her computer and prints something out. She grabs the paper and holds it out for me to grab. "Here, now get out." I slowly grab the paper and mutter a quiet 'thanks'. I turn around and walk out the door and close it behind me.

"What a rude lady... Now, let's see." I look at the paper. It's my schedule and it's kinda confusing. I look up to see if there's anybody around to help me.

Aaaand, there is not.

Of course.

I groan and begin to follow the signs they have up while still looking at my schedule. I don't know anything about this school so I'm going to be making stuff up.

I make it to my first class (with much struggling involved but let's not talk about that) and breathe. I wait outside the door and begin a pep talk with myself.

'Ok, Y/n, no need to be nervous. They can't hurt you. Well, I mean, they can, but they won't. But they could. But they won't. But they will if they don't like you. But, I'm a good person to hang around with, right? But what if they don't like my personality? What if they think I'm annoying? What if-'

"Are you coming in? Or are you waiting for something?" A voice pipes in. I look up and see a older male with white hair ask, holding the door open. He looks down at me, waiting for me to answer.

"O-oh, uh, y-yea! Sorry!" I bow and walk in and hear some chuckles. I cringe. Great first impression, Y/n! They think you're an idiot!

"Um, hi! I'm L/n Y/n. It's very nice to meet you and I hope we can be friends!" I shout and bow. The teacher tells me to take a seat, which I do.

As I walk to my seat, students watch me. Every step I take, every breath I make, every glance I take, they're watching me.

My nervousness dies down once I sit in my seat. All the attention I was receiving is gone as the teacher begins to teach stuff. I try to focus really hard at what the teacher is saying, but I can't. My mind wanders off. Everything else becomes way more interesting than what the teachers saying.

Before I know it, the bell rings. Everyone begins to pick up their stuff and talk amongst themselves while I just sit there drawing.

"Look at that! It's the cute girl that was following us to school!" A voice rings out. I look up to see the same firey red hair that I saw this morning. My eyes widen when I realize he's talking about me. Beside him is the same male from before, his glare intensifies as his eyes bore into my own.

"Ah shit." I mumble. The red haired boy walks into the room and walks to me. "I'd like to clear this up: Yes, I was following you. However, I wasn't following you to be weird or creepy. I didn't know where I was going so...yea."

He eyes me with a smirk. "Wow~able to come up with lies on the spot. Talented you are~." I was about to argue but his friend says something.

"Class is starting." The boy behind him says as he turns around and leaves.

"Miracle boy~don't leave me!" The red haired boy yells. He turns back to me. "See ya around, liar~chan." And he leaves.

"What the hell..." I mutter. "And I'm not a lair."

---

Classes come and pass quickly. Soon the end of the day is here and I pack up my things. I sling my bag over my shoulder and leave the room. As usual, I'm the last one to leave which is fine.

I walk down the hall and make it to the exit leading to freedom. I push the door open, but I hear footsteps behind me.

"L/n~san! I need you to help me with some paperwork." I turn around to see my chemistry teacher waving a bunch of papers in his hand. I silently groan in annoyance.

Why can't he do it himself? He's the one with a degree and he wanted to babysit a bunch of apes that drench themselves in axe body spray and cake their face with makeup.

"What is it?" I ask, hiding how much I hate him right now.

"I need you to grade some papers for me. It's only for your class, don't worry. I already graded yours."

"Why do I have to?"

"Out of everyone in the class, I trust you the most. Consider this extra credit. 35 points."

"Fine."

"See ya tomorrow." He hands me some of the papers. "The rest are in my room." And walks past me and out the door, the door I should've walked quicker to. I sigh and turn around and head back to the classroom.

I enter the room and spot the pile of papers that need to be graded on his desk. Ugh... That was a long test too.. And how many people are in my class?

I sigh and plop down on the seat. I lean back against the chair and let out a distressed noise.

"What a lousy teacher. He's basically getting paid for what I'm about to do. Can he even do this? Is this allowed? Probably not. Should I do this? No. Am I going to?.... Uh, haven't decided." I sit up and crack my knuckles. "Welp, better get started."

I finish grading those tests at like, 6:00. 3 hours after school ended. It was harder than I thought.

I push myself away from the desk and stand up. My legs feel numb. I crack my back and stretch my limbs. I let out a breath and pick up my bag.

"Alright, time to go home and do homework. Yay..." I walk out the room for a second time today and walk out the door. With it being 6 o'clock, it's really dark outside already. Only the moon lights my way, even then the light is very dim.

I live kinda far from the school but lucky me there's a short cut. Unlucky me, it's an alleyway. If I just run, it'll be ok, right?

Once I make it to the alleyway, I turn and enter. With the buildings in the way, the moon can't provide me with any light so I can't really see anything.

I walk past a dumpster, a few cats digging around inside looking for food. One of the cats is covered in blood.

"Aw, poor thing." I walk over to it and it allows me to pick it up. I inspect it and that's when I notice: the bloods not coming from the cat. I look up and listen.

Shuffling and muffled are coming from the end of alleyway. I place the car down and it scurries away, rejoining it's little buddies. With my hands stained a bit with blood, I get up and put my bag back on my shoulder.

How did I not hear this before? I carefully walk deeper into the alleyway. My steps sound louder than before. 3/4 the way into the alleyway, the sounds become clearer than they ever could.

There, hunched over on its knees, is some sort of monster. Blood covering it's face, hands, legs. The mangled body of some poor school girl lays on the dirty ground. It rips her arm off and begins chewing off the meat, book squirting in its face.

My heart drops to my stomach and I let out a choked sob. The monster turns to me, it's yellow eyes and slits for pupils staring at me. It smiles, showing me it's blood stained teeth.

It rips out a bone from the arm and throws it me, hitting me in the shoulder. It didn't really hurt but it got me running. I turned on my heel and booked it out. I pass the dumpster with the cats, who are still scavenging for food.

As I almost reach the end, an arm grabs me by my blazer pulling me back. I let out a scream but it's covered my a bloody hand. Tears fill my eyes as I'm dragged back into the alleyway. I thrash about in the arms of the monster, but it doesn't bat an eye at me.

Through teary eyes, I look up at the beast.

Fire red hair....
