Chapter~2 (Niall)
Ghosts
Dead souls that wander the earth, who haven't crossed the other side yet as they have a reason-or not- to still be around.
That is what Niall is.
The blonde headed Irish lad didn't expect to wake up on his bed-well, more like death bed- when he specifically remembered that he had died moments after his whole cottage collapsed on him caused by the fire that started out of nowhere. He didn't know if his family had made it out safely or not, right now his first concern is why am I still here?
He sat up on his ash covered bed, inspecting his surroundings. He was in his used to be room, but all that's left is ashes, ashes, and more ashes. Literally the only thing left that wasn't completely turned to ashes was his bed.
Niall quickly jumped out of his bed, slightly wobbling from the lack of use of his legs. Did he actually survive the fire? Is he still alive? Where is his family? These questions clouded the blonde's thoughts till he heard a familiar wailing of a child.
Theo?
He ran to where the crying was coming from, not long till he halted to a stop and found his young nephew sobbing in a corner. He could recall his older brother running
"Hey little bud, why are you crying?"
The young child continued to sob, clutching something in his tiny hand balled into a fist.
"Whatcha got there?"
Niall didn't receive an answer, but instead heard another voice call out to his little nephew.
"Theo! There you are, kiddo." A man came rushing to the child, picking him up and tried soothing his cries. Yet he didn't seem to calm down.
"Greg! You're alive! Where's the family?" Niall exclaimed, happy to see his older brother. Still, no response came from him as well. Why is everyone ignoring him?
"Greg? GREG!!" Shouted the blonde, desperately trying to get the attention of his brother. He started walking away with Theo letting out quite whimpers in his shoulder. "Wait!"
The blonde ran in front of his brother, stretching his arms wide out to block his way, yet he kept walking. Niall waited for the impact, but it never came. He opened his eyes and saw his brother already had passed him.
What?
As he went to grab Greg's wrist, his hand went straight through. A gasp left his mouth, eyes widened in shock. Did that just-..?
He heard his brother attempting to hush his son again, the words leaving his mouth left Niall frozen in his spot.
"Please stop crying, Theo. I know you miss your uncle, I miss him, too. But he's gone."
Uncle...
Gone...
So Niall hadn't mistaken himself. He was, in fact, dead.
But why is he still here? On earth? Shouldn't he have crossed the other side?
Maybe it wasn't his time yet. Or maybe he wasn't meant to be in heaven. He's always been a good boy, why wouldn't he be up there?
Then there's the fact that he died on July 22nd. The day before his birthday. Wait, hold up. The fire started around midnight, when everyone, especially Niall, was fast asleep. So...he actually died on the day he was born. Perfect. Note the sarcasm.
What a wonderful way to spend my 22nd birthday. Niall rolled his eyes. But really, he was hurting in the inside.
"Why did it have to come to this?!"
He screamed out loud, already knowing no one would hear him anyway. The now dead, but alive blonde boy looked up to the sky, and suddenly all his problems seemed to go away as his eyes met the moon.
Maybe he was only seeing things, but he swore he just saw four shadow figures on the moon, one of them resembling himself.
Was it a sign?
He hoped it was.
He was willing to figure out his soul purpose on earth.
What a coincidence. I was literally writing this in the middle of the night. XD
Haha, well, moving on!
