IN THE DUST
:: i, the newbies
Today out of all days was different for Savannah. For the first time since she's been living in Mystic Falls, she decided to start going to school. She admitted herself into Mystic Falls High in the middle of the year. Since she never been to school before, she used this opportunity to further her knowledge and meet new people.
She brushed her hair in the mirror before picking up a scrunchy off the sink to tie her hair up. She had goals today — get to know the teachers, make friends and try out for cheerleading. After finishing up in the bathroom, she went to go get dress and that was easy because she picked out her clothes the night before.
She was soon out the door within the next fifteen minutes on her way to the school. It was a quick walk, pass Mystic Grill. She was walking into the building as other students were. This was a whole new experience for her but she was already loving it.
She had no idea where to go, so the first person she saw, that's who she approached for information.
"Um, hi." Savannah approached the blonde who was in her locker, "I'm new here and I don't know where the student office is?"
The blonde turned around, "Hi, im caroline and the office is just down there." Caroline pointed in the direction, "You'd probably see a sign by the door."
"Thanks, caroline." Savannah stuck out her hand, "Savannah, by the way."
Caroline took it, sending her a bright smile.
After the quick interaction with the blonde, she began on her way to the student's office. It was right where Caroline told her it would be. She appreciated the blonde didn't lie. She walked through the door and notice a tall guy talking to the lady at the front desk.
Once he turned around and smiled at her, she could've sworn he looked awfully familiar. Like she met him along time ago but she couldn't remember. He walked passed her out the room and for some reason, she breathed in deeply. Savannah's eyes were to the floor, wandering up to meet the lady's who was gesturing for her to come forward.
Savannah approached the desk and the lady happily gave her information she's been seeking. She got her class schedule, locker, and everything else that was needed. On her way out Student Services, she saw the same guy heading into the boy's bathroom. Her eyes followed him as he bumped into a girl coming out that bathroom.
Savannah thought it was odd. Why was a girl leaving the guy's bathroom? But then the burnette turned around and Savannah saw her face — that whole bathroom question quickly exited her brain.
She was more wondering why Katerina Petrova was lurking the halls of a high school.

Savannah sat in the middle row of her last class of her first day. She watched that same guy stare at the alleged Katerina Petrova. If that guy was looking at her the way she knows he is, that could only mean he knows her or has a past which definitely piqued Savannah's interest.
Anyone who knows Katerina or knew, wasn't exactly human. That could only mean he was a vampire and he must've been around for a long time but Savannah wasn't too sure yet.
Stefan felt eyes on his back, burning through his skull. He glanced behind him and saw the same girl he passed earlier in student services. He wondered about her staring, he wondered about elena and how she can look so much like katherine.
He tried to stay focus on the teacher and notes, but everything else was overpowering in his mind. The girl, Elena, and the sudden news earlier about the two dead people. People around town had been saying it was animal attacks but stefan knew the truth. He could only assume there was another vampire in town.
Time quickly progressed and there was only five minutes until the final bell rang. Stefan had plans to go straight home while Savannah was going to attend the cheer tryouts. And just like that, by everyone's anticipation, the bell finally rang. Everyone was zooming out the classroom, but not Savannah, she was taking her time — no rush.
After getting to her locker, then began making her way to the gym, she felt eyes staring her down now. She glanced back only for a moment and saw a dark haired girl who suddenly looked the other way. Savannah didn't question it, she had other things to worry about right then.
She soon closed her locker and continued her way to the gym for cheerleading tryouts. As soon as she walked through the doors, she noticed all the other students —— boys and girls preparing.
As she began walking around everyone to get a seat on the bleachers, she heard her name suddenly called.
"Savannah!"
She turned around at the sound of her name and saw a blonde waving her hand. She noticed it was Caroline and quickly made her way over there.
Savannah approached her with a smile, "You're trying out as well?"
Caroline smiled, "Actually, im captain. So, good luck out there."
Savannah passed her one last quick smile before resuming to the bleachers and quickly enough, tryouts started. The tryouts ran for about two hours. First it was as a group, then merged into individual, which took a bit of time because there were quite a few people trying out.
After it wrapped, Caroline announced the people who got in will be posted on the bulletin board outside the gym tomorrow after lunch.
Just when everyone began heading out the gym, Caroline caught up to Savannah and offered her to hang with her friends at Mystic Grill. The burnette didn't decline. She thought it was a quick way to make friends but also stay vigilant because no one can get an up on her.
Especially since Caroline is friends with the Katerina lookalike and Savannah definitely wanted to know more about that.

As soon as they got there, Caroline's friends were already seated at a table that was close to the exit. Savannah followed the blonde and the two sat next to one another across from her other friends.
Caroline brightly smiled, "Guys, this is Savannah. Savannah, meet Elena and Bonnie —— my best friends."
Savannah immediately stuck her hand out for Elena of course, "Nice to meet you."
Elena shook it, "Very formal but you too."
Just as everyone was getting acquainted, a tall, dark, and handsome man walked by their table. It was non other than that boy from earlier that Savannah can't seem to shake off her mind and that Elena is for some reason drawn to.
As Bonnie, Caroline, and Elena talked amongst themselves, Savannah glanced behind her in his direction. She didn't know his name or recognize him but he looked oddly familiar to her. As she continued to stare a little, he looked right back at her, which caused her to quickly turn back around.
She always had this feeling that Mystic Falls was eerie and a little sketchy in a way, and that dude did not make her suspicious any better of the little town everyone calls home.
