SOHAM'S POV

I was becoming weak,  this is not how things work for me!

" Sir! " My assistant called pointing out the areas I should sign for fund release.

" Sir,  our company stands at a good place now in the market.  We are getting new demands for the publication of books.  I am sure your father would be proud of this improvement and you " he congratulated leaving me alone

Dad

He has been running around for me leaving behind his dream to establish this company at number one position.  He wanted our company to be on top list.  But all we could manage was a decent spot in this world of power hunger.

Power.

That five letter word ruined my life!

For me,  it doesn't matter where I stand.  If I could feel content and happy with what I do, then I don't mind what people think of me or their expectations of me.  Power hunger is the only thing people strive for nowadays.  I leaned back in my chair closing my eyes,  I promised Aahana that I would come to her house to talk about our marriage.  When I called her parents,  they wanted us to get engaged as soon as possible, as they wanted to announce the news to their near relatives. 

Will he leave her alone? 

Just then my phone rang making me clench my fists looking at caller ID.

" So hello dear " he spoke.

" Why? "I asked him.

" Told you,  I have instead warned you " he chuckled.

" Why do you do this?! What satisfaction you get from this? " I barked into the phone.

" For my little brother " he replied.

" Your little brother died long before you met him.  He died as soon as he was born.  " I said calming my nerves down.

" I don't believe you,  even if you are correct,  the one you killed was like my little brother! I will avenge his death! " he spoke with anger.

" We have been together since childhood.  We know each other better than anyone else.  Do you think I will kill him? He killed himself as he had no other way out.  " I said.

How can I talk so calmly with him when he tried to attack the people I love?

" You don't have the guts to say Soham.  You have killed him.  " he said.

" I planned to kill him.  I wanted to.  If he hadn't taken that step,  I would have done it.  But can you please come out of it?  This is not you.  Whoever is behind you is just hungry for power,  and dominance.  Making use of your loss and feelings.  " I said holding my anger.

" I have decided to be like this.  I am what I am. He didn't make me into anything.  Don't blame him.  This is the right path " he said.

" Right path?  Manipulating the law to kill someone,  taking away innocent children and women from their families to make them do your nasty work? This is not why you are born for "I shouted punching my table which cracked as it is made of glass. 

" Psst! You are one lawful person in this world Soham? Don't tell me.  I know how twisted your case was.  How your dad bribed his way up to get you released from jail for the crime you have committed.  When you yourself couldn't walk in the path of justice,  how can you assume someone will do it for you? "he mocked me. 

" Sir!  You are bleeding!  I will get you first aid " My assistant looked horrified running out of my cabin.  I sighed. 

You can't talk nicely with him Soham.  He's no longer your friend.  He's no one to you. 

" I should have known,  the moment you chose to take part in these ghastly things,  I should have known my life would be changing drastically.  Starting with your existence in my life all I have faced is sadness,  and loss. But I am happy now.  With you gone, I trust the almighty more now.  Things not meant to be ours, will tend to go away from us on their own.  We don't need to struggle about it.  I am happy you have gone away from me.  " I said mocking him back having gotten no response from him,  I knew he was getting affected by my words. 

Let him suffer!  Let him know the pain maybe not much as mine but he should taste it too. 

The taste of betrayal  .

" You might have law on your side.  But truth always wins.  It might take me on rough road but in the end, Even your law can't help you from your filthy truth " I said giving him time to digest my words.

" Always remember,  it's you who has chosen this life, it's you who kidnapped my baby sister,  it was only you who betrayed our friendship.  You started it,  so it will be ended by you or should I say with you only.  " I stressed.

" Mind your words Soham! You have seen what my men have done at your orphanage.  I am not going to get frightened by your empty threats.  You have taken away someone dear to me and I will do the same with you.  Plus your orphanage has nice catch by the way " he laughed .

" I have seen what your men has done.  But did they contact you after leaving my place?  Do you know where are they now? No?  Keep guessing.  Don't mess with me.  Don't call me ever. " with that said I disconnected his call.

" Sir? " my assistant stood there looking at my hand which is bleeding continuously.

" You were here all the time?  " I asked him.

"N.. No sir I came here when you were talking about what happened in your orpha-" I raised my hand indicating him to stop.

" Not a word outside.  If I get to know someone who knows this,  you will be Fired " I said.

" No! Never!  " he responded.

" Good.  Keep it there.  I will clean my wound " I ordered.  He looked at me one last time and left my cabin.  After washing my hand for the sixth time,  I came back and managed to place a bandage over it.  I don't even know if some glass pieces are stuck in it.  The pain I am going through is nothing compared to the one I have gone through. 

" I am leaving Soham.  You want to join me" he asked me enthusiastically.

" You know I can't.  But we will be in touch right? " I asked him.

" Yeah of course man! " he replied packing his bags.

But something about him made my suspicions increase.

" Where are you going? " I questioned him.

" To a better place! " he replied curtly.

" You know,  although this is named an orphanage,  there's no differentiation between me and children here. You can join our Company and we can together help dad.  " I suggested.

" I am not born for that Soham " he chuckled looking at me.

" Even I am not.  I swear on our friendship even if you become head of my dad's company.  I don't mind.  The one who's capable will always lead the rest to a better position.  " I said smiling widely. 

" My goal is different from yours.  I want to succeed at my feet.  I am going to achieve it at any cost" he said carrying his bags out.

" Meet mom at least.  She will be happy " I said. 

" No.  I can't see her crying.  She knows I am leaving.  You take care too " he said walking away.

" Wait a second.  Nidhi wanted to meet you before you go and wish you good luck" I shouted.  He turned back and smirked at me.  That made me pause and look at him for a minute.  He has changed. 

" Tell her,  she is my good luck" With that said he left without looking back.

Little did I understand his words, things would have been different. Wiping my hand with antiseptic,  I called Dad asking him to come to Aahu's house directly.
