Epilogue
AAHANA'S POV
I don't why everyone says we should leave our past behind to move forward. Why should it stay as past when it caused so much impact on my present? I say embrace it and get on with our lives. Having seen Soham, I understood he's as sensitive as anyone can be. For him causing harm towards someone is hell. He knows only the language of love and affection. Even if it's his enemy or like the one who killed his sister, he just can't undo his love for them because as he says "there's something good in everyone maybe I get attached to it ".
After arresting Bharagav, we found out that he was into human trafficking and child trafficking. Upon spontaneous acts from police and other forces, we could save a few. After intense grilling, he confessed to having killed Nidhi because he was caught red-handed by Soham. He wanted to move Nidhi somewhere. Whatever charges were placed against Soham were cleared long back and he was satisfied that finally he attained peace in Nidhi's case. I refused to meet Bharagav, as he never acted as my friend or brother in my life. For me, he's a murderer and a stranger. My parents are unaware of all the incidents that took place past few days. They knew something was off but I said it's all due to fluctuation in business. I did not care if I was adopted or not. Didn't want to make my parents sad. So me and Soham decided to keep quiet, as it doesn't matter to me now.
Soham and Dhruv decided to establish an organization where women or anyone who is rescued could get employment there. Soham finally believed that law is the final force that will help us to punish people like Bhargav. As far as Chitra is concerned. She's doing her best in college to get into a good job. Her help can be never forgotten by any one of us.
" Oh my God! Really?! " Soham shouted jumping in his place. My thoughts were interrupted looking at him jump like that.
Is he OK?
"Come on Aahana! We need to go! " he shouted dashing out of our door. Dad looked at me with a weird expression.
" Aahana come fast! " he shouted again from the lift making me hurry. I was silent the whole ride, observing his excitement. We reached the hospital where he ran like a mad person and I had to follow him.
" What happened??! " he shouted holding Dhruv by shoulder.
" It's a baby girl!!!! " Dhruv shouted and they both hugged and kissed each other. Soham lifted him bridal style and kissed him on his forehead.
I walked silently past them to meet the newborn baby and her mother.
" Hi there baby " I cooed holding her tiny fingers.
" He's out there, right? They are jumping, right? " Dhruv's wife asked me and I nodded my head.
" I am happy, after your marriage this is the biggest happiness in both their lives " she said with a smile.
" How long have you known each other? " I asked her.
" Oh you meant Soham? " she questioned me cooing her baby.
" Many years! We three are like the best invisible and invincible friends in our class. Soham was always a shy and sensitive one. After their death, he couldn't take it. Once he went to jail, we saw a completely different person in him. His anger and frustration were only shown to Dhruv whenever he visited him. His helplessness towards the situation made him more vulnerable. I thank God every day that you met him, it's because of you he changed. You have given him hope, love which he craved for silently. Thank you" she spoke holding my hand.
If I say I understood him completely is an understatement because I didn't. Even now I find new things about him. Maybe that's what being a companion is about. Giving him support, standing with every phase of his life, and assuring him that I am there for him is what I always wanted to do. After her talk, I now know why he struggled so much, he knew what it means to lose the person we love, and he knew how it feels to suddenly not know how to cope with the loss. That is the reason, he made sure no one around him suffered like him. He understood not always love helps a person to change. Sometimes we have to let go to have a better understanding of it. Bharagav helped him to realize that. Soham is extremely bad at expressing his emotions but if one knows him, one will understand how far he can go for that person's well-being.
" Aahana? " Soham called out as Dhruv entered the room.
" You are excited as if you are her father " I joked to which he blushed.
" I am her godfather! " he replied hugging me.
" I am so happy! " I said patting his head.
" Nidhi is born again Aahana! " he whispered. His tears were on my neck. I know Soham doesn't believe in this but if it's making his heart heal, I thank God for sending this angel into our lives.
" Yes, Soham. Stop crying! You need to save these up when she makes you cry " I winked at him holding his hand.
" Thank you " he said looking at me.
I have been nothing but supportive of him all this while. Breaking up with someone on a bad note is painful when you know that person's whole life. Soham never had any breakups with a girl but with Bhargav it hit him hard. He never said anything but I know him. More than anything we need to have faith, which will take you anywhere, farther than anything else. I have faith in him, his love, and destiny so I know my Soham will always find his way home which is his life which includes us all.
" I am there for you, always. " I said kissing his forehead.
